This was AMAZING! Thank goodness you didn't fall. But I bet some of the slips hurt a wee bit. Love this area you were in!! Can't wait until the next one!! Thank you always for letting us explore (always) with you!!
I think the location is really beautiful and amazing, and needs to be in 12K! Especially that waterfall! Maybe you could borrowed the Blackmagic URSA 12K again and redo the hike? 😂
@Ellie Smithy, same, I have chronic pain problems and use a cane; hiking isn't really realistic so living vicariously through Norm and Victor/frameoftravel works for me! Hope you are well 💜
@@2007Club i'm sure you mean well, but I for one don't think my life is "horrible"; it just is what it is. It certainly could be easier, I even wish it was, but the universe has other plans. As it is, I try to enjoy adventures on my scope and scale, and the internet lets me enjoy along with Norm for things that I wouldn't be doing otherwise! Be well~
I love hiking. Its funny because growing up in Canada where hiking trails are easily accessible I took for granted how easy it was to get on hiking trails. I am realizing as I get older how much I love planning vacations abroad with some time for hiking.
Only just recently started hiking. The trip that I still hope to take one day includes hiking around Koyasan and the Kumano Kodo, the walk between Tsumago and Megome, Kurama to Kifune in Kyoto, and hiking around Nikko. So I've got plans. Which might happen someday.
no wayy lmao I have the exact same dream of taking a road trip across the US and Canada as well as exploring Japan ahaha but I'm living in New Zealand right now and although I live in Auckland(New Zealand's capital), when you come here I'd also recommend to visit fiordland and queenstown in the south island
I would love to see more hiking videos! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I can store them all for when I can finally return and go camping, swimming and touching all the moss I can find - the holy trinity if you will… Thanks again for satisfying my wanderlust, always a pleasure to watch! 💖
Thank you for taking the time to stream this hike, I live in Scotland and live very close to the Cairngorms but major mental health issues prevent me from hiking these days. This was like soup for the soul. Thank you bud. 👑
Your adventures are as always a great escape. Places i definitely willnever get to see as there is so many. Its great sharla is going to be closer and you can visit her and chris.
Thank you for the all the sweat in making this video. I am too old and infirm to do a hike like this anymore. But it brings back many good memories. The landscape and vegetation is very much like the mountains of Oregon where my grandparents lived.
Finding little shrines everywhere is probably my favorite thing about Japan. Also, this is making me miss home; moved to a drier climate recently and I feel like I might be part moss.
Hiking isn't really realistic for me (which is why I live vicariously through you and Victor!) I do like taking nature walks when possible...in fact, if it's cool enough I should do it tonight! Thanks for a lovely video, and I'm glad you didn't fall into any rapids ~
I love the outdoors explore videos. I used to love just trying to get lost out in the woods. It's really hard to do that after I broke my neck. Your videos always give me a sense of fun exploring in nature. I appreciate all of your videos no matter what type of video it is. So keep up the great work.
Yes, we want more😆 I’ll have to go to sleep but thank you so much for the great video! I really loved it😊 and I’m looking forward to Tokyo walks😄 good night, Norm!
I love hiking. I vote for doing more hiking videos. I also think they take as long as they take. The "longer" ones are not boring. They are just as fun as the half hour ones. I love the scenery of Japan. That is one of the reasons why I love to hike. Thanks for showing us this!
Great video. When I lived under a mountain on the lower b.c. border ... I hiked every week or rode my horse. My favorite place to hike would be the north cascades because I grew up there and no I never hiked Mt. Baker yet ...
We did some hiking in Ireland when we went and really enjoyed it. And I share your frustration with GoPro! I went over the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge in N Ireland and lost all my footage when the gopro overheated and froze. And I'm scared of heights so it took a lot for me to go over the bridge in the first place!
Yes please, more hiking videos! I love hiking (granted I've only done so in the northeast US), and I love seeing trails like this in Japan's beautiful mountains. I also really appreciate your tips about how to research hiking locations and how to plan ahead for safety etc - as someone who doesn't read or speak Japanese, it makes adventures like these seem more attainable and less intimidating
Your videos make me want to travel to Japan even more! I feel like (at least as a westerner) that I see a lot about Tokyo and Kyoto but not much about the Japanese country side. So beautiful!
Hi. I’m currently quarantined because of covid. I first watched your hiking vlogs weeks ago. And now I currently watching it and it really helped ease the stress of being in quarantine. I love and miss Japan so much. Thank you for your japan video. ❤️ 😇🙏
Tea house? You’re going to show that at some point right? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video of a tea house. At least not from the Japan Quad squad (you, Sharla, Chris, & Ryotoro). Did I miss it? Seriously though, I love watching watching your videos. So relaxing. And I could listen to you talk for days.
Am not much of a hiker but whenever I get the opportunity to go for a simple walk elsewhere its just calming to see the sights and since you mentioned Takao-san I’ve been there quite a few times well obviously just to check the Shrines and went to Chichibu one time too 😊 Loved those places and I can’t wait to go back, i Miss Japan 😁
I like hearing you but the almost constant water sounds where so incredibly relaxing... except each time you were about to slip and fall which made me jump more than once 😂. And yes, please do many more videos like this one.
So pretty! I'd love to see more hiking videos! I used to hike a lot with my mom back in Ontario, there was paths that ran all throughout the city we lived in that followed the river. There was another place, near my hometown that had paths through a forest and along a lake. Was a sugarbush too, so was doubly fun in winter! I've recently found a place where I am now, has something like 30km of paths through a nature preserve with bison and other animals. Was there last weekend, saw a few deer.
The “only YOU can prevent forest fires” really reminded me how often they used to play that bear-mountie ads on tv and in school! Canada has had some weird public service ads😂
Seriously a dream. Japan has a perfect (abd my preferred) combination of mountain forests and adjoining rivers that I've always wanted to see. Doesn't have the grandeur of places like Northern California or Alaska, but something more enclosed and gentle. It's almost mystic.
I'm in the US where popular hiking trails are way too crowded. It's currently an aspiration of mine to learn Japanese so that I can hike in more remote locations in Japan. Until then, your videos are a great substitute! Thanks Norm!
Hiking is an amazing thing, I have hiked many mountains in Europe, some swamps in Florida and I made it my life goal to make it to Japan and explore as much as I possibly can, looks gorgeous anywhere you go.
Really loved the forest walk! Thanks so much for bringing us along! I haven't been hiking a lot in recent years, but really want to get back into at least basic forest walks/hikes. I grew up on 25 acres of forest, so if I want a forest walk I usually just go home for that. I've also been hiking in Algonquin, and a few places in Nova Scotia when I lived there. Would love to do some forest hikes in BC with the old growth forests. And of course I'd love to hike in Japan one day!
Wonderful! I'm just a city slicker myself and I ride the bicycle every day, but this is so beautiful and your way of absorbing the (occasionally breathtaking) scenery is pretty entertaining, so yes, definitely more of this!
Awesome hiking video Norm! I do a lot of hiking on the Bruce Trail in Ontario, it's super nice and has some similar landscape to this one. I also did Mont Tremblant a couple years ago. It was right when the leaves were changing in the fall.
Lovely video! I love hiking! All my family did. And there is a saying I n Bulgaria that "the fresh air makes you hungry", as people tend to get more hungry in the nature and aldo the food somehow tastes better. 😃🌞❤🍀🏔🌲🌻⛰️🏖🏕🗻🏞🌌
I know I'm a bit late in the game here (and in finding your channels), but I love the hiking videos. I have mobility issues now adays. I miss hiking so love these videos.
Of course I like to see more. Living at the German Black forest i especially like those small hiking paths, where I live unfortunately most of the small paths are now bulldozed to 2 - 3 meters wide kinda roads because of offroad bicycling going overboard (to protect the hikers from bicyclists) destroying a not so small part of the nature in the process.
Would you please include the coordinates or a description where to find the shrine. I love the watefall and plan to visit when it is safe again for everyone to visit Japan. May be this is the start point 35.6661093, 136.8192934 ? Love it thank you so much. I was just 1h to late for the live stream. Nice spot to hike is the Nihon Daibutsu in Chiba behind the Buddha there is a Buddhist temple and below it is the most perfect tea house I have ever seen in Japan. Because you hear a small mini waterfall next to it you can hear it when enjoying tea. But then there is the garden open to the inland sea with the island in the horizon. Unreal because normally the the tea house is next to a Japanese garden that mimics nature this one just embedded in nature.
I loved this video! I adore hiking, I didn't do much in Japan but the hike up Mt Misen was nice, and the ropeway was down so we had the place to ourselves! Don't get out half as much as I'd like to in general though 😭
I'm not really a hiker but it's one of those things I've always wanted to do but I haven't because I have not had someone to go with. So, knowing it was a risk to go out into the woods alone, I just haven't hiked actual trails. I used to trek all over the 40 acres we used to own behind my old childhood home. Anywho, looking forward to more hiking content if you so choose to make it. The hidden forest shine with the bonus surprise campsite, that was really cool.
I actually hiked this morning in a waterfall trail in Koh phangan and thought about your videos, since there is sth about Asian forests, I think. I love it. I hope to go hike in Japan one day. I'm French but I live in the Canary Islands, I recommend it to you if you like hiking : laurasilva forest called Anaga or the ravines of lava tongues from the volcano 'barranco' or even the peak of the Teide volcano, the beaches with cliffs... Have fun
I'm a fairly keen hiker. I've done 2 hikes in Japan. First was going from Kawaguchico to the Fifth Station on Mt Fuji. Up hill all the way, obviously, but enjoyable. The second was doing Mt Misen on Miyajima, Hiroshima. That was a great hike, too.
I love myself a good gorge. I also love a good trail through the woods. This hike is a win win for me. Thank you Norm for these out of place locations that most of us, even those who have visit Japan multiple times, may not be able to experience.
This was a great stream. Really feel like you are there. More hiking videos please. Great to have you finding these amazing places and sharing them with all of us!! Cheers.
Nice a hiking video. Yes every time I've been to Japan I've tried to include at least one hike, relaxing and beautiful. If you want suggestions, there is one hike I would like to do when it is possible again to travel to Japan: Start from Hozukyo station (near Kyoto), which in itself is an amazing place especially being just outside of Arashiyama, then follow along the river in north-eastern direction, then follow the path along the Kiyotaki river towards Takao (Kyoto). There should be lots of interesting bits along the path, including the natural scenery, Kiyotaki village, a waterfall on a branch path, etc. But I haven't don this one yet so I'm not 100% sure about all of this. The other suggestion I have is start at Daiyuzan Saijoji temple, in itself quite pretty and often overlooked by tourists I think, and then hike up Myojingatake (Hakone). Along the way you get some interesting views, and an abandoned ropeway. Depending on the route you take, you end up at Gora station (Hakone) or nearby. This one is about 12km though, so maybe a bit much for your average videos (unless you edit it down).
Hey Norm. Great stream. I love hiking. Been over most of the hills around the UK. Done 2 sections of the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain. That was amazing. Also did the Grand Canyon, top to bottom and back in a day. Yosemite, Canyonlands etc... My 4th trip to Japan, hopefully soon, will be to the North and all for the hiking. Inspired by your videos and GoNorthJapan. Fantastic to see these places. You are adding maps to my bucket list every day. Cheers fella.
Yes, do more hiking video's please. I had a great one once in Kamakura, trying to find the shrine dedicated to money and I got a bit lost. Good times...
Was out for the last quarter of the premiere coz my bro called from NJ. Will rewatch in 4k later. As always, love following the chat in the sideline while watching. Such a lovely community. More hiking videos please!
Yes please!!! I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I’m obsessed. It’s my dream to visit Japan and especially the more rural places, so your videos are just amazing.
I do a lot of hiking here in California and I haven’t been to Japan yet, but I was hoping to do the Kumano kodo trail in Japan at some point! Would be cool to see some hiking in that area
That water under the bridge in the beginning though! 😍 100% would play in that water! I absolutely LOVE to hike, I want to hike alot when I eventually get to go to Japan (as I'm not sure my march trip will be able to be done with covid still) I just went to Sedona Arizona to hike again and honestly it's one of my favorites spots here in Arizona. I go cliff jumping and swimming at Grasshopper Point, Sedona. Should look it up, it's beautiful 😍💜 Much love from Arizona ❤️❤️
Yay for another day on which you didn't die ^^; These waterfalls are awesome, thanks for taking us with you! P.S.: today I walked down a path where other people came along just one minute ago. Aaaand I ran into a spiderweb, laughed, and thought of you :D seriously though, how fast are these guys in building a new web?!
