First HBO Boxing and Now SHOWTIME PBC. This really hit me, Boxing won’t ever be the same. So many memories watching some of the Greatest Boxing Matches in Boxing History on SHOWTIME and now it comes to an end. I was Glad to see the last fight and witness some good match ups tonight. R.I.P SHOWTIME PBC 🥊
The world is really changing. I went from watching Tuesday night fights on USA. Friday night flights on espn. Hbo boxing and showtime boxing. 😢 thanks for the great memories 💯🥊🥊
compare this to the HBO boxing farewell on their final broadcast, and you'll agree, Showtime goes out second best...and that is still, damn. F^cking. Great. RIP Showime Boxing.
Illegal streaming is what happened there just isn't the money in boxing that there use to be. Companies like HBO and Showtime wouldn't have walked away if the numbers made sense.
@@Itsmattz even top level fights are struggling on PPV the illegal streaming is so easy it's taken a lot of money out of the sport it's just not worth HBO and Showtime being involved. These companies crunched the numbers and came to the conclusion it's not worth it the profit margins just aren't there anymore
Glad I went to a major event this summer on a now CLASSIC Boxing network like Showtime. Spence-Crawford was the first fight I ever saw live in person, & traveled for the first time out of state. Won't be the last either, but I doubt there will be a historic feel to these fights like SHO & HBO did for its production.
Thank You Showtime, Jimmy, Al, Dave, Jim for making this our generation of Fighters. The Streets wil NEVER EVER Forget where we come from. 😢🥺😔 1983-2023. -Recovery_009.
Thank You Showtime Boxing so many memories I cant count em all ! Staying up Fridays and Saturdays for all these fights. Cant believe this the last hurrah but man ended it with such a great year of boxing ! I was lucky enough to be in the building for the FOTY in 2016 and it was a memorable experience. So once again thank you for all those who made Showtime Boxing possible !
What bums me out about this is that Showtime (and HBO) put on a great production, which may one day be seen as old school. People had a comportment. For that reason this feels like losing a bit more than one network’s show.
There will never be such a classic like HBO and Showtime boxing am Thankful that I got to experience them both in my lifetime Thankyou for all the wonderful memories👊❤
My oldest son was 22 months old when the first telecast of Showtime Championship Boxing came on the air on 10 March, 1986, and now, my oldest son is 39 and Showtime Championship Boxing is, no pun intended, knocked out cold after 37 years! Gone are the days of Steve Albert, Ferdie Pacheco and Bobby Czyz and Mauro Ranallo, Al Bernstein and Paulie Malignaggi, gone is the old-school Showtime jingle from 1980-84, gone is Sir Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting,” gone are the promo voiceovers of Bob Perry, Victor Caroli and Bill St. James, gone are Steve Albert yelling “DOWN GOES (name of boxer!)” and Mauro Ranallo yelling “MAMMA MIA!” and gone is Jimmy Lennon Jr. saying “It’s Showtime!” To quote the late John Madden… “They can take boxing away from Showtime, but they can’t take away the memories” and to quote the late Olivia Newton-John… “I love you, I honestly love you!”
Thank you for all the great fights over the years. End of an era, great fights, great memories, great team (Bernstein, Ranallo, Mares, Custer, Lennon jr). Love you showtime 🥊🥊🥊💯💯💯☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽
Idk if it was just me but I absolutely loved All Access and 24/7. Didn’t matter if I knew the fighters or not it made me see the work boxers put in and made me closer to the fighters in a way. Gonna miss all that😔
Boxing promoters have to let the PPV model go. It's killing boxing so that a handful of boxers can live like kings. Make the fights free to watch. Most people illegally stream anyway. Picture in picture ads, more sponsors, and ticket sales can replace the small amount of lost revenue. If it means the top boxers get 1 million per fight instead of 10 million, so be it.
I was privileged to be able to Freelance as an A2 audio assistant for both Showtime and HBO, on some of the best and most incredible fights ever televised, from the late 80s into the early 2000s. Both production teams were top notch, professional, and considered at the pinnacle of storytelling when it came to fighter bios, stats, and the ever present "hype" that invariably came along with the territory. I will forever treasure the memories of those many shows, in Las Vegas & beyond...and especially of the PEOPLE behind the scenes! It is truly the end of an grear era!
First USA Network with the Tuesday Night Fights, Then ESPN with the Friday Night Fights, The HBO with the Boxing After Dark and Championship Boxing and now Showtime getting out of the game. Sadly, the common man is not going to be able to watch a good boxing match anymore for a decent price, unless they want to pay Pay Per View Prices. Very sad day.
I grew up during the Mayweather-Pacquiao era and have countless memories watching HBO and Showtime boxing. What really struck me was the amount of passion these two networks put into covering this sport. Each event they put on was like watching a movie. It wasn’t like a typical sports game, it was more like cinema. And on top of that, they both maintained their quality from the beginning to the end. It is so sad to see both of them gone, but hopefully one day a new network will come along and give this sport the recognition it deserves.
First HBO and NOW SHOWTIME Smh 🤦♂️ it FEELS like two of my boxing 🥊 parents have PASSED!!! Both of these networks grew me up ⬆️ with BOXING 👊🏽 RIP 🪦 to both Smh 🤦♂️ 😢
RIP Showtime Boxing March 10th 1986 - December 16th 2023 ⚰ now in the casket with HBO. The boxing business will never be the same again, the future is bright but it won't feel right without Showtime
This makes me so sad, and proud to be a boxing fan at the same time. The sport will live on, but a piece of it’s heart will be missing. Thanks for the memories Showtime 🥊❤️
I can't believe this. Thank everyone of you, behind the cameras and beyond them, (managment) but mostly, to the Great Athletes of the past. Wicked fights. I ❤ combat sports.
Rip showtime thank you for making boxing soo much fun and easy for us to tune in and catch all the latest drama before the major fight events and undercards
