Guadalupe Mountains National Park is home to the 4 tallest peaks in all of Texas. An 8 mile out and back hike with 3000 feet of elevation gain on the Guadalupe Peak Trail will take you to the top. I do not know if this is the most beautiful spot in Texas, but it should be at the top of the list.

We made the hike two days ago. We fought 70 mph wind gusts and chilly temps. I recently turned 66 and my wife 65. Much longer time and more challenging for us than you youngsters. ☺️ But we did it! BTW- the ammo can at the summit was recently removed by very sweet park rescue volunteer Pam who is 75 years young but looks 45.

Glad you made it to the top! Movie magic can make any hike look like a breeze 😉. Wonder why they removed the ammo can? We have seen similar cans atop other mountains and think it is a fun tradition. Thanks for watching!

Such a great hike 🤙. We’ve been talking about this one for a while but with the kiddo we think this one may be on the fringe of “too much”. But it looks spectacular and it’s cool that you had it all to yourself 🙌🏼. Weird, never seen one of this notices before. How interesting 🤔

3000 ft of gain and 8 miles round trip definitely puts you into the strenuous hike category. We passed a few kids but also a few strugglers along the way. It might be a good trail to work up to!

I've always kind of wondered why Guadalupe Mountains was a full blown national park but now I understand. That view! It is so obviously like standing at the edge of an ancient ocean., which it is in fact. Wow. My favorite video so far!

Thank You! This park completely blew our expectations out of the water! Along with Carlsbad Caverns, this entire part of the country is underrated. We also did not expect a view like that in Texas of all places.

@@SOSASATSUNRISE I have a question if you don’t mind me asking, is there any entrance fees or you just show up park and start hiking?

@@AlejandroLopez-eo5vm There is an entrance fee for this park. We were given that warning at the end of the video for not displaying proof of payment into the park. We travel with the America the Beautiful pass. For $80 you get unlimited access to any national park in the country for 1 full year. Hope this helps!

How can this park be the home of the 4 tallest peaks in Texas when the second TALLEST peak is in Big Bend?
@SOSASATSUNRISE
@SOSASATSUNRISE 3 года назад
The National Park web page for Guadalupe Mountain National Park says that it is home to the four highest peaks in Texas. I believe Bush Mountain to be the second tallest which is also in GMNP.
