Geodesic Dome Greenhouse made from Trash

You're a real hybrid. Part designer, part artist. These would also make great solar powered light domes and would look terrific in clumps in a large garden at night.

It's so satisfying when it starts coming together, right!? We built a 15' diameter one a few years back using emt conduit and a several-tonne press to flatten an bend all the ends. It served as a tea temple at Arise festival for 3 years.

Brilliant. I've made geodesic domes, I've made greenhouses, I've tried to upcycle metal pallet straps, but I never came up with this idea. It's so obvious it's genius. I feel like I've just seen the wheel for the first time.

I love this project. Buckminster Fuller is credited with popularizing geodesic domes (and the name), although he did not build the first one. When I was a young boy, Fuller came to give a lecture in Dallas. I remember playing on the large geodesic dome that was set up in his honor.

Terrific presentation and reuse of common materials. If you were to build another dome would you skip the rivets and just use nuts, washers and bolts? On exceptionally cold nights you can light a candle and place it in the middle to gently warm the air. Wishing you and your team a great week.

What a piece of work!!! But you should prepare some more glass as means to close the open parts. Otherwise your greenhouse wont keep heat overnight when it cools down in a few weeks.

A pleasure to watch - as always. I am just wondering if the hotglue is a durable solution regarding heat and UV-light. Since you have already been using different bonding solutions in other videos I am really curious why you chose it for this project.

Is that special high-temp hot glue? I have had projects come apart in hot sun when the glue re-melts. How about making a chest-high stand, then cutting out a larger hold in the center so you can stand inside the dome and tend to your plants? Fun project - I never would have thought metal strapping could become rigid enough for this kind of application. Love it Laura!

The 3 strut lengths wouldnt produce a flat base dome but you solved it by adding the kneewall..nice job. The only thing i`d do differently is put the bolts in from the outside (the exposed threads could be a potential hazard for kids etc) and use a rubber washer between the glass and the steel washer to allow for the metal expansion/contraction in very cold or very hot weather.
