John, Thankyou so much for the effort you put into these interviews. Seems there are a lot of people out in the world who are knotting, ropemaking, macrame working and you are tying them together in your way. You, Mikko Snellman ,Des Pawson and others are like living versions of the history that was almost lost. I thought ABOK was the most impressive book I have ever seen in my life. Couldnt believe when I found it in my local library. Imagine how much poorer we would be without it. Notwithstanding all the names you have mentioned and shown. I saw my first sinnet frame about 6 years ago in an old rundown museum in Geelong Victoria Australia. They were quite large and I was overwhelmed with what I was looking at and couldnt imagine how they were done. The museum has closed and I wonder where those works may have gone. I,m starting my first sinnett frame at the moment. Its 24x8 inches. It's to mount the head of a blubber spade that I found in a derelict sailing ship here in Melbourne Australia. You gave me the impetus to start. Thankyou.
Excellent interview John. Very informative and interesting. Keep these interviews going as long as you can. They're extremely important for the health of this great art. Thank you for all you do.
_hi? It's so lovely to see John with his parrot friend. I'm not good at English, but I listen to my brother's stories and engrave the meanings. I am lucky to have met hyung in the arduous knot work. I hope that hyung’s health and knot knots will always enjoy knotting._
I had tried to tie a Spanish ring before, I kept getting lost several times, so I haven't tried again. I have a length of some nice four strand that's stiff, I've been saving it for something special, I'm going to use it to tie one of those ten point stars you showed the other day.
@@TrevvettKnots yes, that's where I learned about it, it's a handsome knot with unique features, but I kept getting lost in the weave almost as fast as I started, so I haven't tried another just yet.
Tie a bunch of 3 lead 11 bight Turks heads till you don’t have think about it … when you deeply understand that the changes to create the Spanish ring will come easier
OK, he done let the cat out of the bag, I knew there was the potential to make some money from knotwork (especially keyfobs) but he said he sold about four thousand of those Turks head bracelets today.
Yeah …. When you have an established retail store and can make a bracelet in three minutes without hurrying and sell them for $10 …. Of course he’s only made 1.2 million sailors bracelets in his life … it’s like breathing to him
