A ' GRONK' through CREWE station !! 26th February 2021

After an overhaul and being delivered by road transport to Crewe Heritage Centre, making use of their unloading facility., RSS (Railway Support Services) 60 year old class 08 'gronk' 08752 ( D3920) , is collected by DRS class 57, 57307 'Lady Penelope' for the very short trip through Crewe station to Crewe Carriage Sidings, where it is going to work, on hire.
When was the last time an 08 went through the station??

@@Madonsteamrailways No nothing wrong with the gronk, freshly overhauled, delivered by road to Chc, but not allowed to run under its own power on Network Rail tracks due to regulations

Thanks Richard. Certainly. The 08 had been delivered by road, after overhaul ( at Derby, I think). to the Heritage Centre, to make use of our unloading facility.. Then it had to be dragged across to the carriage sidings, where it was going on hire. Not allowed to go under its own power, due to all Network Rail regulations

What is a gronk?? There used to be over 1000 of them!! class 08 deisel shunter, although admittedly Scott, I didn't know there nickname until a few years ago :-)

Puzzled why it had to be dragged. Have seen them working without con rods fitted. So it couldn't be that. Ahh, the little Gronk hadn't signed the road through the station ,, needed a Chaperone !! Lol. Was watching it all on Railcam,, made me late for work. 'Oh dear' Nice vid mate,, big thumbs up . Take care Pete. 👍😀🐢

Thanks Ian. I think the rods were left off so it could be dragged a bit faster. Not allowed to run my itself, due to all Network Rails regulations, even though only a short distance. Worth being late for work for, like me! If you saw it on railcam, you would probably have seen me in the distance?

Nice footage Phil, to answer your question when was the last gronk through Crewe station. I think LSL 08s might have been through at some point if not then in the future.
