When people say that the beginning of no way home isn’t the best, and it is like the e first two, but I think it was smart that the first part was like the previous two movies because it makes that tonal change in the second act feel more earned, you can’t just completely change the tone right away you have to slowly change it so that it makes sense

Agreed, the first part was mediocre at best, which reflects why it was made by the mcu, but the second half its among the best of Spiderman, purely made by Sony. I guess this shows who understands more the character.

@@eliasfigarzon9813 Where did you read that? I do think the movie felt nore Sony overall though. Haven't been a fan of the MCU becoming more and more Disney myself, but thibg is the pure Sony productions (Venom) have been absolute crud. Maybe Disney and Sony working together is still the best idea.

@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom you probably don't understand this. You are wrong about calling venom crud, I'm stating to doubt that you are not a horrible mcu fan, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt. The first half feels way too much akin to the mcu formula, this is Kevin feige's doing, but if you have watched the previous Spiderman sagas and specially the first trilogy, that feels purely sony or the previous producer of the spiderman films whose name I forgot before they made the alliance with Disney and marvel. No wonder why everyone likes the second half better than the first one. I hope you understand what I'm saying.

@J Skeetz man, you have to analyze this in some ways that I can't describe here but you have to know this. If you liked the second half better than the first one, then you are giving kudos to sony, because that's exactly of Spiderman used to be before arriving in the mcu. Just think about what I'm talking about when I say that the first one resembles the mcu and the other the previous Spiderman films.

Dude I'm not trying to be a jerk but can we pmease stop it with the whe "this trilogy was one big origin!" Take? It clearly wasn't. all they did was change Peter's setting and environment to give him all the traits that spider-man was always supposed to have. They decided to use the story to placate the fans who gave been complaining on the Internet. If you watch the prior movies it's clear they were trying to lean heavy into him being iron man's protégé. The second movie leans into this HEAVILY. Also even if this is "an origin" it took them over 6 hours and six appearances to tell a story that both the amazing spider-man and the original spider-man did in 2 hours. That's pathetic. No way home doesn't retroactively correct the issues with the prior films. It just makes them irrelevant going forward. If I make a superman trilogy and the first two superman films are about him being ring a punk rocker who doesn't even save anyone's life, then end the third one with him as a journalist saving lives in the classic costume that's not "making an origin trilogy" that's just me deliberately ignoring superman's defining character traits then shoving them in at the end to cover my ass. I liked the movie but this idea that "it was always one big origin!" Is stupid.

Plot holes, perceived plot holes, no plot holes, I don't care. I loved this film. It's a film that made my sister, who was too young to grow up with the other Spider-Men movies, have a visceral reaction and my brother, who was never the biggest Holland Spider-Man fan, love the character. SPOILERS And it's magical when, no matter who your favorite Spider-Man is, the moment you see all of them work together (at least for a little while, based on these comments) those feelings melted away. And now, I enthusiastically await being told how this isn't as good as Spider-Man 2. Like always.

The movie truly nailed who Spider-Man is, but more importantly who is Peter Parker and what he stands for. I expected people to say that the film seems like it listened to all the complaints and fixed them. But I’ve been saying for years since homecoming that peters arc wasn’t over yet. I believe this was always the plan for peters arc, minus the multiverse stuff of course. People expected these films to be like the raimi trilogy where there is a very distinct, clear change and evolution of the character all in one film. But this was always a trilogy first. His arc was stretched across rather three films. Whether you like that or not is of course personal preference.

@@firstlast9846 you can see the movie in 2 halfs, I'm saying this because I'm a huge Spiderman fan and I'm studying films and arts. In the first half, this is a perfect Spiderman movie, at least when the second act begins. There you finally get to see how peter struggles in a world filled of heroes ; this is the mcu ; here you aren't the only hero in town, but you can still lose everything and this is why this movie shiens on a greater scale than the other ones. Now you can see this movie in the second half just like you did on the first half, but here you are also using your objectivity to see a movie, any kind of movie, and here it's where you get to see that this movie isn't the best Spiderman movie as every single average mcu fan is saying, but this does not matter because this is the mcu fanbase and they tend to say stupid things like this for a while now. The movie it's among the most weak movies of Spiderman in terms of objectively ; I'm talking about story, plot, cgi, score, music, side characters, etc. I still can not get over the fact that this movie has terrible cgi on so many moments, even the most crucial ones. Example. Andrew's Spiderman saving MJ had a weird looking cgi, and when Norman leaves his goblin mask has bad cgi as well, Dafoe head seemed to be floating in some shoots. The score it's OK, just like every single other mcu movie with a few exceptions like black panther and........ I think that's it. The previous sagas had better aspects in so many categories than no way today, but the mcu fanbase still considers the other films as "trash", or "nostalgia". Into the spider verse is the real spidermen experience you can get on the big screen, yet the mcu fanbase being the most horrible of all the entertainment industry calls it "average". Hopefully you can understand what I'm trying to say and not get confused or mad, I genuinely loved the movie, already seen it over 8 times and going for more because it's good, but no way near the best of the series of Spiderman, except if you are the average mcu fan and fanbase.

I’ll be honest: I was TERRIFIED of this film when I learned it was going to be a multiverse thing. Until I watched it I thought it was going to cash in on the unprecedented success of ITSV, which is perfection anyway, and that it would just be a reference flick with little to no care for Spider-Man as a character. I’ve never been more happy to be wrong. This film is WAY TOO GOOD. Its usage of the multiverse not exactly for the sake of worldbuilding and marketing alone, but also to actively add to the conflict that Peter incites is just incredible. And the final act is one of the most impressive acts in the entire MCU. Maybe I would’ve enjoyed a smaller scaled Spidey film more, but I’m more than thankful this film works so well.

They tried to do it with Homecoming and FFH but soon realised that they can't match the original triology so they just copied the logic used there and realised that MCU fanboys are gonna like no matter what because MCU fanboys are MCU fanboys and it worked. No Way Home makes you REALLY appreciate the previous two installments because of what transpires through the film, and more specifically -- the ending. This trilogy was Peter Parkers origin story. The ones who didn't like the previous two wanted to see Spider-"Man" right away, much like Tobey and Andrews. Each of their first films had them become Spider-Man in the second act, which is fine, but I wanted something more fleshed out -- to let Peter be a kid for a little bit. This trilogy did that, and I think it did perfectly (with NWH completing it). I think the issues you have with the previous two films stem from Marvel making Holland's Spider-Man an actual kid. Like, of course he didn't see the situation from Tooms or Becks perspective because he's supposed to be a child

I really feel like some people on RU-vid are less critics and more Tom Holland Spider-Man haters like they don’t get the vibes and era of Spider-Man they were going for and why it was good for people to see it. Then all the Spider-Man fans are brought together by one movie.

In a lot of ways I agree, it seems most of the detractors are looking only for a specific era of Spider-Man they want (or they’ve seen to due to movie/tv rights situation) when there are many different eras Spidey has gone through and it’s cool to see a new take on it leading up to the era everyone talks about. Not saying the movies are above critique but a lot of the takes I see actively ignore either parts of the film or other alternative eras/takes on Spidey used in the MCU when they argue against it.
@getmeouttahere1209
@getmeouttahere1209 2 года назад
@@charlestaylorco8713 another thing is critiques don’t understand the smaller struggles modern teens have and just assume whoever worked on the movies didn’t try in that department while people closer to the target age of the main characters relate more. That’s the problem with high school aged Spider-Man is that some of the side stories will only connect to certain people in a certain time. People over 30 should just leave it alone if that’s their main gripe against the movie. What I like about homecoming and ffh is that they also feel like modern teen movies while being superhero tales

@@getmeouttahere1209 I agree, like in Homecoming people complained Peter had “no consequences”, but throughout the whole movie Pete faced multiple consequences just not something on a major life-altering level like NWH, the point was for a smaller scale Spidey story like a shorter comic arc and I think it pulled up beautifully, building its way up through Far From Home culminating into NWH

I fail to see how Peter lack the ability to sympathize with Toomes and Beck. When the former was just using the excuse of losing his job in the past to just make more money for himself and the latter was willing to endanger and kill hundreds and thousands of innocence people out of petty revenge and spite. At least in no way home the villains have at least have mental base issues, that makes them whate asovle for their crimes and that peter was willing to prevent them from dying in their own home universes from said issues. Toomes and Beck however have no exucuse.

I feel like this film let everyone who played in the previous films shine brighter, even the ones who didn't make an impact the first time around. The standout being goblin, obviously. That moment when spider man's spider sense goes off in the apartment was so awesome. It's the most intense we had ever seen his sense be and it spoke volumes to how much crazier and more dangerous Dafoe's goblin was than anything he had faced before where the second the goblin persona took over... his spidersense overwhelmed and blocked out everything else. The entire following scene was near perfect. As the purple outfit he was wearing got shredded and we could see the green armor underneath we got the most accurate Goblin so far. He got to even take it a step further then he did in Tobey's universe and take away someone close to spidey.

So I haven't watched the Raimi movies in a bit so that definitely plays a role in my current take of the Spider-Man films, but personally I have No Way Home in my top 3 Spidey films. For myself at least there's a clear cut top 3, and it's No Way Home, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Verse(still not sure of the order to rank them yet). * * * SPOILER ALERT * * * Personally what I loved about No Way Home is how the ending felt like a proper Spider-Man ending. For as much as I liked Homecoming and Far From Home, they didn't feel like Spider-Man to me because Peter didn't have a proper connection to the villain, and he also didn't do a good job of trying to empathize with them either. But with No Way Home everything that happened was legitimately his fault, not him cleaning up Tony's mess. He also did the best he could to help the villains, only for life to spot in his face for it, but despite all that he still chose to do what he believed was the morally right thing to do, even at his own expense. And for me, that's what made MCU Spider-Man into a proper Spider-Man. He's lost everything at this point, even Aunt May, but he still chooses to do the right thing. Can't get much much more Spider-Man than that imo.

Love your vids Browntable I've been a subscriber for a long time! And I wanted to comment on something that you made me think about in regards to your thoughts on these MCU spidey movies. I don't really get the take that No Way Home is a great movie because of how far it pushed Peter and his character but homecoming and Far From Home sucked because they didn't do anything with his character as big as the 3rd movie. This MCU Peter's story is told in a trilogy, but it's one story meaning each one is going to push him further and further until he has to make the kind of self sacrificing grand decision that he does in No Way Home. If Peter made the kind of change he does in the 3rd movie in the 1st film then what do you have for him to do in the rest of the trilogy? This story and character arc is clearly a planned out one and one that they wanted to be a slow burn. This is a Peter Parker who lives in the MCU, if Homecoming established who he is and gave us glimpses of the hero underneath the naive, star struck good natured but selfish boy Peter was, then Far From Home removed the crutch of Tony Stark from his life and asked how would Peter handle a problem/threat one his own? Poorly is the answer, he spends most of the move not even wanting to get involved because he just wants to talk to a girl he likes and then when things get even worse he starts thinking he's not ever going to be the kind of hero that Stark was... But Stark wasn't a hero because he was always solving problems the 1st time, he always made bad calls and fucked up but THEN he did what was right and fixed them (or tried to). So at the end that's what Peter does. But every action has a consequence so he loses his identity and ultimately has to make the kind of sacrifice that we all know Spider-Man to make if he wants to do what's right. I think No Way Home was a fantastic film and an even better Spider-Man movie but only because Homecoming and Far From Home took the time to let this version of Peter Parker actually grow up and make his mistakes. I hate that I feel like I have to clarify this but I'm not saying that you or anyone who doesn't like any number of these MCU spidey films is wrong, you're entitled to your own opinions. I just wanted to bring up this because your take on Far From Home is one a lot of people share but I don't think it is entirely fair to say that No Way Home is the best of the trilogy just because it gives us the payoff for this version of the character that the other 2 movies helped build up. Just something to think about I guess...

I completely agree with this video. Tbf, I had the same opinions on Homecoming and FFH, I already knew that, so it isn’t too shocking. What is different though, is that I consider this film better than Spider-Man 2002. Not better than Spider-Man 2 and definitely not better than Into the Spider-Verse... but this film is top 3 for me. Tiny SPOILERS: What I think is the best thing this film delivers... is the fact that it promises us that the next trilogy will be even better and be more in tone with Insomniac or Raimi. Also, I really want Spoder-Man to cameo in F4. Trying to get a job, I want to see that on screen.

Imo, I liked No way home is better than the Raimi movies. Mainly cause it hurts so much seeing everything Peter is going through. While Raimi's movies do that, it has a lighter tone. Ofc these movies are without a doubt different, and Raimi's movies without a doubt are more consistent than No Way Home, NWH still feels slightly darker and like we're seeing a new version of the Origin of Spider Man in a way. (Might feel like this since I'm a sucker for origin stories...) I appreciate No Way Home a lot. The weight of this movie is showed me that MCU's Spider Man can be great as well!

Will only critique 2 points regarding Homecoming and Far From Home. Yeah, Toomes was screwed over at 1st, but he's not a blue collar little guy anymore, he's an arms dealer dealing with alien technology that causes a lot of damage. Peter was completely in the right to stop him. As for Far From Home, Beck was freaking psychopath who was bitter Tony took his technology to use for therapy, you know, mental health, something Tony knows all about given his PTSD and would want to help people get over. Beck didn't need help, he needed to be in jail. Granted I didn't like Far From Home became, really, using another villain that has a bone to pick with Tony, let Spiderman be his own man. We could have seen Scorpion and the rise of the Sinister Six, maybe have Toomes be a wild card where you're not sure if he's going to help or hurt Peter, but nope. Granted, this movie fixed all my issues with Far From Home, so I'm not complaining. I agree, this film was great.

I think they went with the direction for the first two films how it went because they wanted a Spider-man to interact with the previous Avengers like Ironman and Cap, but since they knew their contracts were nearing the end, they had to go for a drastic route. Now that all the stuff with previous heroes are done, and since they found a way to explain multiverse shenanigans, they are able to clean the slate and have Spider-man be who we knew he is in the future movies he will be in.

Try to see Far From Home as a part of a three movies long origin story, maybe it will change your view a little. As for Green Goblin, I was overjoyed at how Willem Dafoe stole the show and made it his own. I agree with you, he was way eviler than in Spider-man. In SP, Green Goblin was evil, mean and ruthless, but No Way Home GG is DIABOLICAL. He chose to screw MCU Peter over just because he can and I love him for it!

6:40 Wrong bc Tobey Peter did appeal to Ock's better nature in Spider-Man 2 and Flint's in Spider-Man 3. Even Norman in Spider-Man 1. Andrew Peter tried to reason with Connors and Max, too. Even his version of Goblin. In the other films they couldn't be reasoned with and there was never a chance to really appeal to them until it was too late because their respective Spider-Men were too busy trying not to get killed and they were too caught up in the havoc they were causing to listen anyway. The underlying understanding in the older films was that it was too late to truly save them. Tom Peter was able to help them only bc he was able to capture them and had the technology/magic to do that and develop cures. A lot of it was circumstantial convenience. All the villains knowing Spidey was Peter already and their potential fates were also wake-up calls that made them more willing to change.
