In recent research, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation has shown how the brain controls muscle movement to prevent unwanted movements in surrounding muscles. For example, when a person moves a finger, a part of the brain called the cortex prevents unwanted movements in other fingers by a process called cortical inhibition. In this lesson we free up pathways of the shoulder by reaching deep into neural pathways and stop the habitual inhibition.

OMG Alfons you just keep coming up with miracles! My left shoulder is better aligned and waaaay more comfortable. I look rather uneven now so I'm off to do my right shoulder. Brilliant lesson and I love the graphics in this video. Thanks for your much appreciated hard work. I'm proud to be a patron ♡

I did this lesson out of curiosity and was happy to find results where my whole upper left quadrant of my body felt vastly different than before. That being said, the journey to get here was remarkable! I really enjoyed the sweetness of the many sensations during the explorations. Will do the other side.Thank you, again, Alfons!

Alfons, I loved the imagining of moving the left hip joint and knee, etc., only in my mind. It worked in that my body prepared itself inside as if to do it in actual movement! This is phenomenal. Now I understand what it means to "practice a play or strategy in the mind over and over as the athletes do" evidently. Thank you so much. I feel that in addition to better body coordination, I am accessing my imagination!! Blessings to you, Jeannette

Alucinante!

Thank you Alfons - that was the best lesson yet. I have terrible trouble with my shoulders, esp the right one, I get headaches from the tension there. I think if I do a lot of these movements it will improve a lot. BTW - 'right' is also 'correct' because in the past being right handed was the correct way, and being left handed was wrong. Left handed children used to be taught to write with their right hand. Right is right and left is wrong!

I liked that lesson, how my shoulder felt- smooth, soft and with a huge range of motion. Although- visually, unlike in a different shoulder lesson I did these days, they looked even in the mirror, but lying on my backe, it felt as if I was lying on a big wedge which was propping up my right shoulder for, perhaps lets say 15° (I checked in my triangle ruler 😋) and the range of motion in lying has about doubled, in standing it didn't feel that free. (unvelievable how many people seemed spontaniously healed with one session, my skeletton always pops back to it's habitual way of limited movement)

Good morning Alfons, Two questions if you don't mind. I have a left torn rotator cuff (I am a lefty) and waiting for surgery which has been delayed to covid since March. I know in physical therapy you should do both sides for balance and symmetry. Is it o.k to do just one side? I did start the practice, feels good to right shoulder but I stopped. Thank you, stay safe and well. Thank you for this offering 😊

@ImprovingAbility
@ImprovingAbility 4 года назад
Hi, in my introductory series “Getting better day by day” a flexion/extension cycle is introduced gently. It’s spread over the whole self, and is the basis for what you’re looking for. After that any extension lesson will do that for you, of which I have a few online. There’s also (for example) two specialised series called “scout” and “heels under pelvis”, for which I have not done videos yet. I hope with the help of my patrons I will get there soon though! :) Best regards, Alfons

Hello- I tend to recruit my neck in anything chest or shoulder related leaving it fatigued. I was feeling the automatic incorporation even when i was just imagining the movement. Is there a "distracting" movement or position that would cause me to not be able to add tension in my neck when just doing shoulder movements? Thanks! I was experimenting with pushing my chin down- but not sure if that's helpful overall.

Thank you Alfons. Your videos are great. I live in Cancún Mexico. I am 69 years old and trying not to get COVID . But I have a problem of numbness and ticketing in my right index finger and middle-finger. Also in my right forearm. This happens especially when mis arms are hanging or bend forward. My neck, shoulders and back is very tense. What exercises should I do first? All of them help, but where should I begin??

Imagine that originally these lessons were taught audio only. Imagine your back side. Fill in the blanks. You could also record yourself while doing this lesson, and watch yourself on video, which I find super interesting. If you can‘t imagine what possible could be happening on the back side then do some other lessons, and come back to this one at a later time (like 6 months, or even a few years later). I‘m sure you will find it self-explanatory by then! Keep rolling!! 😁👍🙏
