Ellen welcomed a heroic woman named Alyson Myatt, who ran barefooted through a burning house to save a 5-year-old boy. She was joined by the boy and his father as she shared the incredible story.
She deserves every bit of that and more. I hope there are people in the medical profession out there who hear this and take care of her with no cost to her. God bless her, she is a true hero.
i dont know how people can say mean stuff about the dad. you can hear his voice cracking. he is almost in tears. his little boy almost died and he's probably a single father so he almost lost his family. i would be crying if that happened to me even tho i would be happy.
This interview hits home really hard, about a month ago my home burned down. God bless this family, thank god they're okay. My prayers are forever with them.
What a horrible thing to have to go through!! Praying that no one was hurt physically, and that you were able to salvage any valuables (especially old photos, etc). God bless you!
I'm a nanny and would do the exact same thing we build up such a strong relationship with the kids its like they are ours i have so much respect for her :)
So I googled.. very weird indeed, the father is not the biological father and is in a custody war. The nanny put out an earlier ceiling fan fire and thought she took care of it before going to bed, she never called the fire department, the fire was not actually out just starting within the walls. The "father" has all kinds of legal and financial issues. the biological mother gave him temporary custody when she had to go to jail for a drug charge, he is or was fighting to keep custody. He has robbery charges, animal cruelty charges... poor kid.
she actually subbed at my middle school and she was a really nice person. she told us to always follow our dreams and never doubt yourself even if tragedies like this were in the way.
Truly touching and heroic story. That being said, it seems there is sometime of rift between the nanny and the father, she does not look at him once, and looks strained when he speaks. perhaps just nerves or something but feels very tense.
Ellen I love you very much. My friends in my county ask me all the time whenever I watch your show through (RU-vid because I Dont get your live show ) umm I use to tell them that after mahatma Gandhi the second person in from whom I get inspiration you ellen. Thank you Ellen every time watch your show you give me courage n smile on my face even though I recently lost my dearest mom. Thank you once again. You know I'm a gay and its kind of taboo in India n I never shared to anyone but after going to your story now I openly say I'm a gay n I'm proud of it and its all because of you.thank you ..
I noticed immediately that the nanny looked uncomfortable. When she says "Call me" because Ellen suggests she is a good Nanny, she laughs and looks at the father directly afterwards and then awkwardly stops laughing. I feel like that was her trying to show that she was a good Nanny and then checking to see if the father agreed. I definitely feel as though the father blames the nanny and was trying to cover up his anger towards her on television... That was the only time that the nanny made eye contact with the father.
i thought that looked strange too. i thought she was jus plugging her gd wrk in and forgot he was sitting there . she prob still wrks for him. but she felt funny saying she wanted other jobs too bcuz it would prob interfere with that job
she saved his child, thats something very valuable and something to treasure, its alot better than money to know that a person risked their life for a young child :')
I find it odd that the man's insurance company isn't covering his nanny's medical costs. She was working in his home. It felt odd between them. He should be paying and ensuring she bears no costs, especially since she saved "his" world.
Maybe the father cant afford the medical bills for her because it seems to me he is a single father and that is hard within itself. Also he is probably working 2 jobs and I am sure if he could afford it he would pay for those bills.
MsKillerqueen5 hiring a nanny doesnt mean he's rich. He's willing to pay for the nanny and this is inevitable because his son is too small, so he will definitely need a nanny to take care of his kid while he's away. And who knows how much the nanny ask for the money, probably she understands and takes low price! Im sure if he can afford the cost, he would pay her already!
+Deborah Mitchell You take on a lot of responsibility having a Nanny or any professional who lives in your home with the 100% care of your children. I don't lack empathy for his situation. That said, I do have my own view. ✌
+thatgirlNancyy Her accomodation & food are typically part of her salary - not something that is even remotely part of any compensation. Nannys earn every penny of their salary and to suggest that be so, shows a very shallow understanding of who a Nanny is. ✌
Simply amazing. That's real motherly instinct at work. So glad that there are people like her, and like Ellen that are willing to help with her recovery!
C'mon man... a life is way more important than a house... that can be built again and everything would be fine where as she risked her own life just to save another. Its people like you that they are given a finger and you try to get the whole hand...
Ed Edd Eddy Gees. Why are you even pointing your finger at me? I am not getting anything by saying it would be nice if the father and son get some love as well! I can't imagine losing a home and EVERY SINGLE THING in it! Sure a house can be rebuilt but there are stuff you can't buy! It was a terrible accident. Even though the boy came out from it without a scratch - thanks to the nanny - they still lost everything! And yet they are so grateful just to be alive and together! Don't you think they deserve some love and kindness as well? Plus I never said anything about taking anything away from the nanny. She deserves that money and she is a hero. I just feel bad for the people who lost their home to a fire.
I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned the strange tension between the nanny and father... They don't shoe emotion towards each other, infact she completely avoids eye contact with him..also, when he says he got a flight back as soon as he could, and that he had heard his son was ok so he went to c her...she looks annoyed or uncomfortable... I don't know. There's more to this story tho. I have a feeling she has little respect for the father for some reason or another.
Moments like this are often mistaken a lot... you can clearly see in the father's voice that he was very close to just breaking down... imagine what he would feel like if he looked her straight in the eyes and then at her burns... he wouldn't be able to hold it in any more and he didn't want to do that on camera... he probably talked to her and thanked her so many times before ...
Wow so touch that is a baby sitter everyone needs and the dad just look so sad he wishes he could of Ben there wen that happen he was going to cry awwie
touching story. i'd definitely want her as our nanny when we get to that point. all three seem so sweet; hopefully, everything works out for all of them.
the tension!!!! 1st she said call me all smiles looked at the dad and stopped immediately. Then when she had her hand on the boy and the dad reached over she moved immediately. When he said he went to visit Alison in the hospital you could just see the HATE and resentment . the boy looks so sad. she didn't make eye contact with the father hardly at all. ... not one to say hey they be abusive...but if you can't see all this ... wow.
I'm a nanny and I would risk my life in a heartbeat for the girls I look after. They mean EVERYTHING to me and I could never let anything happen to them!
$20,000 towards a bill that should not exist. Why should anyone be penalized for saving another persons life? The reality is that healthcare is a bonus, predicated by your life situation, regardless of your need in this country. the time is approaching when the profit motive for a basic human need will be eliminated.
+thekpmckay Well not entirely true. The healthcare system isn't some single entity. What you are upset about is actually the Healthcare Insurance industry. When that woman burned and came to the hospital, actual people took care of her. People who are employed by the private, for-profit hospital who pays salaries. The hospital isn't government run and payed out of taxpayer money. She wasn't penalized for saving a person's life. Her medical bills were not jacked up special for her. Listening to the story you hear the woman has NO HEALTHCARE INSURANCE and therefore what would have been a $250 deductible became way much more than $20k. If the woman had healthcare insurance and worked for an employer that provided workers comp you would have nothing to complain about. It's ok to be fed up, but make sure you hold the right people and organizations responsible. This scenario is what Obama attempted to put a stop to, but his push for universal healthcare was snuffed out by Congress and big corporate insurance companies that run our country.
No one is entitled to someone else’s labor for free. Doctors put the effort into achieving that title and work ridiculous hours to revive crackheads in the middle of the night so ya, they aren’t cheap. There isn’t a big office somewhere called “healthcare” its thousands of working Americans who you pay to save you. Life.
He did get something, he got the life of his little boy saved. It would have been terrible know your child burned to death don't you think? But no, he's safe 😊
Sorry to put a damper on this happy story but why was the fire so advanced by the time she woke up? No smoke detectors in the house? This could have turned out a lot worse - as it does for many people.
Third degree burns are open burn wounds. That are more painful then anything you could ever have happen to you. I can't imagine the pain this young woman is enduring.
She is brave. But did enyone noticed her face when man was tallking. It seams that thay were arguing about something, or something happened between tham. Her face at 2:43 if you look closer, shows embarrassment & not satisfaction. Well I am not en expert. I am sorry if someone will not like that, but there is something, something going on. In all interviu she not even once looked at man. That is just my feelings after I watched a video.
No, no. It's just her feeling extremely self conscious. She didn't know what to say or how to act. Especially watching her hands, I play with my hands when I'm nervous. Those are just my thoughts. :).
I once had an accident and my left leg was burned all over with 3rd grade burnings and trust me, you dont want to feel that pain, I almost went crazy for one leg only and almost her whole body was burned even her hands and two weeks after it happend it still hurted a lot, I think it was all in once, she was nervous as hell, in incredibly pain and maybe even still in shock of the past few days and its also not funyn to get pulled into the public from one to the other day like that. have mercy on her, she could have died by saving a little boy
StrawberrysDead I understand her pain. She realy have balls bigger than bulls. She is to brave to be truth. I am very glad that there still are people like that, risking their lives to save others. But all I want to say - that there is something between her & the father of boy. In whol time she didnt looked even once at him. Maybe that had some argue.
She would be on some pretty strong pain killers still during that interview. It could be very likely that she was trying really hard to concentrate and pay attention to what Ellen was saying.
