Take a tour of Glen Donaldson's home in Atlanta, GA. The 1800 square foot home was built from recycled shipping containers. See why he says it's the safest and most energy efficient.
A convoluted presentation characterized more by close up shots of knees and posteriors climbing stairs than with showing a coherent overview of how the house is laid out. Trendy & cool but ultimately little more than a statement that says it can be done while sharing little to no information as to how one might replicate or build on the concept.
I want to see a really nice big container mansion. I really like his and I like how sturdy it is. I definitely want extra safety in the event of a storm of some sort. I just imagine something fancy for me lol. I am not really a fancy person it's just what I would like to see.
Im researching on shipping container homes…this by far is the most practical & done right IMO…. for multi living arrangement. garage garage garage in the city is good
I actually worked on that house,,so I've got a really good idea of what was spent. I think with the 1st one (brown one), he was in it about 200k, with it being basically a prototype.
What you have here is so amazingly resourceful. When I first heard of houses built from shipping containers I was a bit skeptical until I saw the houses by Corbandy container crusher (you can get them in Google search).
I like this that you can make your own place to live out of these containers that are just sitting and not being in use. Why not use these containers and make low income housing for people.

The Hilton hotel on the river walk in San Antonio, Tx. was built from pre fab boxes trucked to site. It was built in30 days. This in the mid 1970s. Things are more simple now.
Utah, Oregon, and until recently, Arizona and Colorado. There are many local restrictions on collecting rain water. Bolivia and dozens of others. In general it's called pre-allocation and it has to do with states, counties, and local governments managing scarce water resources and replenishing local aquafers. If you live in Seatle you might think that water is boundless, not so much so if you live in CO, AR, TX, and others.
5000 dollars to 10000 dollars for shipping container home. Leadership is corruption system and money laundering, which GDP national money cost on military armed force to invest war.
Can someone answer me this question? Since it is made of steel, any issues during lighting storm? How do you protect yourself from getting hit by lighting?
This is interesting, but what'll it be like after years of being there? Will it weather well when it's exposed to the elements. It's certainly an interesting and green(ish) way of living.
wow nice build - price per SQ? the containers were standard 40' HC. What was the age and price with shipping/ I now at the Port of Long Beach the price has doubled.
hey that's better than £170000 flat (agents try to call it apartment) rubbish we pay for in the uk flats are really small that's why everyone so pissed

I am thinking of doing a shpping container home but not wanting to endure the expense of joining and all that. I am thinking of just making my home more on the open side. These things are steele why not use that to your advantage? Sleep number bed is a lightweight bed that can be quickly converted to work much like he had that murphy bed. Fabricate a frame on a henge you will have a quick inexpensive murphy bed,
I am sure the land itself cost much more than the house..He looks like to be in a good location in Atlanta. I wonder if it was hard for him to get home insurance?
malik newman Nothing to be scared of, but I don't advise leaving ANYTHING of value in sight. The guy had that house wired up 3 times, the 'heads' kept stripping the copper.
wooden floor in containers are for strength l would think , do disperse weight of cargo and wheels of forklifts , so wave steel iron under will not buckle , and to make floor smooth for driving and moving, just guessing
Cool deal but I can't imagine having my office as a guest bedroom, seems preposterous, like having your dining room as a guest bedroom--you've left planet earth.
I'd never keep the original flooring or paint in the container. It's typically treated with pesticides and other chemicals, so if you value your health, it should all be completely stripped before building the space out.
Cost of container ??????????????????????????? Why is it A fucking secret to every posted video of this type of structure ... If you can brag about your final product brag about cost ... Makes sense to me
there was another video that I watched and the builder was saying that in the bay area CA they run around $1900 and in Texas $4000. Pretty much under $5k for a container. Pretty cheap considering how much modern day shit shelter costs to make.
