He’s a good goalie honestly when the team in front of him plays well. He’s proven that. He honestly hasn’t been the same after Kivlenieks died. I don’t think however he’s worth his contract as of now though.
To be honest, I recently went through this last NHL season's goalie stats and, to my initial surprise, many of quality well-established netminders "boasted" SV% numbers below 90% and GAA above 3.00. And I mean it really was a LOT of goaltenders! But then I realized that the amount of goals scored per game went (thankfully) up during the recent years, so this is basically the new 'normal'. Some people should wake up and finally notice that the year is not 2015 when top-notch forwards commonly registered "staggering" 60 points per season, only about 5 players in the entire league managed to achieve more than 1 point per game, and Jamie Benn won the Art Ross with "astronomical" 87 points. In today's NHL, 89.7 saves percentage is relatively 'OK' and especially on a team such as the Blue Jackets.
Eck is a woke liberal. It's becoming more clear as time goes by. Notice how Eck was the one roasting Elvis the goalie & the blue jackets. Typical scumbag liberal media move.
At least with PLD he's a skater, so if he sucks offensively he could still potentially help in other areas (not that he will). A goalie either stops the puck or doesn't
@@justjohnny420 I'd take the chance on Elvis over PLD, I'm obviously not in the room with the guys but besides his ridiculous salary it seems almost like he's toxic on top of it. He spent only four seasons with the Blue Jackets, barely three seasons in Winnepeg, one season in LA, now Washington. It's obviously just my opinion though.
It's harsh, but like are we supposed to bubble wrap the feelings of a guy making 6 million a year? I see it as Waddell challenging Elvis to be better, personally.
However, it's not exactly a fact. It's an opinion. He can't say with absolute certainty (fact) that the contract is in no way possible to move. That, is a fact.
i mean hes on the jackets so idk how much can truly be held against him but hes making igor shesterkins salary with nowhere near igor shesterkins numbers, thats nuts
Rangers also have a very overrated defense that is largely mediocre at best and has been exploited in two straight postseasons despite elite play from Shesterskin.
He needs to get some space from the organization, he lost a very close friend and spent most of his time being clowned on by just about everyone. “He’s a grown man making millions” yeah who watched his friend die trying to save his family. I don’t care how old or rich you are, that’s gonna stick with you forever.
Used to work for Nationwide Arena and CBJ from 2020-22 - i can confirm this is the worst ive seen them in a min (the memorabilia i got from there was cool tho) Great content bro🔥
If Merzļikins went to a completely different team, there's a very good chance he'd do well again. Not just because the Blue Jackets are bad (although they are), but sometimes it just doesn't work out 🤷♀ same goes for Samsonov, I bet wherever he goes next he does well.
People were talking about swapping Campbell for Merzlikins during the regular season too, but there's no way it ever happens. Edmonton has Pickard as a very solid option to resign and Olivier Rodrigue as a prospect who's ready to get some NHL games, they don't need another goalie who's okay at best. Their top priority has to be shedding as much of Campbell's cap hit as possible to make room for players next year.
Really hoping for the best for him. Its not easy going through what he did and I like your Jack Cambell trade idea but I doubt Edmenton is looking for another goalie rn. Maybe they could trade contracts and try rehabilitating him and flip him at the deadline
Good ol don. I’m a canes fan and I don’t know if I’m happy or disappointed about getting rid of him yet. He’s a good gm I think he’s just not super risky that’s why this years trade deadline was such a surprise. We’ll see what happens with the jackets they have some good young talent
I have a love/hate relationship with Elvis. I think he does great when he has a good defense in front of him 98% of the time. He does tend to be dramatic, which I understand. I personally would like to keep him and see if he can bounce back with the new manager and coach. However, I also think a change would do him good though.
Campbell rebounded well in the AHL, so if it was a trade with EDM, it would have to be close to 1-for-1. They would not add much in terms of assets unless Columbus is willing to retain salary.

I think someone will trade for that contract. Elvis can be a decent goalie behind a good defense and there are plenty of similar bad value contracts around the league to find a trade partner.
He’s not wrong, You might not want to hear that if you’re Elvis but it’s just the truth. Right away 5.4 was too much he was never really playing at that price and prob won’t ever play up to that price. But we’ve all seen weirder things happen, wouldn’t be surprised if Dubas goes after him😭
Brutal honesty is not really roasting a player. The contract, for the results, is a no go for most teams. PLD was traded so there is hope. I hope Elvis gets his mind together and gets back to being a #1 goalie.
I do agree he could come to Edmonton In exchange for Campbell and some assets, Probably Columbus can retail exactly or close to the contract of Campbell. I feel he can be great but he needs a new and fresh start, and since the Oilers just lost to the Panthers and need solid goaltending he would be a good fit. We also have a great locker room culture and also have great acquisitions of players after something happens like Kane and Perry.
There’s a reason (or rather, there are reasons) why the Candy Canes didn’t renegotiate with DW-40. Just as there are reasons why they renegotiated with RB’A. The Strait Jackets are going to remain just as much of a powerhouse as the never-rising-from-the-ashes Phoenix abomination that one may as well name the “Salt Flats”.
Well I’m no GM, but can’t you retain a bit of the contract. He has had good years before the team sucked this much. So there is good reason to believe he would put up better numbers in a team that is at least a playoff hopeful. If Columbus retained a bit and could convince another team that his numbers are mainly due to the team in front of him. It’s still gonna be hard to make it happen but it’s nowhere near impossible.

I think the only way out for Elvis and Waddell is for Elvis to play well. That's what Waddell said without saying it. Sure, that's hard to display on a team that is hot garbage, but other teams can probably discern general bad play by the team and goaltending. If Elvis shows some pluck, maybe a team will take a risk at the trade deadline.

If I were Elvis I'd just intentionally play like shit to start the season, work myself into the backup position, and eventually get bought out of my contract so I can retire a very rich man in my early 30s.
Fake fan. True Latvian hockey fans support him, dont listen to this idiot. Even if he had few bad seasons he is still NHL (highest) level goalie and he doesnt refuse playing for Team Latvia
First 3 years he played very well with Columbus, the last 2 years have been bad though. Merzlikins is a coinflip at this point, you can get him for cheap but its not guaranteed he will play good enough.
Kivleniks died protecting his family? From whom? From robbers? From KKK? From nazis? From whom? From fireworks? This constant hero searching is preposterous. The guy dipped bc of an accident which happens. People celebrate, get drunk, do stupid stuff. Now we have to pretend like he died some kind of hero as if he stormed Omaha with da boys on d-day. Pathetic
