Watched this a second time, and noticed more details. It really doesn't need more bravura dancing earlier on. Like Coppelia, it works because of the characters and the pantomime. That final Waltz makes me cry; it's so beautiful. This is just perfect.

Its the grand finale in a danish wedding. Snatched right out of this ballet. At wedings couples often take dance classes as part of the preparation. It mattets to do it decent. Traditionally the dance must take place before midnight. If you are interested, search any of the royal wedding wideos. Perhaps the silversniversy walx of th Queen and consort Henrik is uploaded too. Enjoy

@@henrietteseljepil5919 I did know that the Danes used it in weddings, and had seen some clips. What a perfectly romantic and beautiful tradition. Thank you for replying. I love this ballet, and really everything I have seen the Royal Danish Ballet do.

Thank you, Astrid. I'm reliving a visit of the company to New York City in 1988 - I still have my program!

I loved seeing this ballet...THANK YOU! I am a fan of Bournonville technique and I incorporate it very often into my ballet instruction (I am a studio owner and dance teacher). Beautiful ballet and I must say, I prefer "happy endings"!

Thank you so much; what a treat! I have been wanting to see this ballet for a long time; I have the CD, but I had never seen it. This was really a beautiful production. Love the story, the music, the characters. Wish there was a little more dancing in it, but it is of the period it was created. That Finale wedding section is just a knock-out. I really love this ballet!!

Great fun, polished and elegant. Do they have a ballet with a Cyrano or a Quasimodo character in lead that's also good box-office?

I thought the characterization of Miss Birthe in scene one was very overdone and vulgar. I didn't feel like watching much more after that, but I did. The sets and costumes were very lovely. Even to the end, Birthe was not a sympathetic character.
