Best video I've ever seen. 1984 on MTV. Great synth pop song with a beautiful melody.

Thank you for reacting to an a-ha song, one of the best bands ever. ❤ Take On Me is the best known a-ha song but not their best, so you can imagine how brilliant their other songs are and their catalogue is long (they released 11 Studio Albums, the last one in 2022). This version is so beautiful and features the sad lyrics that were never noticed in the original version due to the faster tempo of the song. Morten, the singer of a-ha, is considered one of the best singers in the world, has a range of 5 octaves. But what is even more important, he can convey more emotions with his voice than anyone else. By the way, this unplugged version was used in the movie Deadpool 2 and currently also in The Last Of Us. I would really recommend you to react to more a-ha songs e.g. "Stay On These Roads", "Summer Moved On", "The Sun Always Shines On TV", "Hunting High And Low", "Out Of Blue Comes Green", "Scoundrel Days" "East Of The Sun West Of The Moon" or to some of their rock songs "Manhattan Skyline", "Slender Frame", "I've Been Losing You", "Cold As Stone", "Move To Memphis" They made also the James Bond theme song "The Living Daylights"

Thankyou for reacting A-HA. I have been an A-HA fan since take on me was released in 1985. I was 16 then and I’m almost 54 now so A-HA have been and continue to be the soundtrack to my life for the past 37 years. A-HA are a criminally underrated and unappreciated band from Oslo, Norway and consist of three multi talented musicians. The have 11 albums the last one called true north was released last October 2022. A-HA have a huge back catalogue of great music and I really hope you will listen and explore more of their music. Each A-HA song is different because the band are always evolving and changing also they are an amazing live band. Thanks again. Take care 😘 ❤️🇳🇴❤️A-HA FOREVER❤️🇳🇴❤️ 🎸🎹🎤 🥇🥇🥇 🫠🥰

Turning 50+ does something to us. Once this was a fun pop song, now it's words and meaning takes a whole new meaning. It's no longer a given to be touched by anyone. Few people takes on me. I live alone. Kids moved out. What do we have to look forward to, but the eventual end of life. Because we're all going that way. Death will come for you anyway. So take on me... maybe for the last time.

The first time I heard this song was a year before the rest of the world got to know it. I am Norwegian, and was 16 at the time in 1984 when it was released the first time in the Tony Mansfield production. It became a hit in Norway, but flopped everywhere else. One year later it had been stripped back to the bands demo, Alan Tarney reproduced it in cooperation with the band to the version we know today. It got the iconic video and was released again. This time it went to number 1 in America and about 20 other countries, including Norway.

I was around 12 years old. At home. Listening to the radio, as I often did back then, on the floor with the dog next to me, after school there was this pop-show that lasted for an hour once a week. All the new songs that came out was played there first. The song fast became a favourite of mine. Their two first albums were massive. And are legendary today. Remember my parents had a nice hi-fi setup, radio, cassette player, vinyl player on top. And I used these really large headsets that gave complete experience of the music, none of the sounds from outside interferred with the music I heard. There was volume buttons on each side. I miss those days so bad I can put myself into a state of bliss and emotions take over, so intense it brings tears to my eyes thinking back on all the good 80's music.

I remember being 6 years old watching the video on mtv and I was so fascinated! Until today it’s one of the best music videos ever! And then I heard this version, I still have to cry every time I watch it, still can’t believe that this originally uptempo song is that sad and deep and just breathtaking beautiful

The original music video now is approaching 1.7 billion views. I was 12 years old when I first heard this in 1985, I’m now 50, I’ve been an a-ha since the beginning. Have seen them live many times. Last November they released their new album true north. It’s their 11th studio album.

Yes you are right 👍 The Video to Take On Me is the best music video ever made and it was so groundbreaking. But I wanted to correct one little thing, the official video has 1,6 billion views.

Such a great song from the 80s, and this relatively recent acoustic version lends the song even more depth. But as someone who studied animation in the 1970s, Aha's video contributed greatly to a relatively forgotten animation technique from the late 1800s "rotoscoping". As did many animators from The National Film Board of Canada, like Norman McLaren who founded the NFB's animation division in 1943. The impact of the "Take on Me" video should not be underestimated. Here is an article explaining the history and development of rotoscoping en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotoscoping (No special effects or modern animated films would have been made without understanding this technique.) Here is 3-part short doc on the making of this video, in all its aspects: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wlTHJJX7QVU.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CcxLyGKw48s.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7Lho0_9-V-8.html
