Nailed it 37.2m [5 into 3 = 0.6] 62 multiplied by 0.6 = 37.2

I've had algebra engraved in my brain and I ended up solving it with 3 * x = 5, x = 1.6667, 62 divided by 1.6667 = roughly 37.2

Hi there, I am subscribed to your channel because I am a mother of 9 year old twins. Sometimes you solve questions pertinent to our age group or upcoming school syllabuses. But I have to comment today because this question made me laugh so much! I see why children complain about the relevancy of this to everyday life (myself included when I was a child... Who am i kidding?! I complain now, too). I feel this question can only be improved by adding in that a cat that was hanging out 3m from the top of the tree was frightened by a loud noise and jumped at a 40° trajectory from the tree. How far away from the tree did he fall if he did a backflip on the way down? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks for posting! Watching you from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 in the Caribbean.

This is a proportion: 3/5 = X/62 => 5X = 186 => X = 37,2 m.

Sounds similar to Feynman's question about flagpole and the loose rope

a ratio problem... NOT Horatio.. . classic a/b = c/d in algebra we maintain equal properties on either side of the "=" sign. In ratios we maintain the fractional value of numerator to denominator; a/b. We maintain the ratio. In this problem the ratio, fraction of actual to shadow is: 3m tall/5m shadow or 0.6 act-per-shad inverted: 5m/3m = 1.67 shad-per-act all uprights have shadows: 1.67 greater. all shadows have actuals: 0.6 lesser if the tree's shadow is 62m what's its actual? 62m shad/1.67 shad-per-act or 62m shad × 0.6 act-per-shad = 37.2m act see how shad × act/shad => act ??

You give the impression (around 4:50) that you know flat-earthers use your videos to proof their nonsense (your video " Celestial Navigation Math" for example) . They will take no notice of any context and assumptions you admit. You have a flat baseline shared by the pole and tree and shown that they are similar triangles, therefore you have used maths (or math!) to prove the earth is flat.

This is quandary that physicists struggle with over large scale analysis of particle physics vs. small scale. Newton's analysis is just fine for entry level mechanics but Einstein added all kinds of variations.
