Lapwings love moorland. The birds are hard to see as their feathers blends with the moorland colours, but their call is so distinct. Unfortunately, Lapwings are much less common, having diminished in numbers by around 50% in the last 30 years. Such a treat to see and hear them. Their eerie, plaintiff call fits so well with the rugged moorland scenery.
