A GOOFY MOVIE is underrated *Movie Commentary* 

The nerdy kid who says "Yo Stacey, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me babay!" That is Dante Basco AkA Rufio AkA Jake Long AkA Prince Zuko and many many many other characters and movies.

Seriously one of my absolute favorite Disney movies. Honestly. For being "A Goofy Movie" it manages to be extremely engaging as a father/son story where it actually makes one relate to both Max and Goofy. Both perspectives is relatable. And the two Powerline songs are fantastic. :p Great reaction. As always.

This movie makes me cry when Goofy and Max get a bit too real. I’m not a 90s baby but I grew up with this and it is one of the films that helped me get through my parents divorce as a kid. I will always enjoy this movie, and it’s so underrated.

Fun fact: The guy who did Max’s singing voice (Aaron Lohr) is now married to Idina Menzel

As a Kingdom Hearts fan, I'll always love the reference to Donald being Goofy's best friend.

Eye to Eye is a banger, Powerline is fire

The Powerline ending is the most satisfying I've ever experienced in a Disney movie. It overdelivers on the climax.

A Goofy Movie is one of my favorite Disney movies because of the father-son dynamic between Goofy and Max and the relationship between Max and Roxanne. Also the soundtrack is amazing. There are so many incredibly catchy songs that it certainly makes it well every viewing of this animated classic.

I LOVE A Goofy Movie. This is one of the few films that just gets better with age for me. Definitely a childhood favorite of mine. Also, Nobody Else But You is one of my favorite songs in the film. :(

nobody talks about this but PJ was definitely in an emotionally abusive relationship with his father, like he was constantly afraid of upsetting or disappointing his father in fear of punishment, he was quick to obey him, constantly searching for validation from him and you can literally see the disappointment in his face when Pete does the whole “sike” thing when he goes in for a high five at 13:29 as if this is a thing that happens often??? and it just makes me so sad cuz I felt it...

1:55 Yes. He was originally created as a humanoid dog. Walt actually wanted a REAL dog but at the time it was to hard to draw a good one, so Pluto came later AFTER Goofy but YES Goofy is a dog-human hybrid.

this is absolutely one of my favorite Disney movies EVER. I actually really love "On the Open Road", mainly because I think it's clever how they use the sounds to start the song, and I really like all the characters on the road that they interact with. but I agree that "Eye to Eye" is the best song from the movie. no contest. thanks for a journey back to my childhood!

The actor who plays the Cheese lover in a can (I always forget the characters name) is Pauly Shore and imho it’s the best movie he’s ever done hands down.

I love how there is so much teenage energy in this movie, especially between Roxan and Max.

Not even 20 seconds in and I feel old. I was 5 when A Goofy Movie came out. God, I still love you for doing a video on this film. Honestly, A Goofy Movie is among my favorite Disney films because I can relate to Max. The whole father/son storyline reminds me of my relationship with my dad. Plus, I will admit the music is pretty stellar in this film. This video is the start of a great day for me. :)

The actor who plays Principal Mazur is Wallace Shawn. He is rex, the boss from the incredibles, the principal from Chicken Little, Bertram from Family guy, the ghost from Haunted Mansion, and the funny dealer on Vegas vacation.

I just rewatched this movie after like probably 12 years and it was my fav childhood movie and half of the comments u made about what u used to think while watching it I said the same things im crying. the cheese on the pizza and the motel room decor I vividly remember LOVING that so much .

Personally i think that 'A Goofy Movie' is a heavily underrated classic with incredible music, just like 'Rescuers Down Under'. Goofy has always been on of my childhood heroes, and having him star in such a colourful, delightful (somewhat dated :P) movie is an absolute fun fest!

Love this movie. I was Max’s age when it was released. My dad & I had a similar relationship. I did have crush on Roxanne. I need a Ducktales/ Goof Troop crossover movie asap. A shame Disney doesn’t revisit Max & Roxanne’s relationship later in their lives.

I love the songs in this movie so much (The Powerline songs are at the top of my list)!!! This is definitely an underrated Disney film. I'm still not sure who to side with in the situation. Goofy should've talked to Max about where to go on the vacation, but Max was just so rude most of the time and didn't even give the vacation a chance.

Funny enough, Disney has actually said that Goofy, and all goofs, are actually humans. Just, non-human humans? What's wrong with a girl calling her father "Daddy?" Beside the sexual connotation that people give it? 9_9

my favourite part is when max says that "i have my own life" line and goofy responds with "and i just want to be apart of that". They did a good job with portraying a parental and child relationship, i cri evritim...

I feel so OLD, use to watch this movie 24/7 with my mum and she still sings the music and keeps on saying "Maxy!" XD

Thank you so much for making this video. I'm glad someone in the world loves this film as much as me. I totally agree that the pizza, and pancakes look second to none in this film. I've been looking for pizza just like that forever. I used to watch the same thing on MTV. Cribs, Sweet 16, Orange County, Next, Made, Life of Ryan, and a ton of other shows. I love Wallace Shawn movies. The guy is such a legend even though many people don't know his actual name. The music in this movie deserved to win Grammy's as far as I'm concerned ! Tevin Campbell did such a great job as Powerline. Powerline is an amazing name for a pop star btw. I feel bad for both Goofy and Max. Goofy was overdoing it but loved his son. Max was trying so hard to just be cool and love his dad at the same time. Pete is such a jerk and always has been. I bet he's a Trump supporter. Bobby and PJ rock lol. Omg, I had a crush on Max too. He was my dream boyfriend for years when I was a kid. Still kinda is lol. I love it when the nerdy kid cat calls Stacey lol. Btw, I'm from LA. I love my hometown . I know it's not for everybody though. I am hoping to make it to OZ soon. This movie could not have been more perfect. And yeah, Roxanne needs to stop slapping her dad on the ass lol

The voice of Bobby was Martin Short, but he wanted to be uncredited for the movie and I dont think he got paid for it by choice

I love this movie. I was 5 when this came out. Had it on VHS. Just rewatched it and then rewatched again with my son. This movie is forever in my heart.

My only problem with this movie was that even as kid I thought Max was an obnoxious brat. Like all the activities with Goofy looked so fun and Max just wanted to sulk and complain.

100% agree with the soundtrack being underrated - I can't get enough of 'I2I' and 'Stand Out'

I feel like what makes the Goofy Movie all the more special is how it ties in to the show Goof Troop. I didn't really watch Goof Troop when I was a younger but I eventually gave it a watch a few years ago and it definitely plays a good backing context on why Goofy was the way he was in the movie because in the show Goofy and Max had a pretty tight knit relationship but Max was a little kid in the show which made sense why he looked up to his dad but as per story telling, Max reached teenhood and that's usually when kids kinda pull away from their parents and it's pretty neat how they played that angle into the movie between them But yeah A Goofy Movie is a classic film for sure and I don't think it'll ever lose it's charm lol.

Great review of a movie that I've never seen. It does leave that glaring question of what happened to Max's mother unanswered though. Glad to you've also done The Princess Bride because Wallace Shawn is so amazing in that.

Being a kid / teenager I sympathized with Max, being an adult I sympathize slightly more with Goofy compared to Max but I can see where Max is coming from.
