We were having trouble keeping high humidity in our Savannah Monitor's enclosure so we thought we would give the whole grow tent reptile enclosure thing a try! So far we love it and Dude loves it as well!
really cool Idea! I bet he loves his new enclosure. The reflecting walls make it pretty bright too, perfect for monitors. Hopefully he won´t tear through the tent when he tries to climb the sides
Manuel Paschinger the tent we have had in use now for just under 2 months. He likes it the heat and humidity are easy kept where it needs to be and he never digs.
Flipping it over was clever, I hadn’t considered that. I may incorporate that in my future Tegu setup. Also the cinderblocks around the edge was a good idea too.
I like the cinderblock and tarp reinforcement idea as well! Does your tegu burrow at night? Has it ever escaped from this enclosure? @redstrom Reptiles
Now that we have had our tent for the Savannah for a year it still is holding up good and we did get a 2nd tent for our tegu and he hasn't ruined the tent but we did put bamboo around the walls on the inside of it.
We just got a Tegu, and thinking of getting one of these for enclosure too. I read comments that you have one for Tegu also. You should do a video on that enclosure.. Also question, how does the humidity fair in these? I know they have to have high humidity, but i would imagine enclosed like that would keep it at 100% at all times.. Thanks. hope to hear back from you soon.
Hi and yes we do have a grow tent for our tegu. It does hold the humidity good with every one in a while giving it a good mist the bulbs do dry it out and having it open but the Coco bedding and soil do well with keeping the moisture good and I will make a video on it.
Do you think a grow tent would work as a temp set up for a young iguana? I'm between houses and cannot build a proper enclosure. I have a 16 inch iguana at the moment who will be outgrowing the 60 gallon he's in soon and I need to find suggestions on what to do with him..
I am not to sure on iguana care but in my opinion I think it can work very well add climbing places and uvb and basking would be good and humidity the tents hold very well. And it can be a good permanent enclosure I have the Savannah in one and our tagu in another and it has been excellent.
How good is the airflow because I’m looking into getting a Savannah Monitor and so far this is the best big enclosure idea I have seen thanks for sharing.
I am not sure I dont have one but I wouldn't see why not can get there claimant setup we have a Savannah in one and a tegu in the other grow tent and has been awesome.
@@snakeguy86 i see can u give me link ro where u bought this tent ? but also would u consider making me a cage i really like how u made that reptile cage i know its going to cost me if u have the time ?
Kyle the grow tent got off Amazon but for me making a cage and to ship is expensive and I wouldn't have much the time to do it the cages are around 160lbs and big so the sipping is tremendous.
Unfortunately the exact tent we bought is no longer available, but we got it on Amazon. If you dig around they have others just like it..just search 48 x 48 x 80 grow tent. eBay has them too for a pretty good price.
Would it be a good enclosure for a tegu? Im looking to get my tegu something bigger than what hes in right now but i dont have the money to build a wood enclosure right now so i was looking for a unique new enclosure for him
@@snakeguy86 Thank you. I'd really like your honest opinion on what could go wrong with it, the only fault I see it that I will have to seal the top holes.
Yes there is multiple holes in all sides of it that are pass through for wires yeah to secure them up and heat fixtures will half to be setup in a way the snake can't get them.
Yeah it was a good idea Christine saw the grow tents being used in a monitor group that's how we learned about it and our tagu is going to get a grow tent.
Manuel's reptiles it might as long as the holes where the power and lights go through are niceley sealed up that way can't escape. But one that is smaller because this one is way too big for a ball..
Miguel at Always Evolving Pythons does that! It seems to be working fine for him. I would just make sure you have a way to cool it as well as heat it. I can see it getting too hot at certain times of the year depending on where you keep the tent.
Hey man! Hows it going with the grow tent? Im thinking about it for my baby peach throat as a grow out cage. I have a 8x3x6 waiting for him to get larger! ANy issues with hot bulbs or it being too reflective? Any info would be great!
The grow tent is working good and they haven't messed with the bulbs. It worked so good for the Savannah that we got a 2nd one for our tagu they work good in my opinion.
You do realize that exanthematicus is a high humidity species right...there is absolutely 0 change you where getting anywhere close to minimum humidity or even heat requirements in that wooden tank. I know this video is 5 years old but this is atrocious husbandry
Why do people make this so hard, skip this shit and build an adult-sized cage! I suppose people forget monitors are born and released right into the wild, so they are ready to survive. Bigger the cage the better, especially from day one. Why do people make so many excuses for not having a large cage?
That's okay but if you build an adult-sized cage, contrary to anecdotal evidence, a monitor lizard will not have to be moved again (less stress) they will have plenty of roaming room and you will be able to enter its home and sit down with the lizard to become acquainted. I find this hobby/passion the most difficult due to the lack of useful advice and people being stuck with anecdotal evidence. You ask for help on FB and you get multiple answers which lead to arguments. But when it comes to housing I've learned build early and build big.
I believe you are confused. These are called 'grow' tents because they are essentially indoor green houses and allow plants to grow indoors (ie; marijuana). Totally different than what reptile hobbyists refer to as a 'grow tank' which is a smaller tank that you eventually replace with a larger tank as the animal grows.
