My grandpa was a boxer back in the 50s in Scotland. When I was around twelve he took me out to the garage and started showing some boxing techniques and I can remember him saying michael always remember first and foremost to stay calm and control your breathing. And your jab is your best friend while you right cross is your most effective weapon. Never had a fight but I'm thinking he was probably right..
It's funny because in my teens a started studying a in the arts I earned two black belts by the age of 26 one in a Japanese system know as kar du jujitsu rue all throught high school and into my early twenties. After awhile I realized that a Korean system had emphasized more on their kicking and we all know if you can kick hard and correctly you wouldn't need anything else so I began studying taekwondo where at around the 4 year mark I was wearing a black belt teaching all of the kids classes. Still never a real fight ! Now at 56 years old with a severe immune deficiency fighting is the last thing on my mind. But I did enjoy sparring a Lot !!
I'm so glad that I got a notification with only a week between your last video. Glad you are back. Not only are you a great teacher sir, you also have a great and funny personality.
I can't ever imagine this dude in a real fight (not sport). He seems too cool, and chilled, to even let it get that far. He'd end up having a beer with an aggressor and giving him a hug.
Real fighters don't even waste their time fighting in the street unless it's really necessary. That aggression is released in the gym and it's just the basic principal of a fighter. I could imagine if he ever did get in a fight with anyone in the street, it be over quick.
Most people who CAN fight, are the same way. Because they KNOW when shit gets real, they'll stay calm, in their zone, and handle business. Most fake ass alphas that can't really fight, but think, or try to show, that they're bad asses, try to use intimidation tactics to scare others away from fighting them, because deep down, they KNOW they're incapable. Plus, training hard gets rid of a LOT of aggression. If more people trained hard daily, there'd be a lot less raging going on
It's been 10 days. I've done this 8 times (2 per day, first left then right, with rest in between.) So feel free to make that cross workout. I'll be waiting. Appreciate all you do my man.
Yes trav love that your back on RU-vid to save us from our children!! By the way all his training programmes are gold, i for one love the knife defence!
I'm 60 years old, still doing weights, done wrestling and boxing for years on and off, but not done any boxing for the last 15 years. And you are right, I've seen good boxers finish fights with just one punch, when free fighting, or on the streets against the different styles of fighters around. The power of a boxer and his punching power are often overlooked, with the many different styles of fighting that you can do nowadays. Your video's have just inspired me to start doing bag work again, thanks.
Thanks joe. You got me into the best shape of my life. After a surgery I was down for four months and screwed it all up. Now I’m back down 23 lbs and starting my hiits up again
My dudes.. if i had the extra dough i would purchase anything this guy sells!! I’ve been following him for years and he is a real centered solid hilariously good person 😊
The best tip I ever heard with tucking the chin is to hold a tennis ball to your chest with your chin while you drill stuff to develop it into muscle memory.
I been subscribed to you for 5 years and love all your videos I just wish you upload more videos because COVID really is making it hard not to stay bored
Hey Trav, can you please make a video on how to make a training routine for the sake of those who can't buy your programs yet. If you do I will subscribe.
Hey Trav, thanks for the video, and thanks for all you do. Your content is always practical and your delivery is always entertaining. If you get the chance, any tips on footwork for the double lead hook. Thanks for your time. Stay safe and well
Love this and all your videos! Unfortunately no bag at home right now but I DO have a focus ball I can smack around while training and this video is perfect.
You have a good business model and you communicate well. Keep this up and I think you can scale it out. With corona (horrible) working out at home is ideal. Many new biz models will be created from this. Good luck and stay healthy.
Awesome jabs got some stank on them. So when I do an 8 minute workout like this do you recommend doing it as part of a longer workout or just making this the sole workput
How f#€en cool it is that you show people how to defend themselves just to HELP THEM! I just think the world could use a lot more people who use their knowledge to TEACH, not to preach. Much respect, my friend.
Is it a bad habit to always step left with my jab? Plus I notice your left is a little low because you’re about to use it, is this deliberate or are you just dropping it a little to invite counterable shots/easier jabbing
