A Grave Digger's Take On Life

Life is incredibly short. The video starts off with me covering a grave. While covering this grave, I ask that everyone watching reflects on what they are doing with their life. After I cover the grave, I give my take on life.
Once the grave was done, we jump back to the farm to prepare for harvesting more corn. We visit the bin site as well as the corn mountain in the big machine shed. After working on the combine, starting a few semis, and cleaning up some trash in the shop, we started harvesting corn. During this harvest adventure, I had a visitor ride with me, Chuck got the 1991 Case IH 7140 stuck, and we broke a slip clutch on the corn head.
The next day we had semis to fill, semis to move, corn to harvest, and a grave to dig. We got rained out for a little while in the morning and then jumped into harvest full swing. After harvesting for awhile longer, we had another grave to dig.

Cole what a great message. I am a 3rd generation grave digger and I've been going to cemeteries for as long I know. My wife and I took over for my Grandfather over 10 years ago. I have buried young and old. People I know. Some days are tough. I feel that there is not much I can do to help families so I try to make the gravesite as nice as possible. I appreciate seeing the care you put into the work you do. Keep up the good work and spreading your message.

I was saved last year. Building a relationship with our Lord and working on living the life according to Gods' will. He feeds me every day and he is in control of my life. Despair and depression is replaced by love and grace. My heart is changed and I hate the sins I used to hold onto. Ask yourself how happy are you only relying on your self? I was rejected by this world and now I understand why. John 15:17-19. If you haven't, give in and humble yourself in private and ask for forgiveness, then ask to receive the Spirit of the Lord. The Lords presence in me feels like a gentle energy inside of me. God Bless you.

Cole your an inspiration for your generation, as well to other😇As an Ex - Farmer, I really like watching what and how you go about farming which is totally foreign to me, harvesting corn and beans. I heard you once call the combine a header, which is what we call them in Oz.Its funny that we call a combine a small seeding machine, which is generally used for small farms and large seeders are called air seeders. Cole this video is amazing! My favorite so far! My little town has had someone complain about the nativity scene on the courtyard for a few years now, and our judge was even threatened with a lawsuit from this individual...so our judge will no longer allow the nativity scene on courtyard grounds. So, my husband came up with the idea to paint a mural of it on one of the buildings in town. We have 2 building owners that have said that we can paint the murals on their buildings! So we’re raising money to have a nativity scene painted on one building and the three crosses on Calvary on the other building! Keep on sharing your faith and the love of Jesus! Glenn you are so right, it’s very easy because deep down it’s rooted in all of us. We silly humans just love to complicate things! Owen, as a believer Cole had me in tears. Well said. I remember the last day with my late husband like it was yesterday. I gave him a kiss goodbye and waited for him to come home. He never returned. Instead, a police officer showed up at my door with news that he was never going to. I hold on to the fact that he left that day with the knowledge that I loved him. I miss him and always will but knowing that he knew that he was loved and that I showed him that day helps with the pain of my loss. Life is indeed fleeting and oh so precious and too many times you don't get that tomorrow. Make the most of each day. Love fully, completely and openly.

Dear Cole, Your video introduction here-- respectfully burying the dead and the music you use-- is so beautifully presented. Your words are thoughtful and important. Thank you! My mom passed away this year in June, and I learned that when your parents die and leave this earth, no matter what age, you cannot help feeling like an orphan facing the big wide world completely alone. However, it is faith that keeps and makes you whole again, and this is the point where you have reached full adulthood.

Tarey Reilly so sorry for your loss. The firsts of every occasion are the most difficult. I wish you strength to endure this time as that is the best healer. Know you are not alone either. Talk to your mom often, write a journal and letters to her. We don't have to disconnect in every way. Little by little Tarey the bad days will be replaced by the happy memories. Do have to wait sometimes if the ground is frozen? My Dad died just after Thanksgiving in 2000 in Northern Maine & we had to wait until May to bury him. I used to joke that we put him in a snowbank & waited until we saw his feet sticking out to know when things had thawed out enough! Some people don’t appreciate dark/gallows humor, but Dad would have thought it was hilarious. Life without hope is bad enough; death without hope is unbearable. John 3:16-17. 😎👍🏻

God bless you Cole. I have been thinking about you and all young farmers even more lately. A 19 year old young man was killed in a grain bin accident just about 20 miles from me here in central Indiana. He loved farming just like you. Many many area farmers pulled their tractors, combines, etc al along the road to the cemetery. What a great community. I worry about you every time I see you go up on the grain bin. I'm 64 years old now. When I was in high school I worked at a cemetery. I learned to run a backhoe digging graves. I dug graves for four teenagers that I went to school with. I like that I got to learn to operate several types of machinery, just wish it had come about differently. My great respect to you for the service you perform.

I live in Scotland and when I first left school at 16 I went to work for my local council and was digging graves it was all done by hand I all weathers we went down 7 feet if was a new plot and It did make you think about life like you said life can be short one day you could doing a grave for old person who passed due to age then you could doing one for a much younger person sometimes younger than me and you showed all he compassion and respect that these people and families deserve its not an easy job to do so respect to you and your dad for doing it keep up the good work

Oh Cole you had me in tears! Life is so short...we always think “next week we will do that”. It really made me think about that moment that my whole life changed, the phone call that broke me and made my heart physically break...”Dad is dead”....I never knew grief was so physically painful...that you can actually feel your broken heart. In April it will be 3 years...feels like just yesterday but also a lifetime. My dad was my hero(I was a very sick newborn who doctors said I would not live, they sent me home to pass away. My mother walked out of the hospital after having me and didn’t look back. He fought for my life literally) and my best friend. If it wasn’t for my brother, husband and four kids I wouldn’t be here...and I am being 100% honest. Thank you, Cole...every moment is precious.

Also I suffer from a disease called Crohn's disease and have lost a couple friends to the same disease 😢 I have been close a couple of times myself but I always remember to trust in the Lord and he will provide. My relationship with Jesus is the only thing that has gotten me through some of the worst times with my disease.

Cole, thank you for your sweet loving soul. We buried our 22 year old son, he passed one night in his sleep, so unexpected and so young. I miss him, especially during the holidays...he loved life and loved his family.

I lost my father in a farm accident 10 years ago. After the funeral, I was allowed to turn the crank that lowered the casket into the grave. So, the last thing I did for my dad was to lay him to rest. It was a really special moment. I really appreciate you sharing your faith. I know that farming is emotionally challenging right now due to weather issues and tariffs, but your faith will get you through anything. Tough times never last. Tough people do.

My momma passed away in August of this year, it’s been a journey without her that’s for sure. If I had her buried, I’d want you to be the one that dug her grave, you take such good care when doing it. LOVE the video dude! Bravo.
