This is the much improved (2.0) edition of my most popular tutorial. This describes methods for tying 4 Strand and 6 Strand Coachwhipping around a rope core.
I've been wrapping my long handle tools in St Mary's hitching, which I just so happened to learn from your video! They all work great and now my tools are never loose in my hands, thanks!
Yes, but only for tools that do not require any strong grip like axes or hammers. It will shred your skin after a few strokes.Screwdrivers maybe or fids or the like.
@@romandybala I started wrapping my farm and ranch tools because I have missing digits and even though I was white knuckling the tool, they were still loose in hand, so I grabbed bailing twine and only worked on the things I have slacking grip on
Thank you for the tutorial. I enjoy doing the 4 strand version . I hang mine from a sturdy walnut hall tree. That's how I do most of these braids . Just another way of doing it.
John, many thanks for this! My previous efforts at coach whipping were less than stellar. I'm inspired to give it another go! I really like the mirror. Also the trick of working on half, then flipping around. In addition to working with shorter cords, I think this will allow me to fix any snafu at the beginning, where I usually have a gap or some other boo boo.
In the past I would tie with three lines each as it lay in … and there would be gaps of a fairly good size … then after completion, grab a lacing needle and individually add four more lines … time consuming but effective
