People were convinced one of the playable characters was a corrupt cop or federal agent, which I believe was deduced incorrectly from the 'Rush' casting call when they were scouting talent for GTA V.

Did no one speculate that the game would have at least two protagonists? Repeatedly showing Michael and Franklin. Showing Michael carrying out a robbery; looking over the city from a balcony or something; driving in another scene. Showing Franklin driving; running from the cops in another scene, and alone without Michael. The guy who would be Michael might have been obvious as the protagonist, particularly with the voice over, but the guy who would be Franklin was not depicted as a generic NPC or simply an ally to the player. Did anyone notice?

@@WhyTheHellDoYouExist I think at the time we all didn't see multiple playable protagonists coming. If I remember correctly I don't think it was announced that there would be THREE protagonists until the 2nd trailer. My initial thoughts for the first trailer was "The old guy doing the voiceover (Michael) is a mob boss and the Black guy (Franklin) is probably our playable character who works for that old guy.

The GTA4 9/11 thing has been disproven. The reason they didn’t add planes was because the map was too small to be flying planes around which is why they settled with only helicopters for flying vehicles.

Long story short: GTA fans can only predict the most obvious things, every other thing is just too far fetched to be true. Like in GTA VI's trailer, we can predict that it would have fast cars, beautiful beaches and a sunny weather, not the freaking Bermuda Triangle and Cape Canaveral trips to space. And the map, GTA fans seem to ace cartography for some reason.

Rockstar Games' games are a collective celebration, since they put one out now what feels like once a millennia, which is why it's so saddening when they put out dogshit like GTA Trilogy: The Defective Edition after not working on a new GTA project since 2013. We all want to play their games, we're all excited for what they've cooked up for us, & hell they tried to make us detectives with L.A. Noire back in 2011.

To be honest, I get why people would think GTA 4 would've had a huge map that went beyond just Liberty City. Considering GTA: San Andreas had three different cities and was developed in about two years. GTA 4, at that point, spent the longest in development for the entire franchise, so I cut past speculators some slack there. It would've been more crazy (like actually crazy) to have predicted they'd only have one city tbh.

But tbh, GTA IV felt much more alive than San Andreas. Especially Las Venturas feels rather shallow (it‘s supposed to be, since it‘s a Vegas knock off), but San Fierro and it‘s missions were the highlight of the game IMO. IV was much more consistent and detailed.

@@frizzyrascal1493 IV is by far my favourite GTA game ever. I remember everyone being so disappointed with it, and I couldn't wrap my head around why. People just complained about the map, and the driving. I honestly believe the driving and crash physics are the best I've ever seen in any game (unless you consider BeamNG a game), even to date. The overall physics of the game made up for the map size IMO. I can't even describe how disappointed I was with GTA V when it released. Where was the crash physics? Where was the euphoria engine? I was extremely surprised hardly anyone else was pissed at this. Do the people who think GTA 5 is superior even remember GTA 4 properly? Did they ever even get far enough in the campaign? After completing the GTA 5 like 2/3 times, I just gave it to a friend for free. I still play GTA 4 to this day.

People need to understand that the 3D universe is disconnected from the HD universe. In GTA Vice City, the state was called Florida. In GTA 6 they call the state Leonida. They’ll definitely be Easter eggs for old fans but that’s about it

I disagree, go watch all of the speculations for the GTA 6 videos, even from "respectable" RU-vidrs. I've seen people saying there will be gator wrestling mini games, fully explorable prisons, and more. I'm keeping my expectations low

Wrong. Because after GTA 5 they stopped bringing old GTA games (3,VC,SA) into speculation of GTA 6. But they still continued to speculate about other stuff. Where it's gona be, who we will play as, this and that. And of course this time multiple and massive leaks changed the speculation game. But what do you mean by "so many disappointed game trailers"? Which ones?

Cops running behind suspect is so misleading or probably a cut off feature? I can't remember cops in GTA V running passively behind suspects, they'd always pull a gun at first place and shoot you.

The problem with bringing back 3D era GTA protags is that they'll be Grand Fathers by this point. Tommy would be 60-70 yrs old, CJ 50-60 yrs old and Claude 40-50 yrs old (which isn't too unreasonable for only gta 3's protag to return) they'd have to be side characters though. Like how Tony was an older mission giver before his prequel game, Liberty City Stories

True, but we see characters like Ken in San Andreas & he's supposed to be a little under a decade older than he was in Vice City. We also see Lazlow in nearly every game, that man barely ages or if he does, he can hide it really well. It's not entirely out of the picture that they can return, although Tommy specifically would be hard since Ray Liotta passed away a few years ago.

I remember MrBossFTW speculating that cars would need refuelling regularly because there were gas stations, and other random BS that nobody should have believed. I saw one theory back then which was that Michael was Tommy, Trevor was Claude, and they used to work with CJ, who died during a heist, and that Franklin was his son

I just want to remind everyone to take a breath and remember when we thought GTA V's first trailer's graphics were revolutionary compared to RDR1's and GTA IV's. We just got the first trailer for GTA VI with a release window of 2025 exactly the same amount of time between GTA V's reveal trailer and its release. We are not ready for what Rockstar's cooking with GTA VI...

Yeah the speculation ofGTA V level of interaction and detail was insane looking back. My favorite was people believe every NPC has a unique schedule they followed and you could follow them throughout the day of them waking up to going home at night.

Original GTA actually had three small open worlds that were Liberty City, Vice and Los Santos. It be awesome to see gta 7 try to do a cross country gta where it's all three cities between 3 different islands that you have to unlock through story mossions.

@@samueljones3668 you'd have to add more than the 6 GTA cities (carcer, liberty, vice, LS, SF and LV) to the map though and I think that might be too huge to pull off (could add North Yankton to the north of said map though) I think airports in each city could be a gateway to different parts of GTA America (in SA you could get passenger flights around the map instead of flying yourself) and they could even bring back London too as an 8th location. I'm not a big fan of the empty countryside of 5 tbh so just having the game set in 8 cities (with a bit of country) would be really cool. I think GTA7 should just focus on the main three LC,VC & LS at first though. Then explore the lesser developed GTA cities from SA and North Yankton in GTA 8, etc. If 7 just did Liberty City again I think I'll be disappointed tbh

I know we're looking at it knowing everything we know now, but how did people think Michael could have been Tommy Vercetti? Firstly, why did he move here? The weather? Well isn't it very similar in Vice City? Secondly, how about his age? We all know Tommy spent 15 years in prison before Vice City. That means he was in his mid to late 30s at best during Vice City, which would make him like 60 years old at the youngest in GTA V (I think it was pretty clear from the trailer that the game is set in present time). 60 is not crazy old, but it's certainly not young for a GTA character. The oldest GTA character up until that point were probably in their early 40s.

I kept note of these back then when the trailers first came out and it was pretty funny to see 99% of the "frame by frame analysis" and predictions were as bullshit as they sounded to anyone who thought for a few seconds. I'm doing the same with GTA 6 now lol, lets see how wild people get with the other trailers.

I remember back in 2014 i used to watch videos of some people mixing up theories like how niko died based on what packie said during the paleto bay heist, none of them listened to when he said that he's probably dead because he doesn't know his whereabouts so he assumed niko is dead

I am aware of the fact that he is Serbian, I am just poking around the Serbian people with the fact that most of them have middle eastern blood running through them, which they deny, due to the fact they with the whole balkans where occupied by the ottomans

I remember back when gta5 was coming out, my friend would always talk about how a man will wake up and go to his job and come back. I never really thought it would be true but I loved the idea of course. The speculation era of the game is so fun to do. Talk about the things you would love to see but to be surprised by other stuff. With gta6 (I’m a pc player) with that, pc people run through files and find all the secrets and kinda spoil to exploration of the game. In a way I’m glad it’s coming to consoles, that’s if I get one.

one of the most inaccurate things we seen in the rockstar trailer is the cops chasing the guy we thought was cj. cops don’t chase in gta 5, they shoot first

After watching these old trailers you realise just how much they lie. I never saw a GTA 5 character hammer in a for sale sign in-game. Never seen hikers pose for a picture. Never seen NPC's stop to look at my car or be rude to eachother like they are in the trailers. Maybe these animations exist but they're either rare or too random to even notice. Makes me wonder how much GTA 6 will live up to the trailer?

The same thing is happening currently, everyone is saying that gta6 isn't only gonna have vice city but at least 2 more cities as big as vice city and that rockstar keep them hidden to surprise us. It reminds me of gta5 when people were convinced that san fierro and las venturas would be in the game as a surprise lol. Listen kids, if they only showed vice city, then we're only gonna get vice city

people dont seem to understand that the 3d games (GTA 3, Vice city and San Andreas) are in their own universe/timeline and the HD games GTA 4, GTA V and now GTA VI are in their own so we will not be seeing a cross over from the 3D Era of games, i kept telling people the same when they kept saying Franklin was CJ

3:46 aircrafts were not cut because of 9/11, instead they were as the MAp was way too small to support planes that and the fact there is only one airport in gta 4, no landing strips like V or san

Games stopped being originally cool around the time gta 5 came out. Everybody kind of went to the same formula and players knew what to expect and had a better sense of what was actually possible and realistic vs what they could come up with in their heads. As usual rockstar will be pushing the envelope and they always have a top spot in the industry, but even they aren’t immune from the getting ahead of themselves
