I've had lots of folk ask abut the way to build geodesic tunnels so in this video I give a quick overview of the process. I'll do a more detailed one later and if anyone wants cheat sheets or has questions just let me know in the comments. Thanks for watching

I would definitely be interested in a cheat sheet for the more complicated version you showed.

Seconded! Given the better strength profile, that would be of real interest - besides, it gives a more interesting, pleasing shape! Mathematically, this should be a relatively simple Calc - some sort of “ready reckoner” on your website would be awesome!

So glad to see you posting Paul! I do plan to build Geodesic tunnels mostly connected to geodesic domes. I am still trying to wrap my brain around the geometry. You do an amazing job of explaining it simply, I am just a hard headed learner. Ha ha I too would love a cheat sheet!!, of the tunnels or any other structure. FYI - I sent an email to the Admin address back in July and just responded again to bring it back to the top of what I am sure is a very full in box. The subject line is Hello from Texas! If you get a chance, I would love to hear your feedback. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and blessings be to you and your family.

Definitely up for the cheat sheet for the more complex one ! I want to use this as a roof structure for a workshop in Northern Ontario. Need the headroom and snow load capability without large rafters and pitch required in a conventional roof. Nominal dimensions of 3 meters by 6 meters with a 1.5 meter knee wall. Thanks for the great videos !

Thank you Paul. Cheat sheets are always useful and for me necessary! Any comments on using WangerFlanges?

Yet another wonderfully helpful video Paul, thank you! This just gets me more excited about investing in a bunch of your Wanger Flanges in order to build some of the awesome structures you teach us how to make. =]

I like the alternative one. Having built something like it in paper as you suggest, I can imagine building that with hinges (or rubber strip) and having a tunnel that could be collapsed to any length.

Hola Paul! Muchas gracias por tu ayuda! Can you do a cheat sheet for a 14 sided tunnel that spans 60ftx 24ft? I am trying to build a car port in the middle of a Jetstream in Texas.

I would like to cover my driveway with just such a tunnel so that within my sub-arctic region I live I would then never have to snow blow my driveway again

In sketchup it's easy enough to mark this out for pole struts, but how do you pull out and extrapolate the timber frame angles? I've tried that a few times with geodesic domes but the angle reference points are always bouncing all over the place and it's so frustrating I usually end up giving up in the end.

Perfect for a greenhouse i have been planning. Cheat sheets still on offer?

How about doing the struts like this and simply cover with a sheet? Or even with lengths of polycarbonate channel greenhouse material? Perhaps even bent in a curve and attached to the struts where they touch? Taped together. If horizontal, with thin straight strips outside over the edges of the sheets, screwed into the struts inside, providing a joint . Or even have the horizontal sheets overlap as tiles?

I think you could do that by stitching on loops better than tunnels, and you could use 3d printed parts for holding pole to pole where they cross. Or even zip ties. But where are you getting 20 and 30 foot poles from? I've looked before for a different purpose but poles are damned expensive retail even in 8foot lengths.

Sir I would be very grateful if you send the 6v frameless dome plan with measurements

Cheat sheet would be great. Anyone know what program that is? Cheers

I'd be interested in cheat sheet for both designs. I'm looking at building a structure like this for a work area to build a geodesic dome! I will build the tunnel design with a flat side to fit beside a wall. I use a free version of Sketchup in design work I do (non professional) and am considering upgrading from watching your videos. Thanks.
