After endless tinkering I do the Kingtone octaland (running clean) into a Shin-ei vibe-bro into an Axess electronics Unbuffer into a Tone bender mk1.5 into fulltone full-drive on light drive into a Friedman small box. F-ing heaven. I own an actual Uni-Vibe which is on its last legs so not gonna use it anymore. The vibe-bro matches it exactly - it has 120v AC power in. Which is key. Problem is vibe-bro no longer made have to buy it used.
A lot of vibes tend to have that issue where need to max out the volume on the vibe so there isnt a volume drop when u disengage it. I noticed that too with the gypsy vibe on the TPS shoot out.. Seems like the consensus is if you want a vintage voiced vibe most of the boutique ones will get you there, and if u want a high fidelity vibe without the quirks you get the ER-2

I've been really curious to try a Weaver vibe. I've had a Retrovibe and Deja Vibe but mostly use a Sabbadius vibe. I have a 68 Funky Vibe and Fillmore Tiny Vibe. Both are fantastic and worth trying as a comparison.
IMO, Gotta have both Germanium and Silicone Fuzz as they both have their own character. Uni-Vibe is another must have (IMO). Great Content James, Thank You.
Congrats! Great tone! I also have a violet vibe and arrived to the same conclusions. You should try also a well sorted fuzz face with bc 183 Texas Instruments. They can be biased more gated or more glassy to your tastes. Cheers

Enjoyed all the Hendrix content so far, I share the same favourite tracks also. Looking forward to more. Those fuzz pedals sound amazing. The vibe also, but oooof £470… I went for a cheap Danelectro cool cat vibe for £20 and it is actually very usable.
Awesome fuzz pedals. I’ve been going down the fuzz rabbit hole lately too. I think I prefer a low gain silicone fuzz face right now. Germanium gets too dark for me when I turn up the guitar volume. Maybe I just haven’t tried the right transistor yet though.
this probably none of my business lol but i think youd better reach the tones your looking for by using a lighter gauge pick and if u wanna be super nerdy only vintage medium fender celluloid... i could be totally off but sounds/looks like a heavy heavy pick to me.. or its your play style idk lol... interested to hear either way or like if u already tried these picks and settled on what ur using now
Hi - yup, tried and am happy with what I use, it gives me stability as I have large fingers from years of powerlifting/strongman stuff. I also do hit hard and can't help that. This particular guitar is set up with very heavy strings and a blocked trem too and I like it :) cheers!
Fuzz is very difficult to use IMHO...sounds best with single coils and through a cooking amp . MIdnight vibe sounds good....Trower uses the Deja vibe and I think the preamp allows them to blossom at the sort of volume he plays at...( which I know from personal experience is loud!).
