I love that George has an outfit that he ALWAYS wears. Tucked in flannel shirt, blue jeans with a brown belt, and white trainers. He's like a cartoon character. I admire the consistency.
George can walk through public spaces & go relatively unnoticed despite being one of most famous people on the planet. Whereas most other celebrities can’t even walk down the street. George doesn’t seem to have that problem.
He gave no fucks for that dude, I think the 200 bucks is more of a deterrent for him not to be bothered for too long, rather than him monetizing his time willingly
@@mawile3037 Dude made a billion dollars selling Star Wars to Disney. Of course it's a deterrent. How petty would you have to be to charge 200$ a signature just to make extra money as a side hustle. Of course, Lucas is also the person that made Greedo shoot first, so...
Man, thank you for the comment. I thought this myself, the in way which the actor (Hayden C.) for Anakin has this confused tone and face when speaking about “absolutes”
And he was so right too. Anakin is determined to be pleased but is confused about the trajectory of his destiny that his overwhelming passion for the people that he loves ends up destroying him and considering the dialogue that Hayden had to say in order to convey that frustration I have to say that I think that he did a REALLY GOOD job!
“I can’t make movies” “Yes you can! I’m just like you!” You can tell he really struggled while making the franchise by the actual anger and offense he had in his response.
@@cabbagealley5489 it was in the special features of the star wars dvd box set of the original trilogy. It might be on RU-vid or on a streaming platform as well. Definitely worth watching if you want a lot of behind the scenes info
I think the guy brings up Mara Jade as a character Lucas created and Lucas "gets furious" and kicks him out since he didn't invent her. It was a joke video. Seth Green is there in the room with him. Lol
1:24 *the* moment Also, the thing I love about George is how he doesn’t care a whole lot for maturity or professionalism as long as the job gets done. And he doesn’t talk to people celebrity to person, he talks to people person to person.
It's like losing half of everything in the divorce and losing your kids only for them to grow up and they introduce you to their kids. Meet your Grandpa George baby Yoda.
@The Preacher and you know what I hate the most? Some fans picturing him as a terrible person, every time I see George I see a simple humble guy during interviews. Yes he make mistakes he is a human after all but I don't care he's a genius who created something I really care about.
He probably thought it would. Remember this would have been 97/98, the first film George had directed since the original in 77. It was a big deal & the hype was insane. It wasn't until 99 that people realised.
"Sure you can. I started out just like you. I had nothing when I started." That is some encouraging words. I want to a writer, all I've got is a phone and a computer. Maybe someday I can make something half as good as starwars.
Get bummed loser, you'll never be as successful, its not the lack of talent that prevents you, its the change in the world, we are overwhelmed with stories, people making fiction every single day ..... you'll never shine
@@user-hz8tw6ge2m I mean, I dont think so. I think the original trilogy and the prequels had quite the compelling and interesting story, but hey man to each their own, not everyone can like starwars. :) What about it did you find creatively bankrupt by the way?
It really pains me knowing that a guy like him probably went through so much misery over movies. I wonder how much enthusiastic output from him we lost.
@@4477superman He didn't deserve it, he created an iconic franchise in Star Wars and towards the end some of the fans didn't appreciate him and he got alot of criticism. He ended up passing the torch on, but Disney has made things worse in certain areas
@@4477superman chill child. It’s his creation. Not yours. He can do whatever he wanted. You don’t have the power or right. So humble yourself and stop calling someone an a hole because he did something with HIS PROPERTY! 🤣
1:43 might just be my favorite moment outta the whole video, he’s talking to Hayden with such respect and care for something as trivial as whether or not he wants to do a rolling stunt
Even though he’s refused to let the original theatrical versions of the original trilogy be preserved? He’s an asshole. He deserves every bit of flack he gets.
@@4477superman they’re his movies, he can do whatever he wants with them. If you want the originals so bad, they’re easy to get on Blu-ray. There’s lots of fan made versions that are just as good as anything he could ever release, so stop whining.
If you ever wanna feel powerful work security for George Lucas at a star wars convention. Seriously ppl treated him as a god. He honestly was nice and cool.
I've never gotten that "arrogant Hollywood douchebag" vibe from Lucas, that so many other people in that industry give off. He seems humble and sensible, for a guy that basically single handedly took on the Hollywood studio system and won on his own terms. Nevermind his questionable film making decisions, he deserves a lot of respect for keeping his dignity after all the crazy milestones he's achieved.
@@Deuteromis He deserves every bit he got. Don’t forget, he flat out refused to let the original theatrical cut of Star Wars to be preserved for history. He’s an asshole
2:04 “The biggest trap that people fall into with these kinds of movies is they go too far” Disney really should have seen this before the whole Palpatine thing…
I don't believe for a second George was in it to make a fortune and make millions for the sake of sheer greed. The way he talks about the movies with such passion, and explaining his vision, I think he was just a devoted storyteller who wanted to tell his story for people to just enjoy and love. I definitely wouldn't say the same about Disney, at all
The guy was verbalizing his failure even before atempting to take action. He's saying he can't make movies, but he can! All he needs is a camera, an idea and some basic knowledge of the craft. He may not produce a good film, but he will produce a film and gain experience and grow from there. This guy has no excuse.
My favourite behind-the-scenes moments will always be when George is announcing or explaining something to people who work for him and you can see them really doing their best to appear respectful and interested. It's glorious.
I don't think everyone hated it, it never crossed my mind that some people had an issue with the portrayal until youtube comments came around. Everyone I know including myself has always liked the character/portrayal without question. I think it's a vocal minority that may have expanded with the internet due to the "bandwagon of cynicism" that many immature people fall into
I remember that wonderful May of 2005. There was a peculiar atmosphere of excitement because of the premiere, as at that time everyone knew this was the final episode of the Saga. One that would tie the era of the Republic with the era of the Empire, the 2000s with the 1980s. Despite - or perhaps because - I was a boy then, the film itself was an experience without equal in my life. And to this day, despite knowing of the weaker aspects of the movie, "Revenge of the Sith" is my favorite of the six episodes and actually the most favorite film of my life: the story, the characters, the music, the worldbuilding, the sound effects of everything from igniting of a lightsaber to the pressurizing of Vader's helmet - and just the mythical scale of events... Thank You, George Lucas.
@@nilsteegen33 Yeah, the prequels had more practical effects than the OT (Also had CGI,) and why I love the story of the prequels they aren't as good as the OT film wise.
@@ZootWorld1 digital effects arent bad. The reason cgi looks bad these days is that companies like disney rush and overwork their cgi artists. With time even digital effects look great
Lucas' work didnt changed the life for anyone. He just created a fictive universe and not a medicine for aids. Geesh, I love star wars but you guys are incredibly annoying with your exaggerating about everything
@@ahabduennschitz7670 dude relax... be possitive. George deserved better. He seems very chill and just looking to tell his story like all of us just that his ideas and team are better and worth millions 😭🌟
I don't know why, but every few months I have to get my George Lucas fix. Watch a bunch of interviews or just random clips. Always makes me feel good. Listening to him or just watch him do his stuff will always be a huge inspiration. Thank you, George! :) Greetings from Germany
@@LostAndFound033 People are scared of genuine creators in Hollywood. He didn't always have the best ideas, but he certainly did his own thing. Now look at the state of the IP. It's a mess.
George Lucas is one of the good ones. It's a shame a lot of people don''t like the prequels, people my age LOVE them. He's truly an inspiration to aspiring creatives, and if I end up like George I will be a happy man.
I just saw the prequels for the first time (although I did see the phantom menace in the theater a million years ago) and I gotta say, the storytelling is really rough in those movies. I had a hard time following what the hell was going on for a great deal of the prequels
Happy Birthday George Lucas. I love all Star Wars movies. Rogue One, Solo, Episode 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, The Force Unleashed 1 and 2. is awesome. Kids love the action. Not violence.
