I grew up in this place. There is no place like it. I often remember my healthy, relative safe, strong upbringing. Where you hike a mountain in the morning and be at the beach in the afternoon enjoying the sun fishing or spear fishing. A few days ago I lost my last connection to São Miguel, a Cão de Fila de São Miguel named Fuzo (short for Fuzileiro) he always reminded me of the raw, natural and rustic beauty of this island. Rest in peace my loyal companion.
I grew up on Sao Miguel in the 80s. In my opinion it was better back then. People didnt have much, lived off the land but there was no theft. People respected other peoples property. People left their doors unlocked with the key in the lock. There was integrity. The new generation isnt the same. My parents still have their house there and it is contstantly being broken into. Still a nice quiet place to live and I will retire there in a couple of years. Island living is for me.
I have had the distinct honour of sailing across the Atlantic Ocean twice in sailboats from the Caribbean. Our first and only stop is always Horta on our crossings. I have traveled more than the average human and I have seen some remarkable places on Our incredible Earth. In my humble opinion, the Azores are the most beautiful, tranquil, peaceful place in the World.
This video made me emotional. I grew up in a part of California with lots of Azoreans/Portuguese, so I long knew about this place before it got more popular (hopefully, not too popular). Seeing this natural beauty and the simple, communal life that people here try to preserve is so touching. I pray humans take better care of our only home.
My DNA results surprised me by saying that my family came from Azores about 160 years ago. I knew little about the place as googled it but I am now very much amazed. This is definitely my next vacation destination
My jaw fell when I went there for the first time.... Paradise. Absolute paradise. I kept asking locals if they where constantly planting flowers justo to impress turists - the entire São Miguel Island looks like a huge garden.
Haven't been back since I arrived in the United states in 1977 still have dreams of my homeland even tho I was 8 years old when I left this beautiful island, hopefully someday I can go revisit sao miguel, acores.
Edmundo Rosa Honestly, do not hesitate. I was born in Toronto to Azores emigrants and went there for the first time in 2012. That trip inspired in me a desire to one day move there. There is a good reason the word paradise is frequently used to describe this lush island. My niece arrived there today and I can't wait to hear what she says when she gets back. I'm sure you have some vivid memories from before you left. Do whatever you need to do to get there sooner. Seriously, go on and do it. You will likely regret it if you don't.
Erick Sousa Olá tenho uma casa para passar umas boas férias um AL. É a casa do galante Porto judeu número 67 boking. Com. Fica na ilha Terceira. Obrigado
My dad is from this Island and came from humble beginnings . He passed away when I was two and I never got to really know my family. However, I want nothing more then to visit the Azores and spend time there in peace
I live in canada visited manny Caribbean islands and debated with the family about purchasing a place to visit. I visited Maui and its butifull , clean and nice golf courses. I had the pleasure of going to Portugal for a visit on feb 5 2020. I decided to have a layover in Sao Miguel for ten hours so i can see the island with the family. Let me tell you its my first time, got a cab driver at the airport 7am when I landed on feb 6 2020, he took us (family) to all the important locations. Just breath taking. The good thing was that he had been living in Canada and spoke English even though I spoke Portuguese. Highly recommend.
My family is from the Azores, I have never been and I am Portuguese , but born in Rhode Island. My family immigrated to America for a better life, I have all my Grandparents records for dual citizenship. I am working on it. I really want to visit and maybe live there for awhile...it is quite beautiful, rich in culture and history.....and the wine...oh my!
Arguably just about the most beautiful, tranquil, spotlessly clean, soothing place I’ve even been. And I’ve been to a lot of beautiful places across the globe.
Ever since I saw the grainy home videos my mom made when she visited at a young age, and heard stories from my Avo, I've been obsessed with visiting my home island. I hope one day soon to be able to see everything it has to offer, and find my roots in it's beauty. This made me cry, I've never seen a video so beautiful showing off the gorgeous views, and the places I've heard of from my Avo, or seen faraway google images of. Thank you so much. Obrigado.
My father in law left this island when he was in his early 20's and we took him back in 2012, 53 years later. He was so excited to be back and to visit relatives he thought he would never see again. Beautiful island, great people and I will definately be back. Thanks for sharing.
I was born in Sao Miguel but for 47 years i have lived i Canada , traveled to Brasil, China , Philippines and still no place like it. No place like home
I used to mess round with google earth when i found this place i wanted to know why i didnt know about it. I knew all the other islands in europe i was gobsmacked at its lush beauty it has everything one would want from a paradise i havent visited yet but I already feel its where I want to grow old and die. Just amazing place. Would i rather live in a mansion in a city or a shack on azores such a easy decision. This type of surroundings is good for the mind body and soul. City life sucks
Amazing aerial cinematography revealing a beautiful landscape of earth and sea! And people living lives less complicated, more balanced, closer to nature and tradition, from a time almost forgotten.
Simplesmente do melhor que tenho visto ultimamente. Qualidade de fotografia, uma simbiose correta entre a música e a narrativa das imagens e uma edição cuidada e limpa. Como Micaelense, os meus parabéns.
Lucky enough to have travelled around this beautiful world and i cant choose between New Zealand and a miniature NZ, the Azores. The nine islands are astonishingly beautiful with Flores being my favourite.
Watching this made me tear up. Sao Miguel is where my family is from before they emigrated to America and wow, what an amazing place. Wish I could be there now.
Your video could not be done any better 👍 Such wonderful aerial shots that flowed seamlessly from one location to the next. Complemented perfectly with the gentle accompanying music. You have presented this beautiful island about as well as it could be. I liked the way the video ended as well. My first thought was "cows in paradise" haha
The Azores are geologically exciting, and aesthetically idyllic! What is it about islands? Madeira, the Azores, Sicilia; all absolutely superb. Returning to Sao Miguel, Faial and Pico on Saturday! Book through ARCHIPELAGO CHOICE in the English Lake District. They are the specialists for Cape Verde and the Azores.
ARQUIPÉLAGO DOS AÇORES UM PARAÍSO AQUI NA TERRA. E QUE FALA O MESMO IDIOMA QUE EU FALO. QUEM SABE UM DIA AINDA IREI VISITAR ESSE PARAÍSO. MARAVILHA. ENCANTO.
Amazing job capturing this Islands beauty. I spent 3 weeks there and took over 300 pics and not one of my pictures can even come close to what it's like being there. The Island is majestic
Maravilhoso!! E pensar que centenas de milhares de pessoas no Brasil, Estados Unidos e Canadá descendem de açorianos que saíram de suas ilhas há mais de 100 anos na busca de dias melhores, entre eles meus antepassados de Água Retorta - Povoação.
I'm glad to know about this place today :) Azores is listed as the "Hidden Secret of Atlantic" in the "METROPLUS Travel", a weekly travel supplementary of India's nation newspaper "The Hindu" (Nov 09, 2017).
Vendo a Ilha de Sao Miguel, a belíssima Ilha do Arcanjo, deu-me ca umas saudades profundas da minha querida Ilha Terceira e do meu lugar do coração, a terra da minha Mae, a terra-chã, terra de muita gente, do escritor Joel Neto, do poeta Jose da lata. Meu abraço desde Oslo, Noruega
