BECOME A PATRON TO GET SONGS/TABS: www.patreon.com/coversolutions Good line for practicing pick accuracy, staccato and rhythm (i decided to use a pick to emulate a little bit of the attack on the original song, you can use fingers). The track uses a keyboard to create a bass synth. I didn't go for trying to recreate that sound, and more for sitting the bass well on the mix. Sorry if it's not that audible. The line itself centers more on the tonic of each chord (except for the inversion on the chorus), marking it with octave movements on some parts. About harmony we're on a clear A Major with some issues: A Major (F, C, G are #) I A (A C# E) II Bm (B D F#) or Bmadd9 (B D F# C#) or Bm7 (B D F# A) or Bm9 (B D F# A C#) for this case (extended harmony, coloring) III C#m (C# E G#) or C#m7 (C# E G# B) for this case (extended harmony) IV D (D F# A) or Dmaj7 (D F# A C#) for this case (extended harmony) V E (E G# B) or E7 (E G# B D) for this case (extended harmony, dominant function) or E/G# (first inversion) VI F#m (F# A C#) bVII G (G B D) for this case (Mixolydian approach to A Major) VII G#dim (G# B D)
Thanks for all this extra notes...Yes I liked this song for lots of reasons: first, the voices and the drawings from the video, then the bass but I always though it was just a synth one.. Really great job and accuracy from yours....Again, thks a lot!!
Just wondering if there are any non bassists appreciating this. Or are we just a gnarly group that will recognize and praise talent when it's deserved? Well done.
As a drummer I always keep humming different bass lines to this song. I think it is the perfect song to practice all sorts of different bass lines and techniques.
As you say, "The track uses a keyboard to create a bass synth. I didn't go for trying to recreate that sound, and more for sitting the bass well on the mix". And that's the great thing!! I'm only an amateur bassist but I play electric guitar for many years and as every musician, professional or not, I'm interested in how a real bass fits on the mix. And you did a really great job!! Thanks for sharing!!
Which raises the question, why stick with the bass synth. Sure it sounds “cleaner” but the actually instrument gives so much sonic nuance that’s lost when you go with clean synthetic bass lines. You don’t realize how clever the bass lines are until you hear it actually played.
Lyrics: [Intro] "Alright guys, [cough] I'm doing 'Take On Me' now, alright. I, I really, I really like this song, it sounds good." [Verse 1] Minin' away I don't know what to mine I'll mine this anyway In this Minecraft day So beautiful, mine further down What's that I found? [Chorus] Mine diamonds (Take on me) Mine diamonds (Take on me) I'll mine them So far I've got two! [Verse 2] So easy to mine With my Minecraft pickaxe and shovels Hopefully they stay In my Minecraft chests So I'm gonna make A lock on it [Chorus] Mine diamonds (Take on me) Mine diamonds (Take on me) I'll mine them So far I've got two! [Bridge] "Ah! [cough, cough, cough, cough, sniff, cough] I'm alright, I'm ready" [Verse 3] All these diamonds Sittin' carefully lay I'm getting worried ("Shut the fucking door!") If they might get stolen From my ender chest Wait, who is that? Holy sheep, it's Notch! [Chorus] Mine diamonds (Take on me) Mine diamonds (Take on me) Now they're safe Woahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Now... Now that they're safe Woahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Mine diamonds, [heavy breathing] (Take on me) Mine diamonds (Take on me) [Outro] "Uh, Thanks, thanks for listening guys and thanks for recommending this song"
Thanks for uploading. It's funny, I never realised just how much the bass featured in this song, till I played along to your tabs. A great example of less is more, just enough bass to make the song work, but not overdoing it.
Exelente canal !!!!!! Buena ejecución de tu instrumento Ayudas bastante estuve viendo tus vídeos ya que buscaba covers y encontre este estupendo canal Felicidades!!!!!!!
We're talking away I don't know what I'm to say I'll say it anyway Today's another day to find you Shying away I'll be coming for your love, okay? Take on me (take on me) Take me on (take on me) I'll be gone In a day or two So needless to say I'm odds and ends But I'll be stumbling away Slowly learning that life is okay Say after me It's no better to be safe than sorry Take on me (take on me) Take me on (take on me) I'll be gone In a day or two Oh, the things that you say, yeah Is it life or Just to play my worries away? You're all the things I've got to remember You're shying away I'll be coming for you anyway Take on me (take on me) Take me on (take on me) I'll be gone In a day I'll be gone (take on me, take on me) In a day (take me on, take on me) (Take on me, take on me) (Take me on, take on me) (Take on me)
Well for Whiplash you just need two fast fingers for the gallop parts but Anesthesia? man i've been learning that song for 2 months (even tho i have the KEA bass tab book it's still frustrating playing anesthesia but pretty fun at the same time now i can play it perfectly) i'll recommend you some gear (sarcasm :D): -Bass -Electroharmonix Big Muff/Overdrive bass pedal -Any type of amp -3 fingers (or only 2 fast fingers if you want to show-off)
Very accurate. The only thing is the original is played on a synth and before the 0:55 on F#m chord the first D note is played an octave lower which cannot be achieved with a 4-string bass unless drop tuned or use a 5-string one. Best cover. Keep it up.
Hi, Just recently converted from guitar to bass guitar. Loving your channel. Pls could you do tabs for 'The sun always shines on tv' would be super appreciated. From all the way down in South Africa rock on..🤟😎🎶
HELLO, GOOD MORNING, CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR WORK, MY NAME IS GERSON AND I LIVE IN SOUTHERN BRAZIL, IN A SMALL CITY WITH LESS THAN 3000 INHABITANTS, YOU HAVE HELPED ME A LOT TO PLAY THE BASS AND I AM VERY THANKFUL FOR THAT, YOU YOU ARE AN IMPORTANT PERSON IN MY LIFE, YOU HAVE MUSIC FROM A BRAZILIAN BAND ON YOUR CHANNEL AND I WOULD LIKE YOU TO MAKE THE MUSIC "CASA DE PAPEL" FROM BRAZILIAN BAND "IRA!"
DSC1986 By the Way doesn't have many standout basslines really. John wrote 99%+ of the bass to that album, that's probably why. He follows simple lines far more than Flea ever has done.
admiro muito seu trabalho aqui no canal tem me ajudado muito eu quero muito sua ajuda nas musicas gospel faz umas tablaturas para nos aqui no brazil boa noite
i rlly want to learn the bass SO badly, i think my dad has one so this weekend im gonna go round his and if he can teach me it (i already play the piano and i'm quick learner anyway)
I checked out this vid cause i was shure id think you failed. But damn i was wrong :D This is good stuff! I happen to know both the first and the second bassplayers of A-Ha. Leiv Eriksson and Jørun Bøgeberg, theyre great :) Ill send this to both of them and see what they think :D
