Especially since some parts of the world people refer to their wallet as a checkbook regardless of if they still carry checks in it.

@@jayaskme2942 sorry but you are conflating your belief of checks being instant money with the fact that a check is nothing more than an 'I.O.U' until the piece of paper clears through bank protocol, or as I previously stated "a draft against the money". Credit cards and cash have instantaneous methods of deduction from the 'account'. If checks were the same as CC or cash then they wouldn't or couldn't 'bounce' due to non-sufficient funds. Furthermore a check requires the payee to perform further labors in order to actually procure the monies where a CC or cash transaction guarantees your funds without further labor needed. A check says "i.o.u., now go to this establishment and collect the debt from this account." A CC or cash say "here is your money" even though the CC does allow the payor to write an i.o.u to someone else. I happen to live in an area where people call wallets checkbooks but those same people still call black folks racial epitaths. I suppose that makes it right just because they do it? Furthermore, before they were called 'checkbooks' they were known as 'bankbooks' and they were the proper size to fight bank notes (dollars) in, hence why people would say "let me go get my bankbook" which then turned into 'checkbook'. The concept of what your saying has nothing to do with people(other than those in today's dumb-downed world)believing their 'checkbook' or 'checks' were actual money. Next time you open a checking account read the terms and policies. It will tell that checks are not money but are a draft of the money the bank holds in your name. Checks are not, nor will ever be, money. That IS their specific purpose. Why else would you have checks? They are not a form of money but they are a form of payment. BIG difference.
