hmong sweet pork, or braised pork belly ~
This dish is a hmong food I grew up eating, but I know other cultures have slight variations of this under a different name. Food is something we all have in common, so.. what do you call this?
✨written recipe + measurements
- jasmineandtea....
📝 grocery list
pork belly, skin on
eggs
garlic
lemongrass
ginger
galangal
sugar + water
oil
salt
low-sodium soy sauce
oyster sauce
fish sauce
dark soy sauce
**all of the ingredients I use can be found in my amazon storefront
-- www.amazon.com...
Don’t be intimidated by this slightly lengthy list of ingredients. This recipe is extremely simple - even a beginner cook can do it! Most of the cooking time is completely hands off and you’ll be left with the most tender pork belly that’s soft enough to be cut with a spoon :)

This reminds of of a dish my Mimi makes called “pork and egg” (idk how to pronounce it in Vietnamese). My dad married a wonderful Vietnamese lady and I love anything Vietnamese. I’m not Vietnamese myself but I love the culture I was adopted into. My Mimi is everything to me and I love her so much. Especially her cooking! I’m happy to see something that reminds me a a little bit of home. Thank you so much 😊

You can't eat that. When Christ returns .. he's killing everyone eating swine flesh Isaiah 66:16-17 [16]For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. [17]They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD. Knowledge is power. Live.

There’s just too many way to cook it. Here, in this part of the Midwest, they would marinate the pork and boiled egg in Oyster Sauce and browned the pork before mixing all the same ingredients together. Honestly, the only place you find it is at funerals. Maybe a wedding if you’re lucky. Otherwise, it’s just not cook very frequently if at all.
