I've played the Atelier series since Rorona. My wish list would be remasters of the much older games. After playing the Legendary Alchemists game, I would have like to see the characters from that in their original games.

Me too, at some point I’m planning to play from Marie onwards, whether they get translated or not. But I would much prefer if we got DX’s of each one! Especially Mana Khemia since it was on PS2 in English :)

Getting in the Atelier series for me was an uphill climb. However as I continued to play through Ryza 1 (which was my first game that i played in the series) I started to LOVE this even more than I though even after getting the sequel and Lulua I will continue to play these games for more years to come

I preordered the Mysterious trilogy a few days ago! I am so happy it got released yesterday!! I’ve been wanting to play this trilogy for a very long time but only had a Nintendo switch and wanted to wait for a potential dx version- and I’m so happy it did. My first Atelier was Lulua, but I’ve also played the Dusk dx trilogy, Ryza 1 & 2 and am planning on playing the Arland dx trilogy soon! The visuals are looking really good on switch, but I don’t know if it’s better than before as I haven’t played them previously. Edit- In Atelier Sophie, there are a couple of frame drops every now and then but I’m okay with that

My second Atelier Trilogy; had a blast playing them. If you find the ending lackluster in 'Atelier Meruru' like I did 'Atelier Lulua' will pick up what was left over and adds so much to the world of Arland. And in my opinion has one the the best turn based battle systems in a JRPG.

I am planning to sell a couple of game myself so I can grab the pack before the sale on them ends on the 28th on Steam. I've got Nioh 2 on my PC anyway, so once I finally give a thorough clean and possibly some sort of cooling I can play there and even enjoy the online elements, and Pokemon Sword is fine but I am not particularly attached to it.

Thanks for the coverage JRPG Jungle! I'm really excited to play these as I've only ever heard good things about this subseries, especially Sophie. Too bad they stopped dubbing in English after Firis. They had great and entertaining dubs, and it really is a shame to lose that content, especially as the series has only become more and more popular in recent times. For anyone interested in Switch specific coverage of the Atelier series on that console, I highly recommend the Reviews 2 Go youtube channel. He specializes in handheld game reviews, even goes into detail on things like battery life and docked vs undocked visuals, etc. He'll probably cover these after he finishes playing them again, as he has been streaming them recently.

I admit, I am super torn on this one. I'm super happy that Firis and Sophie are on Switch for the first time, but as someone who bought Lydie & Suelle on Switch on day one to support the series... and still haven't played much of it (to be fair, that part is my fault... backlog do be like that) I wish there was at least some way upgrade the version I own to the DX version. It's an annoying trend, especially after Persona 5 Royal and Dragon Quest XI S on PS4 did the same thing... it makes me feel kind of burned. That said, I will probably go for the physical bundle on PlayAsia for Switch, I guess I'll just own Lydie & Suelle twice xD
@maroXUprising
@maroXUprising 3 года назад
Agreed with the sentiment there. Bought lydie & suelle on switch, wanted to support anything Koei tecmo/gust related after playing through Nights of Azure 2 on switch. though unlike your situation, I had spent around 100hr’s & manage to finish it, both good & true ends obtained (it was my first atelier game) tinkering with the Synthesis system was quite interesting. Nevertheless, I’m glad that The mysterious games are all on switch. (And it seems with this DX. The frame rate on lydie & suelle is more Better compared to the O.G release.) Now, I’m hoping that Gust & Koei tecmo will eventually make like a DX collection for some of their other games. (Night’s of azure 1-2 DX,I really want that...and of course a blue reflection DX, since blue reflection Second light is coming to switch.)

Lydie is my very first game in Atelier Series that I start play back in 2018. After play it, I fall in love with the Serie and play Rorona,Totori,Meruru,Sophie,Lulua,Firis,Ryza,Ayesha,Escha,Shallie,Nelke,Maria,Elie and Ryza 2. Like now I try Lydie DX but I don't know that I will continued it or not cause I already get true ending from this game. Sadly that old save can't use for DX so my true ending save is no point anymore.

Ohh~~I'm really excited for this trilogy re:release. The Mysterious trilogy were the Atelier games to pique my interest for the series, though I didn't start with them and instead went with the Dusk trilogy on my Vita/PS3. It's nice to have an even bigger excuse to go through these games that have been for oh-so very long stuck in my never ending backlog x-D. A bit disappointed in how they treated the dub but nonetheless it's not too big a deal for me personally (I mean,,,,,the Japanese V.O already has more voiced lines anyway which is a whole 'nother debacle honestly )

I just bought Sophie like 2 months ago in Steam and I even haven't played it yet because of my backlog. I wish they provide options to buy just an upgrade pack if you have the original base game. But that is probably unlikely to happen, since you know, money lol! It feels like most Japanese games developers/publishers are not as generous as Western ones.

I own Lulua but have never actually played any of the Atelier games. Would you recommend this over Ryza to start with?
@Mota1455
@Mota1455 3 года назад
I'd say it depends on the type of gameplay you like. The Ryza games play a bit more like a standard JRPG with crafting, where some of the older Atelier games are more built around the crafting than the adventuring. I still haven't tried this trilogy, but it looks closer to the Arland games than it does to Ryza.
@ralfsstuff

@@Mota1455 I guess the trilogy would be better then because it's closer to the "Atelier" experience. Thank you.🙏
@PloysMaw

The original Sophie is where I started so given my own experience and playing 11 other Atelier games plus the spin off I'd say yes. But since you already have Lulua play that and what you think; Atelier Lulua is my fave Atelier hands down for a number of reasons mainly because of the battle system. And I'll say it's not a bad jumping off point for the series even if it's the fourth game in the Aland sub-set. Since it doesn't rely on prier knowledge of the past Aland games for the core story.
@ralfsstuff
@ralfsstuff 3 года назад
@@PloysMaw Ok. I'll do that then. Saves me money anyways. The reasons I kind of ignored Lulua so far were that I prefer Ryza's aesthetics and the trilogy might have had more continuity. If Luluabl really can be enjoyed by itself that's the best option.

@PloysMaw 3 года назад
My physical copy of all three games are on it's way. :) Atelier Sophie was my first Atelier so when the DX versions trailer dropped I preordered the games ASAP from Play-Asia. All 3 games are very fun and I highly recommend them; side note both Atelier Sophie and Firis were the last games to receive dubs which is a shame. Another thing to take into consideration is that 'Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey' does have a time limit. I can't wait to play them again and I'm interested to see the more stable framerate of Lydie & Suelle on the Switch version.

The original Sophie is where I started so given my own experience and playing 11 other Atelier games plus the spin off I'll say yes. But I'm in the frame of mind that if you pick the older games (Aland and Dusk) be aware that they have time limits. As for Ryza I'm on the fence since it's not turn based and few other inclusions make it feel different compared to the other games. Still fun though.

While I really like they made the DX version, I have to say there is one drawback in the Steam/PC version. Compared to the original non-DX version there are some serious graphic downgrades in the DX version. It looks like they used the switch graphic assets and slapped them on the PC version. There are enough examples going around, but to name a few: Fields that in the original game had flowers and plant growing everywhere, are no just flat plain textures. Pools of water that where shiny and reflective are now just black blobs. The list goes on. In short - It's a very visible downgrade! While that's maybe needed to make the game playable on the switch, it has absolutely no place on the PC. While it's nice to have new content in the DX version, I really don't get why they could not kept the original graphic quality for the PC. I really do not get what makes it so difficult to port the graphics from the older game to the new version. It makes me hesitant to buy the DX version to be honest.
@JRPGJungle

That’s a big bummer, I saw some of the screenshots on Twitter after posting my video and was pretty surprised. I felt the same when they rereleased Dragon Quest XI S on Switch and PS4, with the PS4 DQXIS version having the Switch level graphics, so I can understand it’s annoying. It’d be nice if they had an add-on for the original so people could play how they want for sure!

a great intro to the Japanese gaming market. where publishers will make you spend a lot of money because they assume you have no life. If you own the previous games for PC or PS4 you might think twice to buy the DX version since the graphics are downgraded: www.reddit.com/r/Atelier/comments/mwpuiv/atelier_mysterious_dx_pc_downgrade/ But if you are playing on the Switch this collection is well worth it. Not only does it improve the Lydie & Suelle game but brings also the two missing games to the Switch.
