Park Junkie scampers up one of his favorite Texas landmarks… Guadalupe Peak, in Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
At 8,749 feet, Guadalupe Peak marks the high point of the Lone Star State. The hike begins at the Pine Springs Campground & runs just over 4 miles to the summit, making the roundtrip hike about 8.5 miles.

Congratulations WOW. The top of Texas peak (point). 😍💦 The background music sound's wonderful too, so fitting for this pretty spectacular landscape. Ty for sharing.

Yeah! Enjoy... if it's too windy, try Pine Springs Creek up to the Devil's Hallway... or McKittrick Canyon. It can be a windy ordeal up on the mountain!

Was there in November. Unfortunately the wind was so bad I didn't even attempt it. Hiked McKittrick Canyon instead.

I’ve bailed on this hike a couple times due to the wind… good move in McKittrick!

I've been to the park a couple of times, but it's been way too hot to hike to the peak. I did come across some Barbary sheep on the Devil's Hall trail though, which was pretty cool.

At least the wind should cool it off a bit up there… 🤣 I usually visit in the winter…

Hiked the peak one year. It was super windy and blistering hot. Happy that I did it but should have done it on a different day. And with more carbs.

This place can be miserable if the winds are angry… but some days…

I drive professionally and drive across this area today and almost crap my pants. I have extreme acrophobia and it's the only thing to give me anxiety

In Feb 2021 I went to Devil's Hall, but I hope to hike the peak next time.

Devil's Hall was a great hike, & there is a trail that leads up from there as well. I took it on another hike up the peak... Good luck next round!

Have you been to the highest points in any other states?
@theparkjunkie
@theparkjunkie Год назад
Yeah, Washington, Cali & almost Oregon. Turned back with my dog on Hood about 200’ below the summit. Of course, I have a few others… like Florida 🤣

Maybe it's just a Texas thing, but we say Permian differently.

Nice Vid ,but Sad as an outdoorsman ,that you've drunk from the climate change punchbowl.. 4:40

Allow me to clear a couple of things up for you: 1 - Park Junkie drinks whisky… Never does he indulge in punch, or koolaid from either “side of the isle”… 2 - The Earth’s climate has been changing for approximately 4.5 billion years, & will likely continue to do so for the next 4.5 billion years… until our sun burns out, which will indeed inflict the ultimate form of climate change upon our lovely lil planet… 3 - Any reference to climate on my channel is absolutely the opposite of a political statement. I seek to create an environment on this channel that is free of political bullshit from any “side”. So I really just don’t give a shit what anyone thinks about a particular issue… Hopefully folks here can appreciate our public spaces & enjoy their time in such fantastic lands, perhaps even with their fellow countrymen & women who may not agree on a majority of issues. That’s the only way forward for our people as far as I can see… Thanks for watching. 🤙

The CO2 content in pre-industrial times was less than 300 parts per million. We are now at 420 parts per million due to the burning of fossil fuels.

@@martinjdesmond Co2 is not a Toxic Gas ,tell that to your Houseplant next time you breath on it...😎

@@HardPlaze First of all, great video. Secondly, martin never said that co2 is toxic. It is, however, a green house gas which means that, unlike nitrogen and oxygen, it absorbs heat radiating from the Earth and releases it in all directions, including back to the Earth's surface. Co2 makes is by far the most abundant greenhouse gas. That's just science.
