I want to like this show and maybe we'll get there, but a lot of the time this show feels like it's a sequel to something and I am missing context.

it's literally still the prologue, they're simply building the setting and the various story threads. Not understanding everything is normal, it will come in due time.

@@heavyarms55 no it's not, it's still introducing what you need to know while placing future plot point. If you think about it, you still don't know what's the story's goal is. You know the setting, a magic school, you know the main cast, but not the story. That's the only proof you need to know you're still in the prologue of said story :).

What do you think you need to know that your missing? The characters were just as new to setting as we were. Like they are literally new students at magic academy. What more early point in the story could one need?

It feels that way because the anime is skipping a lot of content making the characters one dimensional. There is so much in the novels that is not being covered by the anime

As cool as the main show is. I always feel like I’m missing a better story. Like Nanao during war or whatever Oliver used to do. Or just the whole world. It’s like they’ve plucked the least interesting story in this world to tell.

The pacing in the anime is pretty bad, they are skipping a lot of content for some reason. Like, in the anime the characters feel one dimensional but they have so much more depth in the novels
