@@brianclark3599 hey! I live in Durango and will be trying to pan a few spots this summer. Admittedly I’m a noob to prospecting so I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can. Let me know if you have any pointers/general areas you’d recommend! Cheers!
It is beautiful up there. The cool high altitude air is one thing I wish we had here in the Black Hills. If it is hot at home it will still be hot at most of our high elevations here. Happy prospecting.
Awesome m8, Heidi and I will be camping up by Leadville in a couple weeks 😁 Super excited to see cashe creek and the mountains. Be wild to see you out there. ❤⛏
Definitely a beautiful day, in a beautiful part of the river. I appreciate you giving those tips out earlier in the video.. I'm trying to learn how to pan for gold. Normally when I hit up a river I'm looking for all the other cool minerals. Can't wait to give it a try next time I'm out. I'm subbing.
Trick with gravel bars is two fold. First take a magnet, that helps narrow the line of concerntrated heavies. Second dig down until you hit a silt layer.
The “BestDamGoldPan” is a pretty good pan. For low water and you don’t have to classify it. Just remove huge rocks, but you can really shake it harder from side to side. Once you get it to cons, bring all the material back to the main pan and use the 2” corners to fine it down. Yes I still prefer ol’ Garret!
Thanks! Yeah I just did an outing in Florida about 2 weeks ago, and Indiana last month as well. Lots more traveling to find gold and other treasure as always!
@@Klesh ... Always an adventure I imagine. Think about doing a metal detecting group and that way you can take all your toys out at once! Saw your trips and look forward to hearing about more!!
I have been watching your videos for a few years and I finally got to pan for gold for the first time last week. We camped at cashe creek and froze our butts off at 35 degrees
We lived in semi-arid S.E. New Mexico for a few years. When temp were well over 100F, we would drive up to Ruidoso, N.M. at 9,000'+ and the temps were easily 20 degrees cooler. We did that a lot. Better luck on your next spot. Cheers!
You sure got that right, Bro. This weather....but it's not the heat, it's the dang humidity!! I'm in Upstate New York, and we've been dealing with temps in the mid/upper 90s this week and the heat index...making it feel like in area of 100*-105*. Humidity has been running 65%+. It's like breathing thru a wet sponge!! What makes it worse is, I had a pretty bad heart attack 4 yrs ago while shoveling snow so I have to be xtra careful. Anyway....bought myself a 14' rowboat and can now access some areas of our local river (which feeds Lake Ontario) that I haven't been able to before and sure as sh$#, 1st time out....had about 10 colors (small) in almost every one of the dozen or so pans I ran. I didn't care if it had none...just being on the river was like being in a cooler! Anyway..thanks for the video and see ya in the next one.
With placer pan you used couldn't you just keep the dam in it and set it in running water. The water would flow over the back and circulate which would in turn make the gold go to the bottom of the pan and the light stuff would flow out. Leaving the gold in the pan. Kinda like a mini river sluice? Just a thought
Yep, if I seen someone throwing bottles in any area we will probably be fighting or that person will be leaving in a hurry. And great job as always Shane.
your right shane not always abot the gold more the adventure and getting in touch with nature dont get me wrong it would of been even more enjoyable regardless thanks for taking us along
awesome video Shane so cool to watch and i don't blame you for wanting to get out of that heat and have a nice cool day gold hunting :) i would like to see a video like this but to where you find the gold and how you find the gold would be cool and interesting at the same time as educational and fun :)
There may not have been any gold, until you dropped a piece of your gold, in there. Dang it, I hate that when that happens ! And your like oh well, too funny Shane 😆
Allan’s Best Dam Gold Pan is an awesome product. As with any pan your speed will increase with use. Try it with dry material. It works great wet or dry. You really need to get into using the magnetic sand probes he sent you with the pan. Use them to poke around in your prospecting spots to find the black sands. Then use them to find the highest concentration of black sands and that is where you do your test pans. Too many people just hunt with a pan and get almost zero for their efforts. Those probes will help zero in on where the heavies are dropping out and lead you to more successful prospecting...... ⛏🤠👍
Love the videos and always the consistency with your work and content! I live in MD right next to the Antietam battlefield one of the bloodiest battles in American history. If your in MD sometime wanna look thru my yard for any relics?
Awesome. You seem like someone (nobody in particular) from my neighborhood (georgia) growing up. Crazy. Much respect. Luthier and gold? Seriously? Thanks for your service, by the way. Would honestly like to meet you sometime
That is beautiful country. I found a small flake the other day here in s.w. Virginia im hoping to get permission its a ancient river bed all the right signs.the sample i took was a 16 once McDonald's cup of concentrates lol
30 pans and no gold and you lost gold as well that’s brutal have you spoken to the Secret spot person to find out if you were in the right area? Regardless it did look like it was a nice day thanks for taking us long even though there was no gold it was still a good video that’s prospecting and keeping it real well done see you on the next one👍🏻👊🏻
I live up on top of the mntn...in Lake county....sometimes I can tell kinda where your...at...there's a plethora of places up here....thoroughly enjoy your videos...you know in the not so old days folks still threw there trash in the river....f ING crazies
well you still found some gold, not a lot mind you but still something, I swear one of the these days you are going to find a record setting piece of gold, and maybe try for some silver in the future, otherwise awesome video man
