Opening Morning 2023 // Uncle SI is back for the start of another duck season!! 

It honestly brings a tear to my eye to see everyone getting older. I pray they have many more years together.

Even tho Si is on oxygen. He still gets up at 4:30 am. That mentality is why he and the rest of the clan is still around

The Southern MS Flyway is experiencing a similar situation to what the eastern shore of MD has experienced with geese since the 1980’s. From the horribly implemented & managed WRP/CRP programs, no til farming in the corn belt, thousands of new acres of CA land in MO, & the lack of cold & deep snow in northern areas, waterfowling in the southern MS Flyway is nearly gone when compared to the past. The amount of time, back breaking work & money it takes to prepare & flood winter habitat only to see a few hundred ducks the entire season has become prohibitive. Twenty years ago, you could drive the MS Delta & see flooded fields, woods & waterfowl for miles & miles. These days it’s bean fields & mile upon mile of dry WRP/CRP tracts with little if any waterfowl habitat.

Godwin is the only one that hasn’t aged at all. I meet all of them when I was 13 at a wildlife supper at a church. I’m 30 now. The man still looks the exact same

As someone who grew up watching the old duck commander DVDs and knowing that my father got to meet Phil. and id always look at his photo he had with him framed with my dad. he always went hunting on Catahoula lake here in Jena LA, always thought Phil biting into a ducks head to finish them off was so cool lol. but iv always had a lot of respect for the commanders. and iv always looked up to them and I'm glad to see yall are doing well and still hunting and living yalls best life i miss being able to hunt myself so much. and my wife grew up seeing Phil and going to his house and is actually in her family i remember about a year ago me and her went fishing in luna and there was a side by side coming up the road with Phil in the driver seat just looking at me and my wife and i was like holy crap it was Phil and it was awesome. wish i could have talked to him and hopefully one day i will be able to. god bless you all and i wish the best.

My wife and I live in fernandina Florida drove all the way to West Monroe to take our picture under duck commander sign. Would have been fun seeing someone but didn’t want to aggravate so picture was enough

Wish i had a family to go duck hunting with, but atleast im from a family that hunts aswell so watching these guys all these years is like home and im from the islands where its shooting pigeons, fruit bats or other wild game meat. Hopefully this family prospers many more lifetimes and that Si remains in great health.

There are a lot of teal this year even in Colorado that’s really all I’ve been gettin a few mallards and woodies but a ton of green wing

Them mallards ain’t even made it to central Arkansas yet ole son

the first 3 weeks of our season went fantastic ducks responded and decoyed great and then they all disappeared and it has been one of the worst on record for us in the Mississippi River flyaway. now we have a few stale ducks and looks to be no more up north of us with 3 weeks left yet

Were over a month in to mi duck season and I've only seen 4 mallards all season. Its been divers and woodies and a few teal. Its been a very weird bad season.

Before reality TV existed as a genre these guys were killing ducks and I was watching them on VHS and DVD. The best.
