Thanksgiving the best holiday because food. I’m excited about all things I’m cooking. I’m nervous about Apple pie so I’m using pilsbury pie crust but I’m still excited. It’s a step up from Publix bakery. Hey take some help. I’ve enjoyed your cooking show.

I wish you could come to my Thanksgiving and just taste everything and rate my dishes. Oh well, I guess binging your videos while I cook Thanksgiving dinner next week will have to do! I used to ask myself WWNLT. (What Would Nigella Lawson Think); these days it's WWART? Which is a less charming acronym, but just as inspiring a question in the kitchen!

Difficult to choose what I'm most excited for: Great Grandma's orangey Yams, or my Green Beans {as amped-up Casserole with 'bella & truffle mushrooms, and homemade fried onions, OR as with hazelnuts & brown butter}, or a new tradition I'm starting: make 1-2 drinks for the holiday {like Cranberry-Orange Sparkler for us cooks to sip on while preparing foods on Wednesday and Thursday, + an after-dinner drink - making both the cranberry and coffee liqueurs . The drinks and appetizers will also be very nice for any friends and family who drop by.

Made this for thanksgiving last night. It was a total hit!! There were also pumpkin cheese cake and pecan pie that people also brought, but like you said people only had room for the crunchy flakey sweet/salty apple tart. Keeping this recipe near and dear from now on. You’ve inspired me so much to become a better cook, thank you so much for these simple beautiful recipes!

Love this pie crust! I've made it many times without watching how to do it and it has always turned out so well that it has turned this formerly not-a-pie-maker into quite the fearless one. I've worked the dough a bit more than what I see here and it has still turned out gorgeously flaky. Will try this and see if there a difference. Thanks so much!!!

Thanks, Alison, for these Thanksgiving videos. {Still impressed by your full T'giving meal you prepared in the old TINY kitchen. } If you could do a very detailed video on TIME management - including getting hot foods out on the table so they're still hot - , that's be SO appreciated by the time-challenged folks who love to cook and host.... THANK YOU.

R.G., I hope that Alison might give you a few tips on time management but if not, think about how you can keep some things warm until serving time. Do you have a slow cooker or Instant Pot with a warm setting for mashed potatoes? How about a large Thermos for keeping the gravy hot? If you have hot mashed potatoes and gravy, you’re golden! If you think a few of your sides might need a spin in the microwave right before you sit down, for heaven’s sake, make sure they are in a microwave safe dish. You will be swearing if you have to change out dishes and bowls. All it takes is a bit of thinking ahead of time when planning your menu and you will be able to do it. Just don’t drink heavily until the food is all on the table, then celebrate! Have a terrific holiday! 🦃🥂🍾

@@pegparrish3512 Thank you, Peg - yes, 3 crock pots for yams, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. The green bean casserole'll have to re-warm in oven - while tented ham/turkey rests - because of CRISP fried onions. I have a thick ceramic to heat, to keep breads warm. Do hope for time management during preparation tips. Going to prep as much as possible day before in the host's kitchen : make bread dough, gravy, yams; ready turkey breast with herb butter; blanch green beans - and put together casserole?; toast hazelnuts; put together 2-4 appetizers; making 2 infused liqueurs today.... Thankfully, the hosts are making the ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing/dressing, cranberry relish and pie(s). I have 5 lbs apples so may ask them to make an extra crust so I can make an apple gallette....

Well my goodness, R G, you are obviously no neophyte at this game! You have spent a lot of time, thinking through the menu and serving pieces and if you have all day on Wednesday to prep, sounds great (unless you are expecting several hundred guests!). The thought of sharing a kitchen with the hosts on Thanksgiving gives me pause but they must be good friends and you will be way ahead of the game by Thursday, so just concentrate on having fun! You sound like you are very accomplished in the kitchen, so I’d say you’ve got this! Maybe Alison will see this and share some tips, we can always hope. Have a wonderful holiday!

I am not much of a baker - usually stick to the wok or grill or smoker, but this recipe is awesome. I just pulled the galettes from the oven and am waiting for them to cool. If it tastes as good as it smells and looks, then it will be a winner.

Can't wait to try this recipe. Question about the cooking time for the apple tart - on the video you say 35 minutes (as you put the trays in the oven), and on the printed recipe it says 60 minutes? Would you please confirm the cooking time. thank you.

I cooked it according to the printed version: 60-75 minutes & it was perfect. 35 minutes seems too short & the crust might come out soggy.

I cooked it to 35 mins and it was perfect! Exactly deep golden, perfectly caramelized all over and crust was crisp and flaky!

I literally watch your videos every morning while I go to work. I LOVE apple tart (and apple pie)! Just watching that you cook it is truly therapeutic.☺ I'm not a scone person and I failed baking scones two times before last Christmas. I failed one time making a sponge cake as well. But this Christmas, maybe I could try to bake with one of your recipes... Just the way how you talk kinda relaxes me from making any mistakes or being clumsy while cooking. I also love you use your hands when you mix dry ingredients! It's so inspiring and amazing. Thank you for your adorable videos. Also thank you to the editing and shooting team of your videos. it's better to do it right out of the fridge, cause the dough will be more difficult to work with once the butter starts coming to room temp

Ofc I had to mess it up from the beginning. I decided to divide the dough recipe in two so I’d have one disc instead of two. And guess what! I divided the dry ingerients, the flour and when it came time to add in the water+vinegar I ADDED THE WHOLE PORTION 😱😅

Love the videos! Watching from Seattle and love them all. Trying to make a kosher meal and wondering if there is any possibility of success with this tart crust if I tried using margarine or some other non-dairy fat. (not my preference, but there are others who would appreciate it).

I'm not a chef, but I've used vegetable shortening to make vegan/dairy free pie crusts. The flavor isnt as good as butter, but the texture is divine.

I can’t for the life of me get the juice and the sugar to stay in the dough! It comes out during baking. It was even frozen when I put it in the oven. What am I doing wrong??
