How to clean up a gallon of paint that spilled in a car and dried, brand new never opened can. Home depot's switch to plastic paint can lids causes huge spill!
“Rapid tac rapid remover” makes it nearly effortless. It will even remove dried spray paint in seconds without damaging carpet or seats and it doesn’t matter if paint is cured
First, lol, way to go. I've got the same problem today and using Klean-Strip Green from home depo. It's a paint remover/stripper that's natural and has no methylene chloride, nor NMP formula. Doesn't hurt the carpet because it's natural. You can even wash paint off your hands etc because it is natural.
Great JOB! I am so happy for you. My so put white paint gallon on the car seat which is black. Even tho the gallon was in two plastic garbage bags, it still leaked out of two bags and stain the car seat. Since I have arthritis, I have already lost my strength and courage of removing paint after seeing this video. Its too much work. I thought I would just scrap the paint and vacuum it and it will be ok. 😞
Didn’t take the time to read the comments but there are adhesives and fibers that match factory carpets you might be able to use to cover the fibers if they are still there.
Oh an the detail shop told me if that ever happened again make sure after you clean as much as possible to keep a wet rag or towel on it until you can get a detail shop to clean it ,if I had a cheap shop vacuum I would have used that it would have helped pull it out.
Clicked on here because I obviously got paint on the carpet in my truck. After seeing this I realized I have a spot of paint on the carpet and can live with it. It's about the size of a 50cent coin.
I have this issue currently lol. But she tried to hose it off and paint splatter on front dash and door. Besides the steamer what would help for dash on passenger and door panels
I think this happens alot more then we think because ot happened to me to same paint can to an same spot ,I posted my video an it was bad an I did a video of afterwards. now waiting on detailing company to get the rest out as much as possible anyway.
@@baine5.7 I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee - fortunately my car mat and trim absorbed 95% of the paint - I failed to close the lid this was my bad - it will look okay at the end of the day I may not even try to save the car mat
Oh wow what a mess, but ultimately you get the job done! One question what did u use to remove paint out of the exterior car , my wife was driving and a bucket of paint fell off a truck, now the hood and headlights are covered in white paint, Thanks
I used paint thinner. Make sure it’s paint thinner and not paint stripper. Then slowly go at the paint and it should come off. Make sure to wash the car with car shampoo to remove the chemical after
A 5 litre can of masonry paint has fallen over sometime tonight and I cant clean it up as I dont like the smell of paint, it's in the downstairs boiler room ! Its midnight now and hes coming st 930am to clean it all up! I was worried about fumes and flamability, so he said to cover it with thick towels and close the door to the room which I have done.its a downstairs room, and I am sleeping upstairs. Hope it's safe till then and any ideas what he can use in the morning? The room has a stone floor
Hi Nathan, thanks my friend got it all up this morning it took him an hour, the black paint had spilled aswell! I think he used lots of soapy water and rags,I didn't get too close! It really smelt but he couldn't smell it!? He said he was glad it wasnt gloss as otherwise the lino wouldve had to come up and be cut away! All the paints have now hot their lids securely pushed on and they're all in a large washing up bowl square so if anything were to leak again it would be within the large square bowl! He was calm about it,it looked like a real nightmare! Thanks for answering and I hope yours is all sorted?
That sucks, I had a 5 gallon but i got at work (lowes) on clearance and i had it sitting in the garage on the foot area of my 4 wheeler. Apparently it has a lip somewhere and ended up getting punctured. I have a out 4 of the 5 gallons of paint on my garage floor pooled up. Im using zep absorbing powder but theres a shit load of paint. I imagine that carpets gonna be a bitch to clean. Ive had customers who've purchased paint at my store and spilled it in the vehicle and I feel for them
So.....$600 later....toomuch elbow grease and hours of pain in the ass plus wherever you expend extra on car plastic parts that wont clean up....and all wont came off....🤔...is cheaper if you buy a floor carpet new on ebay and install....know is less work and cheaper for sure
Yes agree on the better, not sure about less work though. Some cars you have to take out the whole dash, seats, center console to get the carpet out. Depends on how it's cut. Carpet can be expensive also. But that's definitely the right way to do it
My god man I watched the rest of the video, what a fking nighmare, hey you did a pretty good job, id be happy with the result. All it takes is a split second to make something a multiple hour cleanup.
omg about eleven to twelve years ago my dude bought black paint little quart so we were in a condo he was going to paint an old oak cofee table mostly glass but the wood you know black he never did we moved i kept saying are you going nah i decided nah no black lol so i thought give it away take it to work no no .. um i pet it way in the back of a cliset in 2016 or so a heavy box was later placed of dishes decorated for wall s we cant move like seventybpounds in 2018 so um i dont know what but it fell out the cupboard on the other side shelf on to new carpet omg omg slatered omg omg
Dude this literally just happened to me today in my passenger side of my tundra, at home depot because they didn't put the lid on right but mine was worse,I contacted them an filed a claim an also did with my car insurance so they couldn't get away with it ,mine is bad I tried to clean it myself but couldn't.
@@extrabolts my car insurance is either covering whole carpet replacement an weather strips,or professional detailing to get it out an rubber seal replacements, an home depot did let me file a claim but only because they mixed the paint ,if it would have been a regular can off the shelf they wouldn't have ,so what I'm doing is having my car insurance fix it an they said they're going to go after home depot for the cost .I posted a video of mine the day it happened if you want to see it .
@@extrabolts I got people saying I'm idiot for putting the paint in front floor an not the bed of the truck ,but who puts a gallon of paint in huge empty truck bed to bounce around, the chance of it breaking open is 100% more because of that , I think the average person painting there own living room or something just puts it in the floor board an believes that the top is on right an there shouldn't be an issue if it does fall over . And I just posted a video of how mine looks after I was done cleaning as much as could, now I've got a detailing shop saying it's not that bad an they can get it out .
@@extrabolts Update on my home depot claim they actually called me today they kept saying sorry because it's been 22 days since the claim an are over nighting a check to me to fix it an said if anything else needs fixed or replaced call an they'll send another check im very surprised an happy there being civil about the situation.
