Can we all just support one another as women and get along/uplift one another? I know it’s opinions and I respect A’ja’s but I want to see more support for the greatness of CC. If anything, the W should welcome her with open arms and uplift her. She’s brought so much more to the sport and we should be celebrating that and hope that translates to the W. Period. They deserve it! Love you, A’ja but I think it’s truly honorable that Caitlin chose to use her talents to uplift Iowa’s program. She doesn’t have all Americans around her/top recruiting classes and look what she’s brought to the game and to Iowa specifically. She used her platform and skill set to make everyone around her better. To me, that’s the definition of what it is to be great!

What did she say that wasn't uplifting? What more support could A'ja even possibly give? It's like if "certain" folks aren't praising Clark like she's God, her fans cry and call it hate. It's very weird. Clark is probably the most celebrated and supported athlete in the world right now, but because A'ja doesn't say she is the best player ever, which is absolutely debatable she's not supportive??? And A'ja literally did the SAME thing staying home at SC. Helped grow a fanbase and build it into now a recruiting powerhouse and championship program. She was able to WIN without going to a powerhouse. Why is that an excuse for CC? And if I'm not mistaken Reese didn't have any All Americans playing with her last year. So what is the REAL issue? 🤔 Every current WNBA player I hear speak about CC seem super supportive and excited about her going to the next level, as they should be.
@sitetrap
@sitetrap 3 месяца назад
You have to understand that back in the day when Aja was struggling to win a chip those first few years in SC that’s the standard she was held to. She couldn’t be considered great until she won. She was in the exact same boat as Clark won SC’s first championship ever without an all star top team and then went on to win championships at every other level. I think the W will uplift Clarke when she gets there but do you want her to lie about how hard it is? What she said about support from fans was spot on. Support has been an issue as girls transition. A lot of people who just jumped on the Caitlin Clark bandwagon will probably disappear when she transitions to the next level and isn’t dropping 30-40+ points every game. These women know what they are talking about, the W is tough most of the drafted don’t make it out of training camp and the few that survive the season generally struggle those first couple of years and their beloved fans get bored of them and move on.
@Marciaclark10

Thanks for the insight folks- I appreciate what you wrote. I guess my hope was that we change the way we view “greatness.” A’ja and Caitlin are both great. We recently had a man talk about CC is not great until she wins a championship and I guess I’m challenging that part. I’d hate to see women jump on this bandwagon of thinking. It’s how you define greatness- if that’s by NCAA championships then ok but I just disagreed and it’s cool. We can agree to disagree. I just hope WNBA players (former and current and all male broadcasters) prepare themselves for the CC questions. And honestly, the WNBA needs her to bring the fan base to the next level. If my boss told me a coworker might be joining our team and this coworker was going to bring a huge following with the potential to elevate our work, bring more attention to us, and possibly help us make more money and sell more tickets, I’d just be cautious with my words at times. That’s all. It’s all about uplifting. A’ja didn’t say anything bad- it’s her opinion but I guess I just wish she left it at nothing but support without the “greatness championship part.” Half of that was on the interviewer too. Thanks for the replies.

It took 118 more games for Lebron to pass MJ’s scoring record. There. Proved who was better without even mentioning the obvious finals comparison. Rings work in professionals because there is an equalizer. Teams have salary caps and a draft to disperse talent. That doesn’t exist in college and you get super teams that hoard all of the top end talent, like UConn and South Carolina in women’s basketball or Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State in football. You take the best player in of those great UConn teams and place them on a roster with Iowa’s caliber of player outside of Caitlin, they don’t even sniff the final four, more than likely. Let alone get to the national championship game twice. If you put Caitlin on one of those stacked rosters the past 4 years, she has 4 rings easily. The woman people most often point to as the GOAT for women’s college basketball is Breanna Stewart. She had 4 rings. She was the number 1 draft pick her senior year. The number 2 and number 3 picks were also seniors on her team that year. Pretty easy to win when you have the 3 best players in the country on one team. Caitlin didn’t have anything like that.

Caitlin plays with a team full of 2 and 3 star slow recruits ....carries them (drags them) to an NCAA Championship game ....yet, she has to win a national title to be in the conversation? Barry Sanders has a dream season of 2628 yds at Oklahoma St. and doesn't win a National Championship ...sooooo, not the conversation as the best (really? Ask anyone who ever played against him?) Larry Bird? Pete Maravich not in conversation? Caitlin has career over 3500 points AND over 1000 assists in four years (Wilson do that?) Bo Jackson not in conversation? Payton Manning not in conversation? Jim Brown? Charles Barkley? Dan Marino? Wilt Chamberlain? not in conversation....And at least 50 more greats ...... I fear there is some serious racism underscoring this narrative about a NATY pre-requisite for Caitlin ........... She should go back to Iowa for another year ...then by-pass the racism that is the WNBA ..... go to France or Italy and play for fun and see the world ...... huge endorsement deals there too (As pretty as she is? In Paris or Rome markets?)......... maybe come back when she is 30 years old when many of the racist are done ........... fulfill the dream later ..........

I was originally thinking for CC to go to WNBA. Now, nah. Stay in school, keep cashing in on NIL. In a place that loves CC, and wants to see her do well. She gets one more year of college, too. The idea that she has nothing left to prove in college is sort of empty and hollow...she can still play for a coach and team that wants to play with her. And yeah, Iowa has good 'regional' talent...UConn, SC, Stanford, other programs recruit nationally and internationally. Most of Iowa's roster is from IA and IL, which is reflective of the student body. SC only has two players from SC on their roster. UConn has not a single player from CT.

A team is a team and if you don’t like that then the coach should’ve recruited better. SC hadn’t even been to the sweet sixteen yet until the year before A’ja got there. From the minute she got there every thing has been uphill for that program. Fact of the matter is if CC is as good as y’all say she is she’ll be able to win a championship no matter who’s on her squad. And racism in the wnba? The only racism in the league is them trying to force Sabrina down our throats when it’s been clear that A’ja Wilson is the face of the league.

Of course, you are ignorant of these facts because all you know is "Clark" and nothing else. Sad. Quit making excuses about Clark's teammates...Clark's failure in 4 years at Iowa to attract other top players is a glaring, yet overlooked shortcoming. Some speculate it was intentional so Clark could take all the shots and hog all the publicity. Top players come out of high school every year who fit Iowa's demographic. They play at schools nationwide - Duke, UCLA, Stanford, Ivy League, NC/NC State, UCONN, Notre Dame, Ohio State,...and on and on. How come NONE would join Clark? Seems odd. No other top program has had such a failed recruiting and xfer portal record over a 4 year period - which is why many suspect its been intentional. You can't whine about "heavily stacked" teams when you either deliberately don't want any other top players or you are too incompetent to sign them. If Hall of Fame writers and broadcasters, who know the 50 year history of the game, put together a "Top 5" list of women players, Clark has ZERO chance of making that list - too many better all-around players have played the game. You've been bamboozled by the current Clark promotion campaign. Do yourself a favor and learn something about the game OTHER than Clark.

@@Glenda_M._FrancisI’m telling u these ppl taking cc side don’t watch the game they don’t know shit about the game only dick riding because she’s white. Trust me if cc was black it wouldnt be like this. Why? Because there been black girls in the game since forever. Congrats to their first great white girl in the game.

This gal wouldn't acknowledge the # 1 scorer in ncaa history, I'm thinking racial bias?

You ain't got to win a championship to be great look at all the examples Kobe Bryant Larry Bird LeBron James never won a college championship here's the hate and the racism already you see it in her voice and you said enter mannerisms she broke the record you never even came close come on now you never had fans on your side like Caitlin Clark ever please you got to win a championship to be considered great she just broke the record and you never even came close to 2000 points in your career
