An American masterpiece. An essential and definitive performance.

With such a connection and such precision in the dynamics and the musical gesture, you question other orchestras about the need for a conductor! Bravissimi anyway, wonderful music and excellent interpretation!

So excellent! The Criers did this on Saturday March 16 and Sunday March 17 at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum as part of an all-American composers concert. A Far Cry is a Boston treasure, we are so lucky to have them making gorgeous music year after year right here at home.

Lots of congrats! I love the precision of ensemble, without conducting on this masterpiece. That's a real feat, specially for the accelerando. The sound colours, so melancholic, you use are very beautiful.

Honestly. This makes me feel like we've gone backward to a time before the Gregorian chant was echoing through the great halls of ancient monistaries. It sounds like Moses dreaming about Egypt while tending Jethro's flock. In a way, it makes me wonder what music would be like if we gave it a restart.

I'm late to the party. I just found this last night (March 11, 2023) This is THE BEST performance of this work I have ever heard! It's great!! Thanks for posting it. BUT! this RU-vid brings up an immediate question: is this recording/ concert available for purchase? I'd love to hear the Shostakovich, too. I guess the violin and bass concerto, too, but, as an ancient bassist myself, I have to admit that I am usually unappreciative of music that features the bass. BUT, I'm open to new ideas and works (kinda. ... sometimes. ... every so often?). Anyway, I'd like to purchase a recording/ video of this concert performance if it is available.

Is this the modular version or the one for string orchestra?
