@@KuraiHasha-dv4bb Jan 2024-present is a much bigger sample size, both teams still have mostly same squad. its been 4 games, and Arsenal has had 2 tough away fixtures in that time, and the rubbish red card at the Brighton game significantly impacts the numbers, because pretty much of Brighton's chances came after that card. But if you take larger sample size, an individual event like that doesn't impact much.

Yeah it doesn't tell you how well they played (neither does overall possession), nor who should have won, just how likely a particular chance was to result in a goal. You put Haaland through he scores 9/10 give Gabriel Jesus the same exact chances and he might put away 5/10. XG would suggest they should give you the same return but it completely ignores the most important part of the equation which is the players involved. What can Unai Emery take from the Duran winner against Everton? What analysis can be applied to that? What do you think the XG on a player picking the ball up there was V the XG on the chance Watkins had against Arsenal when he missed a sitter from ten yards out. He didn’t even hit the target under no pressure, so on flip side what can Emery do with that information? Nothing

Possession stats, passing stats, passing accuracy stats, touches etc none of them give you a shred of context. They don’t tell you if it was the right pass, they don’t tell you if the pass put the receiver under was under pressure and it was turned over. Because technically a pass can be completed if it gets from A to B what happens 2 seconds after is part of another equation. Its ridiculous and it’s meant that in the last decade bang average players have stolen a living in football because analysts look at spreadsheets more than actual football.
