Hi Rio, I still like A. Lange & Söhne watches, but my adore for the brand has diminished somewhat after the Richemont purchase. They seemed to have lost their edge in some of the more exciting and interesting features with a renewed focus on marketing and sale. The Terraluna is a beautiful watch, but I'd choose an H. Hi Ced, there are certain 'luxury' good brand like Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermès that watch collectors distrust. However, it looks like the H08 sold out except for the metal band model; so, it looks like they hit the sweet spot. Take care and be safe, Bill😷

Hi Andres. The Carré H re-introduced with the H1912 movement looks to be a nice watch. The movement by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier may or may not be one of the VMF models like the H1950 is the Vaucher VMF 5401( H,M,S6H). The French designer Marc Berthier is the one you're referring to I believe. Take care, Bill

It's hard to tell where Cartier is anymore, and Bvlgari squandered its association with Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta-a wiser association would have resulted in some DR movements for Bvlgari and more GG designs; but your are right, Cartier is getting movements from ValFleurier (rather than ETA or Sellita .... more recently the latter) but Carole Forestier- Kasapi's influence seems to have waned ... Cartier going for a SolarBeat photovoltaic movement (sounds like a quartz regulator on the other end.) In a recent NY Times article, two Cartier watch sellers pointed out (and probably rightly so) that Cartier customers really don't care about the movement; their focus is on design. Further, Cartier is re-issuing the 'Tank Must,' -to my mind and others who know the history of the 'Must de Cartier' those watches were cheap versions of some of the Cartier classics ... most notably the Tank. With Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels in the Richemont stable, they represent the top luxury jewelry companies of all of Richemont's holdings. My hope is that VC&A remains their elite jewelry-watch arm with movements by Agenhor and Christiaan Van Der Klaauw, while Cartier sticks with ValFleurier .... because I don't think Forestier-Kasapi is still at Cartier ... or at least exerting any influence in horology for them. Hi Greg! What's the best location to start looking for watches in Las Vegas? They have some of the best watch-shopping in the U.S., I'm told! My old flying partner retired to Las Vegas; we used to fly from San Diego to Bull Head City, Az, take the water taxi across the river to Laughlin ... and lose our money there! PC, I think we were led astray by equating "in-house" with "quality." I'd rather have an Agenhor movement in a watch more than just about any other, even though it would not be "in-house." They are hand-made and very high quality...and expensive! VMF (Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier) make the watches for Parmigiani Fleurier and a host of other brands, but they too are made to very high standards and I'd stand them against anything coming out of most other watch companies... advertised as 'in-house.' I would agree that even though Hermès owns 25% of VMF, it's disingenuous to call them "in-house" ... why not indicate that they use a VMF movements? They're not Parmigiani nor Hermès- VMF is owned by the Sandoz Family Foundation. Our only hope is to know exactly what we're getting is to learn as much as we can about the watch and its movement-not just whether it's "in-house" or not. Take care, Bill

Indeed they are Howard, beginning in 2006, when Hermès invested $26 million, to acquire a 25 percent stake in Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Also, Hermès has partnered with Agenhor as well for specialized modules for watches such as the Le Temps Suspendu using the AGH 4111.... which by the way would be a cool watch for you. Don't worry about servicing so much, ApBoy. If a watchmaker is smart, they'll expand their range beyond ETA. Isn't being a 'watchmaker' supposed to be more skillful than a single brand? Besides, for the really high-end watches, you'd want to send them to the manufacturer, anyway. Mechanical watches have barrels, gear trains, escapements, and balances. Not rocket science when there's differences. Also, a watchmaker could probably take a course from Vaucher to support a wide range of watches. Take care and be safe, Bill 😷
