Yes I used to see these plant growing wild In the Island and some people use them like flowers plant, I think it come from the cactus family is when I went come to North American I see them in the supermarket, however I have never purchase or eaten it before you mostly seen them in the Asian supermarket 🇨🇦 if you want different fruits just visit the Asian market

I'm in my 50s and I've been eating this fruit from I was a child we called it wild okra it's so tasty and nice especially in soup I have the plants here in my yard in st Ann it just grow wild but I never knew there is a market for it as I see it grows wild all over the place

I live in Burnt Ground Hanover. I fell in love with the plant that grew wild I'm my neighbour's yard. I thought it was an ephyphillum orchid - aka Queen of the Night Cactus. Little did I know that it was a dragon fruit. Now I want to grow the other varieties. Thanks for sharing

Very expensive here in Canada, but it's delicious and has lots of health benefits... Don't let the seeds scare you, and it's a good eat for pregnant women, diabetics, bones, hair, skin, etc... The yellow one is a bit tangy in flavor to me, and my favorite. Yes Dragon fruit pancake, with a little bit of passion fruit in the mix, just give it a try. I almost want to call it the miracle fruit to Moringa but Moringa has 18 out of 20 nutrition values. The cactus' family is full of health peeps!!!

It grows wild in Trelawny and my grandma used to cook the stem just before it flower. She called it wild okra. We didn't eat the fruit. It was very tasty and slippery just as the Okra. It actually runs like a vine on other nearby trees. Just don't know why grandma didn't let us eat the fruit. I have eaten the fruit in England.

Grew up eating this fruit, as a child we knew it as Bine Pear, grew wild in the bushes never knew the real benefits until I migrated to the US. The name Bine Pear came about because it relieves constipation

I’ve tasted those fruits but I’ve never tasted any that was sweet, they all seem very bland but I believe it’s because they’re picked very early for shipping so the fruit doesn’t get to ripe properly. I would love to try the purple variety off the plant because the purple ones are actually sweeter than the white variety from my experience.

Hey Wesley...thanks for another gem. I recall seeing dragon-fruit in Jamaica waaaay back when I was a child visiting my grandparents. It wasn't until I traveled to Thailand that I tried it. I didn't like it at all 🤢. I don't like the texture and I found it rather lacking in any particular flavor. However it can stewed and made into a delicious jam. But as with all jams, a lot of sugar has to be added. The color is so vibrant...Dragon-fruit purple ❤️. I've seen it in Jamaica but was cut down in ignorance not knowing what it was. I believe I'd seen the fruit with some Asians selling at the corner of west and orange street. It's popular in the western suburbs of Chicago USA and very expensive but are sold in very small quantiee.

Yes, I had it in the uk, but only know about it, but was only told about the flowers can be cooked like okra. I asked on line about how to cooked the flowers and was advised that it's the the dragon fruit

I am a Jamaican living abroad I went to Hawaii where The dragon fruit was introduced to me I enjoyed that fruit but then I realize that the plan I have seen in Jamaica many times not certain if the variety is the same so I find this video very interesting also wishing I was home so I could find this gentleman and get some of the cuttings so I could plan some for myself I watch your program and they are very very interesting keep up the good work continue to Educate the people about the natural stuff that God has created for us God bless you as you continue your endeavors

Yes I know about this Fruit for quite a while now, the Chinese grow alot of it and many carribbean countries this fruit can be found in!

This fruit is native of Asia , very popular in Thailand, i seen it many years ago , there is also a yellow variety as well , my friend in Florida has a lot planted at his home, it’s a lovely cooling fruit .,,.. I love Dragon Fruit, it can be found in lots of Supermarket in the USA

@We Up Ok my dear dear hear you !! Almost everything we consume by mouth nowadays is man made and GMO, we not getting clean pure anything to eat hardly , from Meat , to Fruit, Vegetables, Grains whatever you can think of Bread ,Cheese , Fish you name it … God help us !! We can only bless it, pray it don’t kill us , and eat it , …. What else are we going to do? Die from hungry? One way or the other we’ll be dead !! Best thing to do is eat strictly Organic Natural Food, if best grow our own if we can , then we’ll be sure it’s not tampered with ….

This is actually native to south and central America and was introduced to Vietnam and other Asian countries.

@We Up there has been no gene editing done. Rather, these were created using cross pollination(selective breeding). This also occurs naturally in nature, where the plants with the strongest traits survive and produce seeds that are disbursed by animals that repeat the cycle. The only difference with the versions we are consuming is that Farmers and botanists observe and crossbreed the the plants that have traits they desire. Please do some research on Mendel's Law and we can discuss this further.

@We Up you are aware that farmers have been practicing selective breeding for hundreds of years before modern day technology used to genetically modify plants right? Selective breeding has been used to create known landraces unique to different localities eg corn, melon, "Marijuana" and mangoes (since you would like to know). I'm am by no means trying to defend the lab made garbage being passed off as food today. However, I, like many farmers before me, take the time to observe my crop and different characteristics in my plants then breed for the traits I'd like to see in my field. Just like a goat or cattle farmer selects the best bucks or yows to improve their herd.

I come across this in portobello at a home .I was surprised to see it because I know it grow in the bush on trees never knew it could be eaten.i saw it as a flowers.

DRAGON FRUIT GROWS WILD WHERE I AM FROM IN MANCHESTER. THEY GROW ON TREES LIKE PARACITE AND ON STONE WALLS. BIRDS AND LIZARDS EAT THEM. I DID NOT KNOW THAT IT WAS EDIBLE. FROM UK.😷💚👍🙏

I grew up in rural-rural St Ann, Jamaica. It grows wild in the bushes but we were afraid of it. Didn’t know it could be eaten. Impressive, Sheldon!

Hi really love this video I have 2 plants here of the 2 varieties the pink purplish one and white. I would like to know if he hand pollinate them because I realise it's only occasionally I would get fruit but I get flowers often.

I know dragon fruit from l was a child n l am 75 yes old l used to c it in Clarendon when l go to visit my grandmother there was lots growing along with the one call Maami l know Miami can b eaten but l did not know that dragon fruit can b eaten
