Furniture Makeovers & Projects On The Homestead / Get Motivated, Organized & Creative
How I Stay Motivated To Be Organized and Creative / My Homestead Furniture Makeover Projects Before and Afters.
This spring on the homestead, I have been completely motivated and focused with spring organizing, cleaning and transformation projects.
In this video I discuss how I get inspired as well as stay motivated and despite the budget for ALL of these projects combined being $60, I make transformations on my homestead by shopping my shed and using what I already have from past projects over the years, which affects the creative decisions and outcomes.

Welcome to Moat Cottage Homesteading, I'm Elissa and here at Moat Cottage, we raise and grow and process some of our own free range meat, organic vegetables and fruit. We grow all of our herbs for both eating and medicinal purposes as well as hunt, fish and forage.
Our goal each season is to preserve our produce for the year ahead by canning, dehydrating, fermenting and freezing and we work on being prepared for emergency situations.
Avoiding single use plastic, chemicals and artificial fragrances is important to us and we are trying to live an older style life, balanced with this modern world.

Hi Elissa, I’ve started planting out the summer vegetable crop and I am bottle feeding an orphan lamb.

@moatcottage... Hi Elissa, 👋 it's been a while since I've been here to comment. Your changes are beautiful. I'm glad you've been so happily busy. Yes. Spring Rain brings flooding...glad to see your happy chickens. It's autumn here. I've spent over a year trying to get through a malignant melanoma diagnosis and aftermath. I'm finally starting to feel like I'm getting back to normal. But normal is now less for me. Lol😊. I have had to deal during my recovery with the landlord's repair schedule. But that has been a good thing. The front of the house had to be repaired. Roof leaks had molded the walls basically through. Damaged the windows and the door frame. So that entailed basically removing everything I could. While it was out, I sorted, decluttered and reorganized half of it. The other half got stuck in 1 room to be dealt with hopefully over this winter. We will see how it goes. Landlord also added central air system with added vents to what we used to have for heat...that has helped a lot. Being in a car accident in May also slowed me down and hindered some of the removal of unwanted items. Sorting & reorganizing my food storage has helped me put more of my canning, dehydrating & recipes together and easier to get to. That has helped immensely. I've also gotten all my quilting, crafting, yarning, family to gifting items together in the same room. Sorting those out is next in the queue at the moment... subject to change of course, depending on how life goes. It's amazing how things pile up over 20+ years. Lol😮. Woodworking and remaking things over appears beyond me these days but I can enjoy others doing so.

Everything looks great! I really love your larder. The way you have organised your canned food and dry food storage.

That pizza looks fantastic and nakes me hungry . Haha. The table looks very solid , im glad you refinished it so it has many more years of service . Everything looks great and you got so many projects completed. Chickens look so bedraggled when they're wet , poor chooks. Im glad they have dry spots to wait out the rain. ❤ We have the opposite here , super dry . The dam is almost down to mud , the tanks are low with a 6 week wait for a water truck which makes planning absolutely essential. The best news is that we have the first ,very fancy and expensive to natch , filter on our bore. We're trialling in on some fruit and veg and so far, theyre alive and green . Just starting to gather what we need to put the bore water into some parts of the house too. Everything takes time and money and moves slowly here but we are definitely reaching goals . You are so right about getting into obe project or repair and another is always waiting. Id still choose this lifestyle every time though. I hope you and your family are well . Thank you for sharing you for a beautiful video ❤❤

Thanks for sharing. My standing desk should arrive soon. I bought unfinished so I will paint and seal it. I'm not doing much right now. Already purged what I don't use. All my things stay organized. I regularly clean them as well. Mostly been doing my hobbies.

i live in Qld, where heat and humidity is a challenge, especially with food storage. I rent, and the western side of my cottage is hot hot HOT in the summer, plus the two western facing walls of my bessar brick shed. So, with the help of a friend i ordered insulation panels to line both internal walls of the cottage and the shed. What a difference it makes! Its still a work in progress, but i dont feel so concerned about food spoiling now

Thanks for sharing! I am a huge advocate of do what you can, where you are and your post is the perfect example of this. I am well aware (as I much of my family is up there) of the FNQLD humidity difficulties and it is no small challenge. 💕

We’ve got the garden mostly under control, still lots of projects like a bigger compost bay and fence to build, but the next big task for me is to sort our bedroom. It’s become a storage closet instead of a bed room, and that ruins the energy of the room, so that’s my goal this week!

Wow, so much rain. I've just built a greenhouse in my suburban backyard. My tomatoes are struggling, but hopefully, some calcium will help. The birds are killing my berry patch. But the new elderberries are in bloom. Soon, it will be time to cover them so the birds can't get to the berries.

What I would give for some of thar rain up here in Brisbane, so dry. My spring project is jackhammering and digging out a 10m by 1m eight year old clump of bamboo, what an undertaking! The roots travel too far for my 1/2 acre block and steal water from fruit trees.

We're preparing for winter here in Norway 😀 Do you have problems with snails in your vegetable garden? Do you have any suggestions to deal with snails? ❤
