I always wondered in this here whether he simply chose not to try for the high note, because what he does instead is very emotional, poignant, mature, heartbreaking....
What makes this version of the song so sad and somber for me is how you can draw a parallel between the original and this version to real life. This is an old song, and if you notice, the crowd is full of people well into their adult years, they've grown old along with it. The original is fun, exciting, and full of energy, just like when you're a young teenager. This version is slowed down, the energy and "youth" of it is gone, but in its place is a tenderness and an almost haunting and melancholic tone to it, which is indicative of getting older. You slow down, you've expended your energy, you're less upbeat and reckless, but you're more aware, sensitive and tender, and what was once the youthful thoughts of invincibility and now replaced with a growing realization that you don't get to live forever, and time is short, growing shorter every day. So needless to say when i look at this song in that way, it adds this extra sad depth to it for me
One, if not the best, reaction I have seen. Love how you reference to the woman associating the song to their younger years, recollecting old love and dear memories.
Nice to see your review. Been a fan since 1986 and met them several times. They're really kind and modest. When Morten sings 'gone' it gives me goosebumps!
could you react to summer moved on live from nobel prize 98? as a vocalist, it's interesting, his most outstanding vocal performance of the song which is also a kind of masterpiece, definitely one of their finest, later released as the first single of their return album in 2000, minor earth major sky
Loved your analysis of this classic. I’m a huge a-ha, would love to hear you impressions on more of their songs. You have a new subscriber. Greetings from dublin Ireland.
I’m really late in commenting, but I’ve been enjoying your reactions! Particularly the a-ha reactions. This one was perfect. Pitch Perfect! 🤣 I like that you are a musician and can genuinely “react” to songs. And you are funny. Did I hear you singing “mosquito” at the end?! 🤣 I subscribed after that. Hahaha!
It reminds me of those times when I fell in love and taught plush dolls and musical cards ... and chocolate with flowers ... yes sir, I was very romantic.
Yes that shoulder hunch disguised some small nerves.. But how brilliantly he recovered to give us a great song. And as you suggest a great and new interpretation.
Beautiful version of this song. I might prefer it over the original actually. Morton has aged well. As a man, even I can admit that that is a good lookin dude

I love this song. However, I HATE, absolutely HATE this version...Sorry, dont pretend to be mean, but it may be my personal view on this, but this version destroys the classic, original version. -10 for me
