All the best with the move! Sounds like a good spot because Osaka, Nagoya and Nara are all amazing. I'm actually back in Nagoya for a month in early summer and cannot wait!
I really hope you enjoy Nagoya! I was there last week, first time, barely saw any of it though I took a walk one night, and saw Nagoya Castle, albeit from outside the main area due to it being closed for the day but I'll be back. Looking forwards to checking out Nara and Osaka once things settle down here in Mie.
Wow! Some amazing views there. I really enjoyed seeing the lovely scenery. I wish you all the best in your move and new career venture. Hope you are able to enjoy creating more artwork and do the things you love. Looking forward to seeing more parts of Japan as you explore. Take care and peace!
Been following your channel and content since you were still back in UK ( congratulations for escaping by the way ) but have rarely commented, as I feel I generally don't have anything useful to add. I love your long-form videos like this especially :) That said, even though we've barely had any interaction over your RU-vid comments, i do love your content and hosting style, regardless of a video being 1 hour + or 10 minutes or less. No hyperbole, zany and explosive reaction stuff. Everything delivered in a way where you treat your viewers as adults. I really appreciate your style. So I am genuinely happy that you will have plenty of new adventures that you can share with all of us, should you feel so inclined. I really, genuinely wish you the very best, moving forward in a new place. Will be incredibly interesting to see what happens next, hopefully in the best way possible. Good luck Vicki ( apologies if I spelt your name wrong! ) Best of luck for the future !
Thanks for all your well wishes! No worries on the name spelling, I use Vicky but I don't mind, it's always spelled wrong and even people I worked with in Japan for years call me the wrong name (Becky is a common one!) Glad you enjoy the longer videos; I know they're not everyone's cup of tea but I can only do me!
May your new adventures commence! 🎉 All the best in your new city. Have your been to one of the Hub British pubs? They make a thing about having Sarson's malt vinegar.
Oooh, now maybe I'll have to check one out. But no I've not been, as I don't drink (as of April 2021) I haven't visited any bars or pubs, and since coming to Japan only been to two izakayas! Corona and the fact I stopped drinking is the main reason. Also, the other major reason - there was no Hub in Miyako. Miyako had very little in the way of shops, it was mostly mom and pop affairs, which had its charms. I don't know if there was one in Morioka but when I first moved to Miyako it was a 2+hr drive, so not down the road!
Absolutely true. I've been through many challenges through my life; and I know I am at my worst when I stagnate. The easy option is to always stay where you are in life, the difficult option is to try something knowing you could fail, but if you succeed, the dividends pay off many fold. Not that moving to another part of Japan is life and death mind, so that helps rationalize fear in this instance!
I only recently discovered your channel about a month ago so I haven't followed your adventure from the start. But in the videos I have seen so far I can really feel the genuinity of your ups and downs. I realise that your channel isn't about content of "Hey check out this cool stuff or this and that.." it's more of about life, thoughts, dreams + awesome videogames! Don't really know where I'm going with this but I find myself keep comming back to your channel because of the deeper topics. Really inspiring stuff. Stay awesome and good luck on your next adventure!
Thank you Daniel, that's so rad of you to say. Yeah, this channel is more of an outlet, a life blog, I don't do RU-vid to make money or become a RU-vidr, I actually don't want to be the latter, it's just an outlet to share my interests and life where I feel it can help people!
Hiya Vicky ☺️ Once again congratulations on the the third anniversary of living Japan. As you no doubt remember, you and l left the U.K. roughly about 8 months apart back in 2020 so this has been an adventure close to my heart and l have shared many of your ups and downs on a personal level. It’s been some ride huh?…phew. I’ve already made my comments on this video on Patreon (please everyone consider joining, it’s great stuff), so l won’t re-hash those here. Thank you for sharing what you do and l know for myself it’s gives me inspiration and hope for the future and being a savior of it 😉
Thank you so much as always Jason, you're very kind. Yes, we both moved in that same year, and I know how much it took for you to settle and feel at home. It takes time, and of course, it's one of the reasons I thought do I uproot from Miyako? I am sure though in the long run this is the right thing for me to have done; as already I can see there is quite a lot more going on in Nabari; hopefully I can join up with the international society soon, and maybe if there are some art groups around too. But yeah...it's been a ride. If I am honest, I don't talk too much about that, as I think that's just stuff I had to deal with for myself, but if I do get learning points from it all, I always try to share that with new ALTs; and if it's truly useful, I will share it here. Anyway, glad to see someone's latched on to why my manga is called what it is...
I wish i could be there too, stay and live earning money like everyone. My dream to focus on learn and explore japan, place i can still buy cheap wonderswan mono.
I've often said that Iwate is a bit like a super humid Scotland; well in summer anyway. No midges though, which is nice! Winters can be bitterly cold; but not that windy. I can honestly say I only experienced a handful of stormy days; compared to the UK, very few storms.
One of my earliest videos was on Super Play Magazine. Almost nobody watched it ;) Hopefully at some point we can meet up as Nagoya/Osaka is all within reaching distance for me now, albeit right now I am broke AF as you well know from how ALT wages are paid in Japan in March/April/May! As for the lack of sea...not quite going mad just yet...but I expect within time, I will be hankering for a sea view! That said, I am relieved to not be sat in the shadow of the tsunami wall any more!
@@vix_in_japan just saw your last video, seems we share a lot of similarities when it comes to living in Japan. Obviously our experiences are very different, but can totally relate to the feeling of emptiness. Looks like I need to pull up that super play video. They were well up there in quality with Amiga Power.
@@vix_in_japan BTW Yeah, I'm down for a coffee in Nagoya- Osaka is a bit far from my place though. I have a few weeks until the new term starts, throw me a message on Twitter or whatever the cool kids are using nowadays.
@@TeamPandory Yeah, the first year here was very hard, and if I am honest I don't talk about it because I don't think it serves any benefit to me to do so, the only thing I can say is it was the reset I needed. Even though my manga has yet to gain any traction in reality, I'm still better off now having started it and spent the time struggling to improve. I think so long as I keep focused on enjoying the moment rather than thinking this will lead to XYZ, then even if it doesn't work out, and when I am dead someone burns all of my artwork, then I'll will have at least enjoyed the time I spent making it, rather than looking at it all as an unrealized failure.
