I have to say, not all homeless people are there by choice or vices.i was homeless 20 years ago for most of a year in the rural northeast. Snow rain even a hurricane. Imagine coming "home " in the natl forest to your tent collapsed under snow and having to set up camp once again.my bathing was in a freezing cold lake. I managed to somehow hold a full time horse job and take good care of my two dogs and claw my way back to life. There is nothing more degrading or demoralizing than being homeless.
Like that one flash you get of the alien-like face of the angel before his face is blurred out...gave me nightmares for weeks. Imagine children not only seeing this, but seeing this plus them being naked. Absolutely disgusting and traumatizing.
We are all suffering for their bad choices. My community has spent, I don’t know how many taxpayer dollars to put two parks downtown to bring in tourism and better our lives. All they did was build a place for homeless people to hang out and do drugs. The bleeding hearts around here seem to think that all the homeless drug addicts in our town are just good people down on their luck. I’ve had arguments where a woman said that if you own more than one home, you should just give one of them to a homeless person you have no right to own property that you’re not using when there are people out there that don’t have homes.absolutely ridiculous. You can have as many homes as you want as long as you’ve worked hard for the money.

As an old broad with a disability, I assume people know I'm a person. They don't need to refer to me as a person with a disability, a person that is old or a person that has grey hair. Old grey haired lady with a cane works just fine, or however somebody wants to say it. People's word choice should be up to them. Listening to how different people say the same thing is part of the spice of life. And shows people's individual personality or background.
I think the relatively recent surge in homelessness comes down to the improvement of tents; they are easier to carry, put up, and take down. No more heavy canvas, or having to drive pegs into the ground. It's all very convenient. I also wonder how many of those tents are donated by activist organizations who buy them up by the thousands. Tent companies must be cleaning up, and who knows? Maybe they are a very powerful lobby at this point. Big Tent. In any case, it has become a circus.

I live in Toronto & struck up a conversation with 2 women from Los Angeles eating in the restaurant booth next to mine. They described the horrors of the tent cities there and were suitably impressed with Toronto's 'better maintained' homeless encampments. I pointed out that until a few years ago (at least since the 'Hoovervilles' of the 1930s) tent cities did not exist in Toronto. Effectively conditioned by Newsom's dystopian policies, they now believe tent encampments are fine as long as they're 'nicer' than the ones in LA - not that nobody should, either by choice or unfortunate circumstance, be living that way.
I think every man deep down has a small desire to live in a tent with no responsibilities. My 7 year old son said something along the lines of how when you got nothing, you got nothing to lose. No idea where he heard that, but had to agree, while also explaining to him how much better my life has become as a result of him, his sister and his mother, before explaining that real happiness/joy can only be shared with others who you love and care about.
If we allow people to live in tents, we should offer trash pickup and some sort of safe porta potty toilets. If the local gov't wants to let these tents exist & then complain about trash and turds on the street, at least provide the sane folks an amenity.

When it comes to homeless people, I always put it this way. Just think about if you fell on hard times. Even if you lost your house and all of your possessions tomorrow, would you automatically live on the streets? Almost everybody would have a friend or loved one that they could rely on for a place to sleep. Homeless people have burned every bridge with everybody in their life to the point that those who know them won't even allow them to stay with them. They've thrown away everything and essentially chose to live on the street rather than treat their loved ones with enough respect to be allowed to lean on them.

When I heard the term raw dogging I definitely thought it was going to be men exposing themselves on the plane or something. Lol! I actually do this all the time. I wait in line or waiting room, etc, without looking at my phone. I’m also not on social media. I have no desire to stare at my phone and it feels like a blessing. My kids actually point out all the people who have their faces stuck in their phone while we play “I spy” together. It’s good to just stand/sit and observe… you miss a lot of really cool things when your head is down.

In my small town in a red area of a blue state, people from the cities they ruined are moving in to enjoy the more rural atmosphere, so it's getting more left, along with the young "natives" who have been trained to be left by public school. They get on Facebook and complain about us old people who are not left enough. A first ever in town drag show is being advertised at the local FOP hall. I am too old to go protest. I am praying for really bad weather and a low turnout.
