If you want a western or a more thriller-horror reccomendation I'd go with for the Western (Unforgiven) & the Skeleton Key for the thriller with a dash of horror.
I find it so hilarious the range of movies that come from Stephen King novels. 2 or 3 movies from his books are some of the best movies that have ever been made in film history. The shawshank redemption, the green mile, Stand by me, the Shining. They are all so phenomenal it makes you wonder how on Earth somebody could ever come up with such a good story. Then you have the B rated awful adaptations that are nothing but horror flicks. They always butcher the storyline which is the only thing that makes Stephen King stand head and shoulders above everybody else the dude knows how to tell a story.
Stephen King has a beautiful mind. Amidst all the horror in his stories is humanity and spirituality. He is amazing. This movie is wonderful. Great reaction. Thanks.
@Highway Unicorn yup. I have a compendium of his early works when he still went by Bachman. Stuff like Rose Madder, The Long Walk, Gerald's Game and others.
John Coffey is pretty much Jesus Christ reborn (they even share the same initials). Both make miracles, and both suffered and died for other people's sins, hated by everyone but their apostles. Such a powerful movie and your reaction, as usual, didn't disappoint!
Also, both of them die along with other two criminals, one who repented for his crimes (Delacroix) and another one who didn't (Wharton). Paul is most probably Pontius Pilate, since he reluctantly excecutes Coffey like Pilate did with Jesus.
@@magallanesagustin4952 I always thought that Paul was representing Longinus, the Roman guard who stabbed Jesus with his spear. He, supposedly, was cursed to walk the Earth until the end times for his sins. Just like Paul describes his curse at the end.
"Sometimes, the Green Mile seems so long." That is the perfect line for the ending. Makes me tear up every time. You're absolutely right. The Green Mile is not a movie. It's an experience.
You're quickly jumping up the ranks of my favorite reactors. Love your analysis and not being afraid to show emotions. That's why we're here. To see your genuine/real reaction. I don't post much, but just wanted to say keep it going, bro!!
You shouldn't be sorry for being angry, it's was horrible what Wild Bill did to those children. Anger at someone that hurts children is justified. It just shows you're a good man. And you just got another subscriber.
@Tash Luo My mom tells me of a similar experience..She tells me of it as if it happened yesterday but, She told me how she left her abusive bf at the time taking my two oldest brothers and how she tried to find shelter with her two oldest sisters but as bad luck would have it, one of her sisters made one of my older brothers cry and told her to leave because "they couldn't have that" or some crap like that, but mom said she just picked up my two older bros 1 and 3 at the time and started walking the streets sad and crying, she said all she had was a diaper bag and 1 set of clothes for each but she cried walking the streets not knowing what to do when..she came across this lady who hugged her and told her everything was going to be fine and told her of a shelter that would take her and my bros in around the corner and my mom said and I kid you not, that she only took maybe 5 steps and turned to thank the woman but she wasn't there and she was by a wall that stretched along side them that was more than a block long and high too...so who was she? and where did she go? Idk but all I know is my mom said that was her angel for she gave her hope and comfort when she had none... but that was the first step to what my mom has now and no one deserves to have something as simple as a house and car as she does! I just thank god in her old age she has both and she would not hesitate to take in those who don't have much either and believe me she has that's why their are ppl out there other than me that call her mom. I thank god everyday for her smiles and warm heart despite the horrible she went through! anyways I think that's pretty awesome you had a similar experience maybe the truly blessed at heart get to such an encounter such miracles but I wont stop believing I think even though I may not see them I still experience them as I currently am a mother to my child who already outlived her life expectancy but either way I will be forever eternally grateful! and I wish you and everyone who reads this the absolute best! ☺✌ edit: I am 35 now she said she was in her early 20's at the time before there was Internet and such info was at your fingertips. etc..
@Tash Luo I can't say I know what's that's like as I haven't gone through your life experiences but you seem like a strong person and all I can say is keep on keeping on even when it gets hard...but I think if you can keep on achieving your dreams despite these roadblocks in your life this makes you a strong person indeed and I wish you the absolute best! 💕💕💕💞❤💞
I'm not religious, either, but think about this: A man named Paul is telling the story of a miracle man with the initials JC. JC is an empath, a seer, a healer and a teacher, who gave so many on Earth the gift of love and LIFE and then suffers his own wrongful death for the sins of others, that he may live in Heaven for eternity. Sound familiar?
Let us not forget that the actor who played the disgusting Percy was absolutely successful in making us hate him with all our souls. He might pass overlooked because we hate his character, but his acting was perfection
Coffey wanting it to end makes all the more sense because in the book there are several portions contained within that hint to John having already been alive for 100s of years. 100s of years of feeling the pain of the world, taken from his homeland to be enslaved and living through all of that.
I need to reread the book again, then. I remember hints that his origins are mysterious, that he just sort of appeared out of nowhere (like an angel might); but nothing about his being around for that long...
This is actually based on a true story. George Stinney Jr. was the youngest person sentenced to death in the 20th century in the United States. He was only 14 when he was executed by electric chair. He was accused of killing 2 girls even though he was innocent. Stephen King was inspired by the case and he wrote green mile which was then adapted to film. The story breaks my heart because he was innocent and had nothing to do with their murders.
John Coffey was an empath, a healing Heyoke. He knew Paul was in pain when they first shook hands and looked into his eyes for the first time. He referred to the ugliness and hatred in the world like glass in his brain, and he just was ready to leave. Michael Clark Duncan was such a fine actor and so very missed. You are such a tender man, your review touched my heart.
This isn't more than a movie; this is an example of pinnacle filmmaking. This is what beautiful story telling, filmography, directing, acting, writing and everything else can come together to create. Films like The Green Mile, Schindler's List, Good Will Hunting, No Country For Old Men, Spirited Away, Forrest Gump, and so many more powerful movies create an experience that we keep with us, long after the film ends.
John Coffey is played by Michael Clark Duncan. He also plays in "Armageddon","The Whole Nine Yards","The Scorpion King", and "Daredevil"(movie, not tv show.) He has also passed away in 2012.
James Cromwell, the guy who played Hal, was actually taller that Duncan. Duncan was 1.96 meters and Cromwell is 2.01 meters. Still they made him look so huge even compared to Cromwell
4:17 Don't misunderstand this moment, young man. This moment you watched wasn't slavery; it's punishment. There was a form of punishment that prisons had during the time known as "chain gangs." Convicts were put to work digging ditches and plowing fields as a form of manual labor.
I was coming here to comment the same but reading through the comments to check if anyone else had said it first and I couldn't have put it better myself mine would have been a lot vaguer lol
I'm gonna have to disagree and disagree based on a few things. Forced labor is slavery for one. And for two if you are based in the US the constitution views it as sush as well if it didn't it wouldn't of been the loop hole written in the amendment that abolished slavery.
So.... still slavery, then, eh?! It is still happening even today, when they make prisoners clean ditches or work in the prison woodshop or do hospital laundry and pay them 38 cents an hour for commissary money. Legalized slavery.
I always lose it when Paul asks John what he should tell God upon his own judgement and again when he says "May God have mercy on your soul" but you KNOW he was thinking "May God have mercy on MY soul"... and when his voice quivers when he says "Roll on 2"... just gimme the whole damn box of kleenex already.
The beautiful soundtrack in this movie is composed by the brilliant Thomas Newman, my absolute favourite. His music always has a nostalgic otherworldly sound and I can't get enough of it.
This is one of those films that once you've seen it you can never ever forget it. I still cry sometimes even watching reaction videos to it. The film touches you deeply. It is a story by Stephen King
Possibly one of the best works in American cinema. I love seeing others from other countries experiencing it for the first time. Amazing reaction! Subbed for sure.
Since you reacted to Forrest Gump last week, did you notice that the scene where he visits Coffey's lawyer was a reunion of Forrest (Hanks) and Lt. Dan (Sinise)?
This is very sad story. But King was inspired by a really brutal true event that took place at that time. I'm talking about the execution of a little innocent boy.
John Coffey, was such a beautiful and tragic character. Someone that was misunderstood, but had a gift that he used to help people. But because people were fearful , bigoted, and just downright judgemental is why all this happened. This movie is so powerful even now.
I love your honest reaction!!! This movie is ageless!! The content is sadly still relevant!!! Always look forward to your reactions!!! Stay safe sweetheart!
Before I watch this, I'm gonna wager that Percy is the first person Dillon calls a wanker/tosser/bastard. Well, tosspot is pretty close. I'm calling that a win.
I cried so much that I had to wait a few minutes before leaving the theater. So many people can't believe it's a Stephen King book. As a child of the 80's I'd recommend the Karate Kid trilogy.
Dang it Dillion , I cried at this movie, and I cried again at the reaction. Being a guy, its not often, but Michael Clark Duncan and Tom Hanks , they can spill it out, and we cannot help the way we take it in. I hope you watched this again with the missus
Heartwarming fact: Sam Rockwell the actor who played Wild Bill is actually a really nice guy & the girls who played his characters victims actually had trouble being terrified of him
I watched this once when I was little, like 6 or 7, and all I could remember was the scene of him outside at 15:20 and the mouse getting stepped on and it traumatized me skskks I had no idea what was going on, I hated it lmao
From a Texan, it brings me joy to see one such as yourself moved by the deeper meanings in such creative works my heart is right there with you brother. If you enjoyed this movie as well as the Shawshank Redemption, you can thank the creative genius of Stephen King, for he wrote them both. However this doesn't take anything away from the creative expression of his genius by the movie makers involved.
What an amazing streak of movies you're putting out!! Everyday I see an upload and it's a movie I've been waiting for you to watch. Castaway please for future Tom Hanks movie :)
Can you react to Watership Down (1978) please, it’s so worth a watch and it’s an amazing story to follow from the beginning to the end of the film. Love the Tom Hanks Trilogy, Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile & Forest Gump are the Pinnacle of what film making is.
AWESOME Reaction!!!! there's a few movies that can make me fall apart... this was one of them and still does every time i watch it. I have been guilty of getting the feels from "saving private ryan" "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Schindler's List"... and many many more
Your timeline is a bit off. This takes place in the 1930s & slavery ended in 1865. What you saw was called a chain gang and they were prisoners working outside of the prison not slaves. 😁
I think you might be a bit confused at the beginning? This movie takes place in 1935, so those weren't slaves. Those were just prisoners doing labor. Slavery was abolished in the US in 1865, which was 70 years before this took place.
ComeOnIsSuchAJoy ...I can report that "Hell Comes To Frogtown" and the Sam Raimi Spiderman Trilogy is not on this channel. However I would love those drugs you're taking, because you must be high to make such an easily veritable/disprovable statement.
@@BigGator5 I meant he watched THIS movie before Christmas, whereas "Shawshank," "Schindler," SPR, etc. were more recent. And he's done at least the first Raimi "Spider-Man" flick; can't remember off hand if he's done the second one.
Beyond the mystical aspects of John Coffey's abilities, there was so much good in this movie to make any "invested" viewer enlightened about life and death. Honor, respect, belief, succor, helping fellow humans -- all beneficial to living a good life for one's self and for others.
You are , by far, my favorite movie reactor. I knew when I saw you were reacting to this movie it was gonna be an epic reaction. You did not disappoint. I've watched dozens of movie reactions and thus is hands down, my favorite. May wanna try a few older movies. There are some great ones...cool hand luke....one flew over the cuckois nest and the postman always rings twice are a few if my favorites. Thanks for making my day.
I watched this movie in bed next to my girlfriend sleeping, thinking I would fall asleep, then I'm crawling closer to the tv to hear every word and im in tears by the end. Next night we watched together and both In tears, this movie moved us so much
I just loved the movie the first time and watch it over and over again. I love the acting, the storyline, how the prisoner Waters have pity for John Coffey and some of the others. It‘s just amazing!
I know it’s a bit controversial but I honestly like this movie more than Shawshank. If you haven’t seen Se7en it’s another one of my favorites but also not exactly a happy movie
@@MrAitraining I don't know where you're getting the "pretentiousness" from given that this is based on the Stephen King book. You copying and pasting variations of this same comment doesn't make it fact by the way.
emotionally draining and so well done on so many levels from each actor and the story wish more people could learn a lesson from this film.. loved sharing your first time view and love the way you edit important points and your reactions and have no problem with you using the watermark for copy right and am grateful you use subtitles.. "wild Bill's" actor is great in Galaxy Quest
@@lynnhathaway3755 I waited to read the book because I like to have the mental picture of the characters. I’ve seen it so many times and I cry anyway. Michael Clarke Duncan WAS John Coffey! 🥲
I've watch a lot of reaction videos over the years but I have to hand it you. This was by far the best REACTION I have ever watched! I will now subscribe, and thank you from Florida USA! Peace and Cheers Mate!
There are certain movies that need watched more than once and this is one off them, everyone played their part well in the film, unfortunately it didn't get the recognition it deserved.
My first movie that made me cried, and I was 12. A bit young to watch this movie. Also Sam Rockwell as Wild Bill, one of my favorite performances of his. Also Sam Rockwell a VERY underrated actor.
I enjoyed watching your reactions, But your comments at the end about people with hate touched me the most tyvm to know their are people around the world like you with a heart
This movie was AMAZING. It really makes you feel. My mom read the book and said it broke her heart so much that she can’t bring herself to watch the movie. I can see why. 😭
Michael Clarke Duncan was the actor who played John Coffey. He was the rookie phenom of this ensemble-- this being his, I think, 2nd movie ever? He was less experienced than the others. They got him an acting coach who enabled him to tap into whatever it was inside of him that WAS the character. ...and... ...He passed away in 2012.
My top three movies have always been (in no particular order) Green Mile, Shawshank and Forrest Gump. I’d love to see you do Forrest Gump - most people completely misunderstand Jenny, and I have this theory you will actually understand her character. Forrest Gump and Shawshank were up for the same Oscar, and people fight about which one deserved it till this day! Followed your channel in my insomnia, loved your react vids, cheers mate!
Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise made another film together, Forest Gump, which is another movie you should watch. BTW, John Coffey died ... yes innocent, but tired ... and he wanted to be relieved of his powers. Actor who played John Coffey was Michael Clarke Duncan and he has since passed away. What an actor. Percy (played by Doug Hutchinson) was a great actor in this movie as he raised so much emotion from the viewer. Must take great acting to be hated so much.
When I first saw this......all I could think was that this was a "modern" day biblical story (and I'm not a particularly religious person that would immediately draw that comparison). There's no other way to compare it. .....and ALL from the brilliant mind of Stephen King (who also gave us "The Shawshank Redemption"). Great reaction, man! Love your content. Keep it up!
Yay! A new reactor for me to watch. The Green Mile is one of my favorite movies, and I scrolled through some of your other reactions. You just started reacting to TWD! You have a new subscriber!
Thank You. You are the first person to ever say It is a mouse, not a Rat. And people should know that. Mouse and Rat a 2 different species, if they want to be simple about it. Ok, this movie is one of the Greats. Thank you for sharing with us.
