I got distracted. Damn coyotes!! Somewhere along the road. Of course, I didn't see any 🙄 but they seem to move along when I go out with the spot light and.243.. Nice Beaver!!! And an otter too!! Hopefully they let you keep the otter. Not like you were actively trying to trap it. Have a good night my friend!
Ya, it's nice to catch those biggies! I miss Dwayne and his show too. Sometimes I go back and watch some re-runs. Keep Moving Forward, brother, and thx for watching.
That Goose was absolutely crazy! It landed up there a handful of times and then moved on. That beaver was a biggie for sure. Nice catching those ones. Thx for watching! Have a great day.
Thx a lot Brother! I sure enjoy beaver trapping in the spring. Sounds like the DNR is going to give me a permit for the Otter. They know incidental catches happen. Sure appreciate your continued support! Best wishes to you.
Awesome monster spring beaver! But yes they are a lot of work LOL! That's pretty cool with the calf hide. That rain must be awfully welcome. Take care my friend
They were a couple of good ones! Nice catching those mature ones. Was so nice to get that rain. It came exactly at the right time to get the grass growing! Thx for always taking the time to watch, brother! Have a good day.
Great to see another one, of your video's brother. I'm not a cattleman, but I found it very interesting like you said to skin the calf. And drape the hide over the other ones, so she's accepted by the other mother. Keep moving forward my friend and we will see you down the trail.
It always astounds me how you can have a hundred calves in a calving area and they all smell different. This is a good way of fooling their nose and getting them to accept a different calf. Thank you very much for watching, brother! Have a good day.
I have never seen a goose land up in a tree either! And the nest on the beaver lodge was very interesting! Those beaver catches were impressive and all although the otter is a lot of work it is fun to see, and I really like the way they look! Have a great day, brother!
I think that Goose had some mental issues going on, lol. Those geese like putting their nests on beaver houses and Muskrat houses. Those Otter are cool looking Critters. But they are quite the predators. Thx for watching and commenting my brother!
Yeah you can tell better with your hand how big it was and it was a huge one LOL Big congrats on the huge and big beavers and an otter!!!!! I see you didn't mind at all it wasn't a beaver but an otter LOL Hoping for you to be able to keep that otter!!!!!!!! Yeah it's better to do it the right way cause the other way cost to much!! I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Good evening Garry. Unfortunately, it happens. We haven't skinned one in 25+ years. Had great luck with small pens and patience. And a few of the normal tricks to get a cow to take a calf. Never seen a goose in a tree!
Good evening Ed. I think that Goose must have been suffering from mental illness. I think it was a Liberal Goose, lol. Hopefully you will get some of those dawgs in your crosshairs! The DNR said they will give me a permit to keep the Otter. They are pretty good with stuff like that around here. Thx for watching my friend. You folks take care.
Good Morning! The skin trick works great. There used to be a powdered afterbirth you could sprinkle on them that worked pretty well, but I think they outlawed it with the mad cow scare? NICE BEAVER! Keep that tail!! That one is big enough to make a wallet! It's amazing how those geese flatten out like that and blend in so well. I like your baited conibear. I've never tried that. I bet it would work great under the ice? Heck Yeah! TWO big beaver! You'll get 4 sides from those tails, give a try to tanning them! Otter are terrible to skin and flesh. Fun catching them, but yeah...you'll be busy! Dang, I hope they let you keep it. In my area, I there is a quota on Otter. I think it's 15 total and then they close the season. Each trapper is allowed up to 3 , and after you catch 3, or they close the season, you have to turn them in. That Mountain Lion I caught......it sold for $425 in the Fish & Game auction. I would have like to buy it back, but I would have had to outbid that, plus a $40 fur buyers license, and a round trip drive of 600 miles or so to Northern Idaho.....too much. Sure hated to lose it though....
Good morning Gary! Those baited sets do work under the ice. When I was young and full of energy I used to trap some beaver under the ice, and used that set a fair bit. Ya, both those beaver are nice. I have the tails in the deepfreeze, I will have to order a bag of logwood dye and give it a try. The DNR is going to give me a permit for the Otter. Sorry you couldn't buy your Cat back. That would get pretty pricey though and I totally understand. I wouldn't have been able to buy it back either. Thx for watching Gary! Best wishes to you folks.
Thank you my friend! The DNR said they will give me a permit next week so I can keep the Otter. I sure do appreciate you, Brother! Have a good evening.
I'm guessing that the goose was the gander & he was keeping a close eye on you. Nice beaver for sure. Great tip on getting the cow to accept the calf. Catch you down the trail. Planty of waterfowl on the lake.
Either that or it was a Goose suffering mental illness, lol. Ya, nice big beaver! I really enjoy trapping beaver in the spring. The waters are alive with water fowl here now. Thx for watching brother, and have a good day!
That was a great day! You sound like me though. More than two Beaver in a day and I'm not happy. They are so much work to skin and put up. When I was a kid we did the same thing with orphan lambs skin out the dead one drape it over One that either lost The ewe or maybe ewe had triplets or quads work 99% of the time Heck of a lot better than having bottle babies. Once again, great day! I appreciate your videos. Thank you
Yep, That's why I never set to many locations at once. I have 7 lodges that I could trap quite easily. But 2 beaver a day is enough. Hanging the skin on them really fools the mamma's nose! Thanks so much for your continued support my friend. Have a good day!
Excellent work. Kinda is crappy that there’s no fur pick up or late spring sale. Guys like yourself who are catching mainly beaver shouldn’t wait till a fall sale when the prices on beaver may come down. Let’s hope they don’t. Stay safe and good luck out there friend. 👍👍
I know, it is crappy. I either have to freeze the pelts and board them next fall, or board them now and hope I can keep the bugs out of them. Guess I could maybe re-freeze them after they are dry. Thx for watching brother! Best wishes to you.
Generally 3-4 days. Depends how hot it is. If it starts to get a little smelly before that, you can take it off. The calf and hide usually smell the same at that point. But there's no fighting with the cow. The calf just starts sucking! Thx for watching my friend. Best wishes to you.
