Today Ellen welcomed neighbors Lesli Bills and Bill Crousser from Nashville to tell their unbelievable story. During the terrible flood, Lesli's house caught fire and Bill came to rescue her, her friend, and two cockapoos...
It just makes me so happy that there are people out there who care about their pets. Some people just think they're animals... Pets are smart, almost human smart. We are mammals ourselves, they deserve equality as much as we do!
I lived through that flood...I was helping people off of boats that had to leave every thing they owned....I told them if you have it in your mind and heart you will always have it.....Just brought back memories of that horrible flood and all the GREAT people of Nashville
Ellen, I truly believe that you are an angel sent to us. You have so much love in your heart and help so many people. You're a beautiful person inside and out.
Damn, you just don't hear stories like this much. It's so great that there are still people out there willing to risk life and limb to help someone else, not even considering their own personal safety in order to help someone out. And it's even better that someone like Ellen is there to reward them. Good on the heroes, and good on Ellen.
Ellen helps lots of people and the companies and connections she has are unbelievable....that was very nice to give the guy a jet ski since his messed up saving a life and that check for the lady because her house blew up
After watching this video I realize how lucky I am Ellen I thank you do much rewarding Lesli for caring for her animal and rewarding bill for saving the dogs lesli and her friend god bless ya Ellen your truly amazing •Rachel•
I could never leave my dog, I really feel for this woman!!! I would die with my dog before leaving him! So sad! Glad they finally decided to take them!
I know I’m a little late on this video, but I just listened to Lesli’a full story on a podcast called “What Was That Like” and what an amazing strong woman. I’m in tears. And Bill is literally an angel.
I saw a stray dog drowning in the Thames this morning. Without a second thought my eyes lit up and I dived right in, imagining both the glory and the $25,000 cheque from Ellen through PETA. The current lashed against me and the ice cold water chilled my lungs. I fought the pain and dragged the poor dog out, my ears ringing, soaked to the bone, but warmed by Ellen's smile floating through my mind. All I could think about was the money as I hyperventilated and an ambulance pulled up, supposedly called by some shocked bystander. As I drifted in and out of consciousness during the ride to the hospital, I kept mumbling "oh my god, thank you... thank you, Ellen", until I finally passed out. Upon waking up in the hospital, feeling exhausted, my first thought was "wait a second, I live in the UK" "Fuck"
this guy really deserved all that man,how many of us look at the others direction when they saw the house burning?good dude, damn a jet sky,and a truck, ellen you the best
Your animals....are THE MOST IMPORTANT THING... to an owner with NO kids. My DOG was the BEST FRIEND....I WILL EVER HAVE. he MOST LOYAL/HONEST SOUL on this Earth to ME. FYI, He died 22 yrs ago...We've Never got a new pet. I Have his ashes in my room and they will be scattered with mine when I die. (I'm 41 right now). Actually was thinking of having them mixed in the tattoo ink and have a tattoo done for him.
If we had more TV shows like Ellen, more News stories that stress good things that happen, I truly believe our lives in general would improve and our attitudes would be much more positive. However, all we ever see is Fear, Fear, and more Fear.
I lived in Nashville @the time andi remember seeing the Ariel view of everything they closed the mall and just reopened this year my nana lost here home. Becuz after the flood was gone they
I was in the Nashville flood...one of my best friends got like a couple feet of water. They had to move out of their home for a while. It was sad and I was really scared. Luckily and ironically, I didn't get any water even though I live right next to the Cumberland Tiver. It was crazy
its not to value a dog over your own life but a pet u've had for years is like for me atleast a brother since u grew up with it, i wouldnt have left either if i couldnt bring my dog,
To give an example, I'm trained in First Aid and CPR. In a scenario where I could put my skills to use, I would. At the end of the day, I may or may not be able to save the person who's life may be in danger. If asked about the situation later I would say I had faith/confidence in my skills but they weren't enough. I then might say I also had hope that my skills (which I had faith in) would be enough to save the person's life. Neither faith nor hope in such a scenario is bad.
I think shelters should take animals as well but it may be hard due to people with severe animal allergies. It's difficult, in the midst of a crisis, to sort that sort of thing out so that both humans and animals are spared and well.
