The all-new Mazda CX-70 debuts the latest Mazda SUV, slotting between the CX-50 and CX-90. Unfortunately, the Mazda CX-70 is oddly familiar, sharing it's body, drivetrain, and interior with the its larger brother (minus the third-row). This specific Mazda CX-70 GT-P is equipped with the 3.3L mild hybrid inline-6 and clocks in at $56,845.00 CAD here in Canada and is equivalent to the US-spec Mazda CX-70 Turbo Premium.
Can the Mazda CX-70 make a case for itself and carve-out a niche next to other SUVs such as the Acura RDX, BMW X5, Honda Pilot, and Kia Telluride? Or will it falter to its "larger" brother and fall into obscurity? Find out in today's review as we evaluate the Mazda CX 70 interior, exterior, and driving experience!

So... does anyone consider the CX-70 worth it with only a $1,000 price difference to the CX-90?
@Rodghost1
@Rodghost1 День назад
I did and I love it. I don't want or need a 3 row SUV. I wasn't interested in the CX90. But for me, the CX70 is PERFECT. I like the look of the front and rear of the CX70 more than the 90. I like the blackout trim better on the CX70. It doesn't matter what Mazda called it. It's not a CX90 and I'm glad it's not. It is however, a WONDERFUL SUV to drive, that's for sure.

CX-70 comes with more options when comparing all but the highest trims. And the 70 has the lovely burgundy interior.

Maybe you should try something a little different. when the CX70 came out lot's tried the CX70 CX90 thing. The CX 70 is way more sporty and most don't need the 3rd row.
@GCCarsCA
@GCCarsCA 2 дня назад
I mean, are we not supposed to point out the very obvious flaw in the product planning here? And it's not any more sporty than the CX-90, it is the same car.

As someone who has a loved one who deals with epilepsy, the biggest advantage for this car over the 90 from my perspective is the safety feature in this car that senses a medical emergency, stops the car and calls emergency services (only in some of the models fyi). This is a life saving feature for people that lose consciousness while driving (seizures, heart attacks, etc) that is a very important difference between these cars. Please consider disabilities & emergency situations when you review cars. The review at the end that says you don’t gain anything and it’s the same car is not accurate if you are someone who has epilepsy or any sort of disability that requires a car to sense medical emergencies. The cars are not the same.

So many reviewers comment the CX70 has the very same cup holders in the cargo area, where the third row would be in a CX90. This is NOT correct. They are NOT the same. Not a big detail, but you should be aware they are completely different in the CX70.

How many different ways can you pretend to mistake CX 70 and say CX 90 ...horrible. The bottom line I wanted a two row with a bench seat and whether you call it a CX 90 or CX 70 I would have taken it exactly as they're presenting it here.
@GCCarsCA
@GCCarsCA 2 дня назад
Glad you're liking the CX-70! It's a great SUV, just a shame that it takes the slot of what could've been an actual two-row SUV that slots between the 50 and the 90.

I totally agree with you that Mazda made this vehicle a disappointment by overhyping it. I was as disappointed as you are when I saw it the first time. However, as a current 2019 CX-9 Signature owner, I would consider the CX-70 for the following reasons: 1. The CX-90 does not offer a second-row bench seat in the upper trims. I have gotten more use out of the middle seat in the second row of my CX-9 than I have out of the third row. I have rarely used the latter. 2. The CX-70 is available with a red interior in the Premium Plus trim, at least in the US, and it has an MSRP under $51k, which is a decent value considering the MSRP for a top trim CX-50, for instance, is over $45k in the US.

Don't think it deserved the video title. Maybe "Same but different" lol. Enjoyed your sense of humour though. I am buying one. Arrives in 4 weeks. I have a 150 pound St. Bernard and a Husky Malamute. The CX-90 captains chairs would not have been practical and the CX-90 2nd row bench option is ugly as f*%k (my opinion). So this CX-70 sportier, and roomier for 2nd row and looks great! So looking forward to it and retiring my Evoque. Also looking forward to the GT PHEV!

Unfortunately the RU-vid algorithm pushes us to be a little click-baity in terms of the title, but we hope it was made clear throughout the review that our disappointment doesn't stem from the CX-70 (arguably a great SUV), but Mazda's product planning and marketing. In your case I can see how the CX-70 makes more sense then the 90, but I stick to my guns by saying that this should've simply been an option in the CX-90 configurator. That being said, I'm sure you will love the CX-70!
@Rodghost1

Agree. But reviewers think they need a title that will grab people's attention, even if the title is dumb and doesn't really match the review. I love my CX70!
@JJF1973
@JJF1973 День назад
@@GCCarsCA, be careful with the clickbaitey titles. We get enough of that from Scotty Kilmer. Donut is suffering a little now from such titles as well. It can be a real turn off to a lot of viewers. However your true feelings about the marketing come through clearly if one watches the whole video. Many will not get to know that because they will skip over the clickbait titles.

Picking up my cx70 today buying a poly Grey with red interior i wouldn't buy a 90 the 70 looks sportier and for all you people who want a 60 I wouldn't have brought that if you look at the spec's it is the same size as a cx50 with less interior space and only 29 cubic feet of cargo the cx50 has 31

Appreciate you giving us your reasoning behind purchasing the 70 over the 90. We agree, the 70 looks better, although I really love the new red they offer on the 90! Overall, we do like the CX-70 a lot which we hope was made clear in our review 👍

I own one and I agree. The marketing is poor and so are some of the choices. Believe me when you drive it you don’t realize it is such a large vehicle. I transitioned from a CX5 and it seems equally nimble and the PHEV is a smooth model. Not sure it is worth 60K. Probably a better option if you are open to lease
@GCCarsCA
@GCCarsCA 2 дня назад
CX-5 to CX-70 is definitely a great update - especially when you get the PHEV option (we have yet to test that one). We do like the CX-70 / 90 a lot, it's just a bummer that it takes the slot of what could be a true in-between option. But hey, maybe they'll find a way to bring the CX-60 over some day.

I got a Rhodium White CX-70 Turbo S two weeks ago. Loving it so far and nearly a thousand miles so far. Why'd I get it instead of a CX-90? You can't get a second row bench in any of the trims except the very lowest. My wife and I want... no... need the ventilated seats. On the CX-90, you can't get the ventilated seats in any trim except the very top. The Turbo S Premium, the second highest trim, has a bench and ventilated seats for 5 to 6 grand less than a top trim CX-90. And we don't need a three row. And the rear cubbies actually hold good deal of stuff. Boom. That's why, for me, the CX-70 is the way to go.

I’m confused about all the complaints it’s sportier CX90 with less seats. MOST people don’t even use the 3rd row! As far the cup holders not being deleted, Mazda is a small company saved millions not having to redesign a piece that most people won’t even notice. I pick up my Polymetal Gray CX70 in a couple weeks
@GCCarsCA
@GCCarsCA День назад
The complaint is, that Mazda had a great opportunity to actually increase their market share by offering a vehicle that sits in between the CX-50 and CX-90, but instead they just deleted the 3rd row of a CX-90 and called it a day. This should have simply been an option in for the 90, not a new model. It's a massive waste of potential for Mazda. It's still a great SUV like we said, so I'm sure you'll enjoy yours once it arrives!

Mazda, bring the cx 60 to north America. Who authorized this cx 70 should be fired. This a cx 90 without the 3 rd row. This has to the the worst decision Mazda has made.
