Calligrapher Daichiro Shinjo, who continues to bring new light to traditional calligraphy, travels to Miyako Island in Okinawa Prefecture, his hometown and current base of activities. There, he meets a female dyeing artist who, with the traditional craft of hemp fabric called Miyako jofu, which boasts over 400 years of history, faces anew this place where indigo dyeing has been popular for a long time.She grows her own Indian indigo and uses it as a dye for her creations.

Born in Miyako Island, Okinawa, in 1992. He began calligraphy in his childhood when he was familiar with Zen and Buddhist culture. Now he is bringing a new light to calligraphy with an unconventional style against the backdrop of Okinawan spiritual culture. He also participated in "UNTITLED, ART" (San Francisco) and is active internationally.
"HUMAN ODYSSEY" is a documentary film series in which creators who passionately pursue creation embark on a journey to discover craftsmanship. Calligrapher Daichiro Shinjo, architect Tsuyoshi Tane, roboticist Tomotaka Takahashi, photographer Kazuhei Kimura, chef Kotaro Meguro, and ceramic artist Raku Kichizaemon XVI. The six travel to different parts of Japan and France, and their new encounters lead to the creation of the next generation.
