We're trying something a little different this time around. Instead of playing, we thought we'd focus on a few players throughout the weekend at the Wisconsin State Backgammon Championships. Our hope is that you'll see the fun and attend a backgammon tournament near you; or that at the very least, you'll have some fun content and people to follow along with in the backgammon space. Either way, we hope you enjoy and we're eager to see you at the next one!
Special thanks to Jack Edelson the tournament organizer and director and to all the players who allowed us to check in on their tournament journey. You're all the best!

Just found your videos. I started playing backgammon about 12 months ago but only play against my son and daughter Oh and the computer. Loved yours videos. Both your wife and you come over really well and keep them coming. Please try and keep them simple. Your coverage of the doubling cube was really helpful. Think I’ll have to try my local backgammon club. Anyway many thanks Jim from England

Hi Jim! So glad you're enjoying the videos! My wife and I played for several months just her and I. Then I dove deeper and it's crazy cool how much is out there for backgammon. I'd definitely recommend checking out your local club! Great way to learn and grow in the game. Cheers!

I really like your videos a lot! The perspective of an intermediate is such a great addition to RU-vid. And your genuine enthusiasm for the game is very contagious! Showing us the tournament scene is also really captivating! I especially liked the conversations with other intermediates and sharing their experiences with us. Of course, the celebrities like Kit Woolsey are exciting too! :D Maybe you could make an instructional video one day, where you show us what your main lessons have been so far that really helped to improve your game. Keep up the great work! Cheers!

@blunderblots 11 месяцев назад
Hello! Thank you so much for the kind words! The videos are a lot of fun to make and I'm glad you enjoyed the inclusion of intermediate. Tournaments sure are a lot of fun to attend. 😁 Hopefully we can catch Kit at the next one. I definitely use his cube law a lot when playing. That's a great idea that I"ll look into more. But in a nutshell it's been a lot of reading, XG, and watching other better players. Chouette's have been really helpful too (although I've only played in two). Hearing better players talk and justify their moves is invaluable. Cheers!

Loved the video. I am into backgammon equipment and it was so cool to see a wide range of boards. Even seeing a 19 inch Silverman & Co board being used was really awesome. Goes to show you that you don't need a high price board to compete on. 🤘

@@blunderblots something to be said about BYOB. I loved watching the BGWC and UBC matches but you are stuck seeing the same FM Gammon board match after match. Which is OK but lacks variety.
@blunderblots
@blunderblots 11 месяцев назад
@@chriswalker810 Yeah, it's tough when it comes to stream boards. They're typically the same ones, that being said you're right. I think all the boards at worlds were FM boards. I haven't played on to many, but gotta love the clack of the wood. Do you have an FM? I can't remember. Cheers!
@chriswalker810
@chriswalker810 11 месяцев назад
@@blunderblots no I don't have an FM board. I do have a wooden board but I rarely play on it. It's super heavy and the surface is quite hard. It's like they laid the felt on the board without any padding. Anyways I would like to get an FM/Backgammon Galaxy board but the price is God awful. Sinking a grand or more for a board is not for me. Even though my FTH custom board was $800+. It was one of a kind due to the checkers and the whole board design and dimensions are one of a kind. I am willing to pay a few extra dollars for one of a kind and uniqueness. However cookie cutter boards I will stick with Silverman & Co or Wycliffe Brothers. I might eventually get an Earth Board if the deal is worth it.

Keep it up guys. I've been playing 25+ yrs but never been in a real tournament. Only play online and with my wife. Sadly the 2 BG clubs here in So. Cal are too far away for me to go to easily. Haven't commented in awhile sorry - another flippn' awesome video...like seriously I love this stuff. I'm addicted to watching backgammon tournaments on backgammon galaxy etc and you guys really caught the atmosphere of it all it seems like. I agree with the other comments I love the vlog style interviewing players etc. A suggestion for another video if you want to go down the rabbit hole - maybe something on chouettes? I have looked around a lot and can't seem to find good resources on how to even play one...or maybe I'm just not searching correctly 😅 Could you maybe do a basic tutorial on a chouette, how it works etc? Don't know if you have any footage from this tournament of the chouette you played in. Thanks guys and keep up the incredible work. God bless!

Hey JH! Good to hear from you! No worries, life gets busy. Thank you for the kind words! 😀 We're excited to keep content like this rolling. I couldn't agree more on the chouette. We had a hard time finding information online too. Thankfully, Michael and April Mesich were kind enough to sit down with us and show us the way. Chouette's are interesting because they can have small little differences in rules depending who you're playing with (house rules) but I'll see what we can come up with for a video on how to play one. They're a ton of fun though and an incredible way to learn too because you talk your moves out. We really appreciate the suggestion, it's a great one! Cheers! 😁

@@blunderblots P.S. do I see Phil Simborg in some of your video shots? If so that's awesome. He has a forthright New Englander demeanor when he does commentaries on matches sometimes but he cracks me up. I've been saving up for a while now for one of his P-40 boards ever since I got my Crisloid (love my Crisloid but I want a "modern" type set like the P-40 now). *Sigh* my love for luxury backgammon boards...what an expensive relationship 😮‍💨😄
